Josephiah Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 If LDD all becomes too much, then a decent set of staged photos as you disassemble might be a decent substitute :) And the beauty of it being a C-model is there's much less need for a bill of materials. Quote
arik Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Well done! Any chance of getting a video of it? It'd be great if you could make a LDD file of the model, although it'll take some effort to do this big model in it. Building instructions generated by LDD are probably not that useful, as the steps are going to be in a strange order. But just the LDD model should be sufficient for replicating the build, with some effort of course. I like to document my own creations with LDD so that I remember how I solved different building problems and to be able to build the model again later. Maybe some day I'll take a look at LDraw and other tools... The other option is to just take good photos when disassembling the model. In reverse order they work as building instructions. Quote

Great idea I'll definitely do that if I have trouble figuring my way around LDD Well done! Any chance of getting a video of it? Ah, I understand. I have very limited experience with graphic designing, I just took my first introductory CAD class last semester so if LDD is anything like Solidworks it's going to be tough to create an entire model in it. But I'll give it a shot anyway. I might disassemble this pretty soon anyway because 42009 is the only technic set I own right now ( I had a couple of other sets when I was around 12 years old, they got lost while moving). Expect a lot more 42009 C models from me Quote
Josephiah Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Heh, yes, this crane was the set that tempted me back too. Though I'm fortunate enough not to have lost all of my old sets, which I'm now revisiting with much nostalgia! Quote
OG_technic Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 (edited) Heh, yes, this crane was the set that tempted me back too. Though I'm fortunate enough not to have lost all of my old sets, which I'm now revisiting with much nostalgia! Haha, it really is a fantastic set. I'm glad I went with this over the 9398. I feel like this set is much more versatile. BTW, to anyone who's still interested, I already have a few ideas for an MKII C-model (D-model ? ). Made some ( awful) prelim sketches of what I want it to look like. Please forgive me for my horrible art Basically, I want it to be a bigger, better and more complex 8436 with a hooklift....An homage, pretty much. It's going to be tough to have all these functions with just 6 LAs, but I'm going to try my best. I have a few set functions/list of improvements that I really want to incorporate in, like Dual rear wheels Ackermann steering Functions that are more intuitive to operate ( more linearity in the direction of functions) Better interior Modularity A transversely mounted I-4 engine Easier access to the battery box Edited January 9, 2015 by OG_technic Quote
Rishab N Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 That sounds really promising. Looking forward to what you come up with Quote
AssembleToDissasemble Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 (edited) you planning on making instructions for this model? Looks pretty cool Edited January 9, 2015 by AssembleToDissasemble Quote

emielroumen Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Hi there. I just finished the construction of MrTekneex model D (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117505) and love the MOC. Just before I gave the GMK6400 a try after ordering a lot of additional parts. Especially the turntable reaches the lego limit. A 0.5 liter bottle of water as counter weight proved quite good actually. The manual was bought from MrTekneex obviously! I did buy his model C instructions a while back too but did not yet have the opportunity to build the model. Any chance we'll see instructions from this tow truck here too? Quote
emielroumen Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Don't want to bump the thread for just myself. I would be willing to pay a (small) fee for the building instructions for this MOC, maybe some other enthusiasts are interested too? Quote
