K-Nut Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I don't think I could ever narrow it down to only 1 set. I loved building both 21103 The DeLorean Time Machine and 21108 Ghostbusters Ecto-1 if for no other reason than admiring how the sets were designed and how they shaped up into the final product. As for regular system sets, 70809 Lord Business' Evil Lair was a nice experience for the unique design of it, as was 79003 An Unexpected Gathering, though I think that was for all the details they packed into a regular sized set. For D2C's, it comes down between 10236 Ewok Village for the organic looking trees or 10246 Detective's Office for the fresh design of a modular set. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of other greats sets in my possession that I love, but I didn't necessarily love building them all (looking at you Death Star. Why'd I try to build you in a day? ) Quote
Jared Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 8572-1 - Bionicle Tahu Nuva. So much nostalgia, one of the best birthdays ever, something so satisfying about hearing those ball joints snap into place as I readied the Toa leader to do battle against my collection of Rakshi.... 9450- Ninjago Epic Dragon Battle - an incredibly well designed set, one of the few times I've ever built a set and never stripped down for parts. Well, not the dragon anyway ;) IT'S JUST TOO EPIC! :P Quote

N-4K0 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Now after building the 42030 Volvo loader this week, I can clearly say that is the build I have enjoyed the most. Very nice build, and fun for a first time RC set. Quote
incomplet Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I grew up as a kid; with free play lego. just building random concoctions and imagining spaceships and other things. However after coming back to lego; i'd say Parisian Restaurant (10243) was a great and memorable build. Quote
Vindicare Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Definitely 10225 UCS R2-D2. I was so fun watching him take shape after each part of him was built & added. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I'd have to say 4559 Cargo Railway I received for my 12th birthday. There was nothing really specifically special about the set itself, it was just my largest set and my first train at the time and was that way until I emerged from my dark age. I ended up tearing it apart just to rebuild it at one point a few years after I received it. It holds a very special place in my collection, along with all of my pre-dark age sets Quote
Ryzomc Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Got to be the green grocer or cafe corner, as they just show cased what for me lego was meant to be Quote
Robianco Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Probably 10228 Haunted House. I'd liked the look of the set for a while but I don't normally pick things up outside of the themes I like... once I got the chance to get a sale price on it i grabbed it and loved everything about the set. Even the wife, who hates Lego, thinks it's a great set. Quote
Iria Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Definitely 79110 Silver Mine Shootout. It's the first LEGO set I have ever bought and remains the largest one. I slowly built it over the course of an afternoon and really savoured putting it together and playing with all the dynamite to blow off the rock walls while I built it up. It was so much fun and it looks so cool. Love the desert theme and canyons and caves. Quote
Freekysch Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 My nicest build was the F1 Williams Racer 8461. I am a Technic fan but sometimes I like to build something without so many gears. Quote
Nick Barrett Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 +1 for the Williams. The 8480 Space Shuttle was pretty special as well. Quote
Kelso Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 That has to be the 9493, I just love the X-Wing! Quote
talos Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I think I find the bigger sets the most fun. The more time and complexity the better.. I just got a Medieval Market Village set (10193), off of BrickLink. I had a great time putting it together, its a nice size, lots of detail and features. Lot of minifigs and accessories too. I have a great time finding something I like and then BrickLinking it together, finding the parts is a big part of the fun, to me. Though, it can be a little expensive. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 VW Camper Van was an enjoyable build. When I started that I didn't have much knowledge of SNOT techniques, so how the front comes together was very clever. Also, I am unfamiliar with most LEGO vehicles, so this was more impressive to me than most sets. Otherwise, Orthanc was fun. Parts can be repetitive, but I think the end result was impressive enough for me to make up for it. The open back is fine for play value, but it would be neat to mod it to hinge it open. Quote
Breakdown Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 In my younger years. 733, that set had a really high "playability factor" introduced me to some new wheels, was the first set that I owned with strings and much like the modern day "Creator sets" had several variants in the instructions if I recall correctly. In my second go-round with Lego (2000+) it's probably 6394, I wanted that set as a kid, but ultimately settled on: 6395 (they were both the same price, but I could only have one . . . said the parentals at the time. 6394 introduced me to the concept of flipping over the 1 X 1 modified bricks which I was ONLY familiar with using as headlight holders on cars at the time. The set had the elevator, introduced me to the idea of using hoses (whatever you call those black things) for tension on the car wash components, etc. I also love the idea of hinged 3 driveway sets. My first was 6391 back in the day. Quote
SomeAssemblyRequired Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Haunted House from 2012 will forever my "funnest" build. Took me 8 hours overall from Christmas afternoon into the early hours of Boxing Day. Quote
MrPaulo23 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 My 2 8110 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U400 and 41999 BOSS Rock Crawler, being a Technic fan i like the portal axles on those sets, it took me about 10 straight hours to build my first 'Mog set and almost the same for my second 'Mog all two customised to my own liking, 41999 I had to get one because I like the overall design and it is my first RC set from Lego. Quote
ProducePrincess Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Parisian Restaurant was a very enjoyable set to build. It was large enough to be satisfying and had enough detail to keep me interested. While building it I was watching through a few walking dead episodes. It was an emotional roller coaster. When I was younger more memorable sets to build were the Dwarves' Mine and Stealth Hunter. Its not so much the sets themselves that make it an enjoyable build but the outside factors like how old I was at the time or how I got the set. Quote
muffluvin Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Building the mixel series was the best for me. It was also the one that brought me out of the Dark Age (25+ years) Quote
DuckBricks Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I'm gonna have to go with the 2015 Bionicles, mostly because I had the originals next to me while I built the whole team, and it was simply mind-blowing to see how far we've gone. (As for functions, though, the Cole's jet from Ninjago is just so fun, as well as Drillex's vehicle from UA. I just LOVE functions....) Quote
WarHawk Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I would have to say the star wars rebels Ghost, that ship is awesome. I also really liked the Dc iniverse builds as well as the agents, I use the agents as agents of shield so they fit in perfect with my Marvel Stuff. I could never have just 1 favorite build. Quote
grum64 Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 (edited) Without doubt my favourite build has to be Jurgens Ultimate 42009 that I'm building at the moment. No question. Edited April 21, 2015 by grum64 Quote
