Mencot Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) Keliim just shrugs then at the witches answer and responces "Okay (not ok-ey)" and turns around and starts walking after Chauncey towards the exit. Edited January 27, 2015 by Mencot Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Boris shouldered his equipment. "Misguided bunch. We all set to get out of here?" Quote
bionicle_fanatic Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 "Ah..." How could a carpet be a riddle? Maybe there was something written on it... Karl shrugged, turning to Chauncy. "Let's be off, then." He bowed to the witch. "Always happy to help out." Quote
Zepher Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Chauncey leads the heroes back out of the sewers and over the crest of Sungold Hill until they come to the gates of Guffington Manor. Chauncey produces a key and unlocks the enormous doors. He leads the way into the small courtyard, and then around the house to a side entrance where Elba and U'Or wait patiently. "Have fun?" "Did you get what you need?" "Yes we did," says Chauncey with a small smile, before stepping towards the door. "And where are your gifts?" "They should be arriving right now they should be arriving!" And almost on cue, a few familiar faces approach from around the front of the house. "I apologize that we are a little late. I'm to blame, if the truth be told." He blushes a little, and looks much happier than when the heroes last saw him... happier perhaps than any hero has seen him in the past. "You'll never believe what happened. Grady was going through some old records, looking for some book he promised he'd let Daneeka borrow-" Grady slips U'Or the book- "when he stumbled upon an old record of my families that was all but forgotten about. It seems that my father wanted me to inherit one of the family blades. There are only a few of them, very nice weapons, though of course some one along the years let them fall to disrepair and I've had to take it upon myself to restore the one my father wanted me to have." "Isn't that lucky?" Grady says, glowering at the heroes. "Well I don't think luck has anything to do with it! I am certain my father always knew that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. He nearly made me the head of the house when Heinrich got into trouble with..." he glances at the sewer water left on the heroes... "perhaps that is not a story for such... mixed company." And speaking of mixed company... "Mighty Lord Hinckwell, didn't know you were coming to this shindig," says Shawe with a mocking bow. Grady rams himself between his employer and Samuel and shoves the former backwards. "Hey now, no need to get all prickly, Grady. We're friends when we're at Guffington's. Everyone is friends at Guffingtons, that's his rule, or don't you know that?" He looks past Grady to Elba, handing him the Charisian wine. "Speaking of friends... I may have brought a few extras. We got to drinking and didn't want to stop the drinking." Behind him marches Everyman, Everstien, and Avery. "Oh dear. Very mixed company." Henry's eyes narrow a little, but his grin can't be forced off his face. "I feel like I've been here before," murmurs Avery. "It is more than possible," cackles Everstien. "Maybe you'd be willing to serve us some drinks this time around, though." Everstien winks at Elba and U'Or, who seem a little confused by the whole thing. Before they have time to question it, however... the door behind them swings open and an elderly gentlemen walks out. He pauses upon seeing all the people. "What are you all doing outside my mansion!?" he asks gruffly, before chuckling a little to himself: "you'll catch a cold that way. Besides, the drinks are indoors. And I know that's what you're all here for. Don't deny it, Henry," he points accusingly to the Hinckwell. "What are you doing out here, Lord Guffington?" "Sometimes I like to come pee outside. Give back to the earth. Makes you feel freer, too." "Oh door. I garden in this courtyard." Guffington pats the U'Kin on the shoulder. "It's good for the flowers. Well, come on! We can't leave Daneeka inside all alone. And besides, I don't need an audience. Everyone is welcome!" He waves everyone indoors, the heroes included! It would be a night to remember! As the heroes walk through the mansion, Elba and U'Or hand them each 100 gold and a present wrapped up in a bow! The quest was a success! OoC: You guys can stay at/leave "the party" as soon or as late as you like! It's all just RP from here on in - pretty much everyone from the quest is here - but as soon as you all leave I will post final stats, along with what each of you got in your present! So please, RP or don't RP, whatever suits your fancy, and thanks for questing with me! Quote
Mencot Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) Keliim stays at the manor until dawn breaks, enjoying the food and drinking many mugs of mead. In good spirit the big man entertains the mix company with heroic stories from his homeland Roawia. Later on Keliim exchanges a good conversation with Lord Hinckwell as Grady was in a conversation with someone else and didn´t stick his nose into it. Keliim asked Henry about his past, adventurer dreams and the new found records about the inherited weapons, especially liked to hear the history of the blade. Ooc: Thank you Zepher, for hosting this awesome for us newcomers (or me and Bio atleast are newcomers). Great story and it was very balanced, despite the small rat trouble Edited January 27, 2015 by Mencot Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Boris strolled inside with the rest of the group. Obtaining a drink, the vampire settled himself next to Shawe. "Well master Shawe, I must complement you on your selection of wines, tis the first drink I've had that doesn't taste like sand and ashes." Quote
Zepher Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Shawe clinks his glass against Boris'. "I'm not too much of a connoisseur myself, but I'm glad to make someone happy. I stole a bottle or two from the Shadeaux stores, but they've got enough that they won't notice... I hope, at least." Quote

