Let's do a "Devil and Daniel Webster" kind of argument, but with the Adv. Mod. Ferrari F40 (10248) as the one on trial. I'll be the guy who inbounds the ball and gets the discussion rolling, mods can ship this over to another theme forum, and other blokes can discuss, predict, and say either: "It'll suck and Jorge Pesi's F40 is still better!" or "It'll be a winner of a model!" or something like that. This goes on until the whole she-bang drops, and some time after. This includes the Academy review, another review (by Sariel), and rants, and another review.

A'ight. I'll start: The F40 will be fine. Just look at the set number. Jamie's team have surely seen big-scale F40 MOC's and have went to Maranello to check out the real thing, and the final design might just rock better than even the Beetle and the CamperVan. And, from the Cooper model, I think there will be a cool addition, like, say, easy conversion to the F40 LM race car.

Pretty sure Ferrari would demand quite a lot of functionality and accuracy. They're gonna want an actual working engine that looks like the real thing, the suspension accurately set-up, real steering, and, most especially, those star wheels.

As to how Ferrari's demands and TLG's parts and manpower will meet and whether or not it'll be an epic one or Wall-of-Shame-worthy model is still something we're left to guess. One thing is for sure though: the F40 is in the hands of Jamie's team. That's quite a good reason to be positive.

Though there will be that guy who does a rant, saying it's like Hammond driving a Veyron in a straight line. "What could possibly go wrong?"

I dont think we will see something technic with creator expert theme number or combined.

Also I made some observation and I think that 1:10 scenario never happen. This scale is same scale as ferrari technic and in system version it will be set with huge amount of pieces and high price.Rather this I think there will be scenario with these wheels http://www.bricklink....asp?P=41896c04 that are next year rereleased in this set http://brickset.com/...41-1/Race-Truck .

If you want to see how this smaller scale will look, look at creator set roaring roadster or cool convertible. These cars are about 35 cm long and looks like model team to me.

I think ferrari doesnt care about functionality.More complex+more pieces= Less buyers and smaller profit for tlc and ferrari merchandise.

Ferrari made as main producer for his die cast models company bburago well known for quantity over quality market scheme.I think this is for profit purpose.

I must do myself correction.

Jorge Pessi F 40 is not 1:10 is about 1:8,7 based on dimensions on lego ideas. So if we use 56×28 tyres we get almost true 1:10 of Ferrari F40!Off course if designers stay loyal to proportions.

Camper van is about 1:14 and mini cooper 1:12 if this will be true ferrari will be 1:10 and biggest creator car after beetle which is 50 cm in lenght.

EditI only calculated with rims not with combination of lego tyres and rims .Diameter of real tyres of f40 is 666 mm , lego tyres are 56 mm.Put it into same scale there will be ratio 1,17 now some calculating and we will get scale about 1:12 so f40 will be probably in same scale as mini cooper and will be about 37 cm long .

Or they use tyres for technic supercar like 42039 and set scale will be 1:10.

Cant wait which scale they choose, I vote for 1:12 to be with mini cooper.

Old Italy bburago are great models for starting diecast collector I own some and Im proud of it but China Bburago is majestic piece of crap.I buy only one china bburago 1:18 new 500 abarth as kit result three pieces missing another pieces looks like eaten by dog.I never spend money so bad.

So Im aware how these models will turn, maybe they develop one theme with quality models for higher price. On the side is great that ferrari models are now for everybody but on the other side rather than buy bad model I buy none model!

Ferrari went from Bburago to Hot Wheels, were they are just overprized Maisto Quality like era model cars. Kyosho got a hold of that partial license deal and started doing some of them, and the F40 is a beautiful masterpiece, but I only own the Ferrari F355 Berlinetta, and I am just awaiting one day to see the F50 re done again. Hot Wheels just keeps releasing new cars, while Kyosho is doing cars years 2000 and below.

still OT, but Kyosho is doing the F40 Competizione in 1/12 scale due out in 2015.... should be quite the model. If the Lego set is the same 1/12 scale I can forgo the Kyosh.. waitaminute. I have the Kyosho 1/12 F40, Tamiya F50, 288GTO, Enzo.. I'd get the new F40 too.

It's pretty chilly in here. Like, -17 degrees Celsius kind of chilly.

WHEN IN 2015 WILL I SEE THE UCS FERRARI F40?!

Oh, wait. We're just nearing February.

I guess there's no sign of it at the toy fair. Really wondering what it'll look like

Best guess is that it'll be Mini Cooper-smooth. If they can go all-out (Go, Team Jamie!) they can have a real working Technic engine bay driven by the rear wheels, with cover like the real thing, as well as steering and suspension. The F40 is a pretty basic supercar; no pop-up wings, no electronic nannies and such. The Porsche 959 (the likelier successor) has more buttons and more tech. Watch Hammond's review of those two cars so you have an idea.

It'll be a big model to have a working engine, steering, ans suspension--at least 1:8 scale.

Look at some bburago ferrari models from toy fair.Bburago made it!They looks great for its price.

Now back to F40.I change some priorities for must have set of 2015 so now is F40 must have set number 1!I dont even know how it will look, but Im sure it will look great.

My must have LEGO sets for 2015 are:

Technic Mercedes Benz Arocs 3245 (42043)

Technic Crawler Crane (42042)

Technic Fire Plane (42040)

Creator Expert Ferrari F40

The Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart

It's gonna be an expensive year for me (roughly 800 Euro) but totally worth it :sweet:

Hopefully we can get a first glimpse on the LEGO Creator Expert version of this iconic car properly soon. I can't wait. This will look so awesome next to the VW T1 Camper Van and the Mini Cooper. More of this please TLG.

It's going to be Team Jamie or Jamie himself, that's for sure.

Wait a minute. There's a function that we haven't touched on. The F40 has pop-up headlamps, right? That should show up in the model. Or it's busted.

Yeah, you are right about the headlamps. Could be done but I'm not too sure how they'll pull it off.

Oh I want it now! :) I'll probably build one black and one yellow to! (I'm assuming the original will be red!?)

Of course the original will be red, any other color would just be wrong for a Ferrari licensed set.

So, if you like "Ferrari"-red, may be, you're interested in my review on the unreleased LEGO Speed Champions Scuderia Ferrari Truck (75913).

Very cool - and many red bricks.

And this is the unboxing (again 75913)

Hey all - first post on the forum, so hopefully not missed the answer elsewhere - finding my way around! :)

Has this been confirmed as a Creator Expert set? Are we thinking Mini Cooper level of size? Or are we thinking 2000+ pieces? Would love it to be the latter - Ferrari is in my 'money no object' Lego category :)

Can't wait to get my hands on this - I recently was given a 599 GTB 'Racers' set and it looks superb.

The number code says Creator Expert, but I'm certain it will be twice as long as the Cooper at most and has two more studs in width at least, the F40. And would make the Mk7 Cooper look like it's the 2013 Mini, though I can't be so certain. Edited by XAxles

Thanks! Hopefully some more info leaks in the coming months. :)

I'm not too sure about that, TLG might go with the VW T1 Camper Van and the Mini Cooper scale for the Ferrari F40. I just hope it turns out to be an amazing build with the same effort as it was done with the previous Creator Expert cars. Hoping for some functions too, like pop-up headlights for example :)
