TeClem8 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Hi ! Here is my WIP for the TC6 contest. It's a transport truck with a palfinger crane on the back. My model have 4 powered motors. I use a gearbox, so i have 7 functions motorised. - Selection of operating mode (M-motor) Driving : - Drive (XL-motor) - Steer (M-motor) - Outriggers (M-motor) Handling : - UP arm (XL-motor) - Rotate arm (M-motor) - Open arm (M-motor) + fake engine and suspension When the gearbox is in neutral, it is possible to drive in hand with HOG. And small render with LDD. Very far from the quality of Blackbird. Quote
LeocornoProductions Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Looks very promising, great start Quote
kisper Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Can't wait to see the final product :) Thanks for sharing ! Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 This looks fantastic! I really like this project. One suggestion though: From my past experience, I would suggest not using a clutch gear between the worm gear and your changeover catch. Torque from the XL motor can make the driving rings pop out if you use a 24t clutch gear. I suggest replacing the 24t clutch gear with a standard 24t gear and then find a way to place a clutch gear between the worm gear and motor. Great project you have here! Quote
kandykop Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Well done! The front is similar to Madoca's Wing Body Truck. Quote
TeClem8 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) Thanks ! I have no problem yet with the 24t clutch gear. When I block the wheels, the XL motor stops. Maybe because the 24t clutch is new. The worm gear is not completely maintained, it can slide, which allows to change with the hand. It's possible that there has similarity with Madoka's Wing Body Truck. I really like his truck. This design is classic. Other people have told me it is similar to #8258. But I realize that my panels of my cabin also has the same positioning. Edited January 3, 2015 by TeClem8 Quote
Milan Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Very nice entry Clement! Looking forward to see the update, especially for the crane! Quote
sm 01 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Gearbox has taken this model to another level - this is gonna be a great entry! Thank you for that LDD render - I like it! Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 This is looking very promising. Anticipating some great bodywork to finish it off... Quote
Pluto_MkII Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 That's a cool model, nice bodywork. I can't wait to see how you design the driver's cab. Quote
Omikron Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 How do you people do these fancy renders of gears and mechanics? Quote
Freekysch Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Very nice model, cannot wait to see it. I think it is going to be one of my favorites. Quote
bekesizoltan Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Looks so promising,t ha tI can't wait to see it finished. Quote
TeClem8 Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 Hi guys ! Here is the progress of my truck. The cab and the dump is complete. You can also see a pallet forks. I look forward to making the arm to play with. Quote
Mickael Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Very nice design! The cab is clean and very detailed, I love. Your steering wheel is functional? Eager to see how you will succeed the crane, but it is very promising ... Good luck for the future! Edited January 18, 2015 by Mickael Quote
Milan Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Really great cabin! I just dont like the roof of the cabin. I think it would be nicer if it was made in one level, without the spoiler sticking one level above. The whole truck looks very robust and thick, and I especially like the crane base. Quote
TeClem8 Posted January 19, 2015 Author Posted January 19, 2015 Tanks ! Your steering wheel is functional ? No, you can see the 3D render on the first post. However, there is a space that would allow me to do so. But this is not easy because the cab is tilting. I just dont like the roof of the cabin. I think it would be nicer if it was made in one level, without the spoiler sticking one level above. I was afraid that the roof is too flat. I can lower it, but I do not want it to be too steep. The whole truck looks very robust and thick, and I especially like the crane base. Yes the truck is robust. With the loading it does not flex. I hope it will always be the case with the crane. The crane base was interesting to create, because there are 5 axes! (3 for the arme, and 2 for stabilizers) Quote
Milan Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I was afraid that the roof is too flat. I can lower it, but I do not want it to be too steep. Cabs on these types of trucks are usually daily cabs, and then, mostly flat. But if you tried it, and it does not look good, then I agree. As I said, cabin is great! Quote
trekman Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Really nice work to date. Much better than what I could do. Although I do find it hard to understand why some people would leave the building of the key attributes of the truck until the very end. Personally I always like to build items such as a crane early on, just to make sure that it will perform as expected. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 This is looking really nice, good job. All it needs now is a crane. Really great cabin! I just dont like the roof of the cabin. I think it would be nicer if it was made in one level, without the spoiler sticking one level above. Yes I do agree with you, what about using some cheese slopes 1x1? Quote
Rockbrick Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 lovely truck - getting a compact foldable/extendible crane on the back is probably going to take as long as the whole truck did Quote