Grady says, glowering at the heroes. Karl grinned at Henri, a profound sense of contentment and closure enveloping him as he studied the old man's excited face. He glanced at Grady, who was looking as surly as ever, and wondered how old the "family record" really was. His respect for the soldier increased by quite a large margin. Guffington pats the U'Kin on the shoulder. "It's good for the flowers. Well, come on! We can't leave Daneeka inside all alone. And besides, I don't need an audience. Everyone is welcome!" He waves everyone indoors, the heroes included! It would be a night to remember! The whole gathering surged forward into the mansion with cheers and laughter, the promise of drink and merriment lightening everyone's hearts. Karl hung back with Boris and Keliim as their employers approached. The boy caught a leather pouch jingling full of gold in one hand, while U'Or pressed a brightly-wrapped present into his other. His smile lit up his features, tucking away the payment and running his hands over the gift with intrigue. His first proper present... He watched Elba and U'Or enter the house, followed by his two newfound friends. Guffington held open the door for him, an eyebrow raised questioningly. Karl smiled but shook his head, murmuring thanks before slipping away into the shadows. Fighting man-eating rats was one thing, but parties were a whole other story. A story he felt he would keep for another day, for another time. He slunk past a few drunken toughs, the street still wet from it's earlier downpour. He needed time to think things through, to take stock of all the wild and fantastic thing that had happened. He jogged nimbly in an easterly direction, always keeping to the backroads and fringes, arriving at the Hovel's wall. He found the rotting old haycart, crawled through the crack in the wall underneath it, and finally arrived at his favourite spot, the first one he'd been taken to, according to Duke. he rested his back against the charred stone of a baker's chimney, the long-dead fire having razed the rest of the building to the ground. It was quiet here, almost eerily so, the slight rustle of the breeze being the only sound. An island of peace in a sea of filth. Karl slid down the wall, ending up sitting on the floor with his legs crossed and his chin cupped in his hands. This had been the craziest day he'd had in a a long while. Old parchments, zombies, glowing red beings, like hot coals come to life. And then the dream. He massage his eyes with his knuckles, remembering the disjointed flashback he'd had when the rats had taken him out. It had been years since he'd dreamt of that night, whatever it was. He assumed it had something to do with his parents. It always ended with an explosion, like a Ji-Pei engine spontaneously combusting. He wondered why the memory had returned. Could it be linked to all this Heroica business? Maybe hero-ing wasn't the path he should follow. Thieving and conning was what he was good at, not braving unimaginable perils for the triumph of justice. He let out a long, heavy sigh, glancing at the present to his left. It looked to perfect, with it's shiny wrapping and ornate bow, that Karl was semi-reluctant to open it. But curiosity got the better of him, and he shifted his weight so as to better handle it. As he fiddled with the bow, he realized he and the gift were actually quite similar: Perfect on the outside, (or, contented, in his case), but needing to open up, to become something new, to embrace their true form. He smiled, understanding where, for the moment at least, his destiny lay. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Boris smiled and chuckled, "'Your storehouses will thus be overflowing with abundance and your wine presses besot with a flood of the juice of grapes.'" Boris clinked his glass to Shawe's "I doubt it will be missed. Reminds me of one of the priests who had an issue with the temple wines." The night wore on and though the alcohol did little to stimulate the vampire, the warm company was at least of some comfort and amusement. Guffington truly was a gracious host and it was early in the morning before the cleric bid the company a good night and left with reward in hand for his quarters. OoC: I think that's everybody. Thanks Zepher, a jolly good quest! Quote
Mencot Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 (edited) In a late hour, Keliim doesn´t even know what time it actually is but he knows it is probably best to start searching for a place to sleep. And that isn´t here at the Guffington Manor, Keliim looks around the place have silenced down, also Lord Hinckwell has slumbered away. Too bad he didn´t get to the point in the story where he would had told of the history of the old blade and the history of the heroes and warriors of Hinckwell family, the merchant part is intresting but Keliim would rather listen to stories about battle and heroic quests. Keliim gets up, leaves the old man to sleep in his peaceful place. The big man looks around again if he would find his friends anywhere but can´t find them, thinking they had probably already left. Considering Boris is a vampire it would be wise to leave before sunrise, one could think. And Karl, Keliim didn't see him around neither, maybe he had left also. He didn't after all seem like the drinking kind of guy. And it was getting late or early, it is how one would look at the situation. Keliim thought that he will catch up with the latter at the heroica Hall then As Keliim heads for the exit, he sees Shawe and Everstien speaking in a corner of the manor. Keliim thinks these two probably knows quite a bit of the underground and maybe would know the squad of thugs/pirates that Keliim was looking for, or a least give some hints where to look. He goes over to them and greets them and after little small talk about the days happenings, Keliim asks them: Thou two wouldn´t know anything where one could look for some pirates here in Eubric? Zepher Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 "You'll want to make your way back down to Lady Luck's Locale," says Shawe, clapping Keliim on the back. "Don't let the Bonapartes know you're there." The heroes all unwrap their individual gifts, and even on such cold winter nights they feel merry and warm knowing they've made friends in Eubric.
