Ribatagus Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 (edited) I have been saving some brickshelf folders, from all my friends, coleagues or just some interesting moc's and other stuff I found. It was usual for me to do this before, but now I got a new "boost"... so i saved the following brickshelf pages: 000 0937Community Alexolim ambs Athos Auricom AVCampos bhamilto1 blu3-fir3 blueblock0937 chadzicz Clarki Conchas crowkillers DanielHall danielpc davidazevedo drclark1 Einon17 elalfreddo evildead Federico074 figueifoto gijoe43 gsantos Hendrik681 Jarvin JayFields jeroenvandorst jorgereis LBaixinho LennyLumas loco luckferraro ludo-soete luists MagnusLauglo MariaSofia mclaren11 mic9999 Namath NunoLino nxtpt obscurance Patuara PCastanho pedroagnelo peterlmorris PLUG PocasNuckie PSilva puffypolo79 redskin ribatagus rogerthegogogoPt Romas ruialmeida rupi sergio Steen sugegasa tbaixinho Triathletus ValkyrieVF1 WillM xico666 My friends from the 0937 Comunity are also saving brickshelf pages to "save the past" (in this topic) http://forum0937.miniancora.com/index.php?topic=1771.0 notice that my intention is "saving the past before it's too late", nothing else... i will respect the copyright from all the pics and their owners. dunamis Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Just an FYI, I noticed when I was backing up Felix Greco's folder that it only got about half of the files. If you look at his folder, it is two pages. The BSBackup program didn't get the second page. However, I noticed that if you put this string "felixisgr8&n=48" in the "Get By User" field, it will grab the second page of his work. I thought the author of this utility said this was fixed so maybe it is an intermittent bug. Just an FYI as you might want to go back and verify you are getting multiple pages of the BS folders you are trying to get. Quote
gylman Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I'm finding that as I look at some of people's picks for great folders to download I am discovering or rediscovering great creations that I have never seen or forgotten about. It's really getting me excited again about building, in a way I haven't been for a couple of years. This has been a terrible year for me with regard to Lego due to work and family contraints, but as I look at all these amazing thigns I am getting an uncontrollable urge to build something. Sadly, except for my keychain related stuff I almost never photograph anything I build because I always think it's crap compared to what the really good builders make, so I have basically no record of all the stuff I built in the past 7 years since I came out of my dark ages. Anyone else feeling the same way? Feeling the urge to go build something worthy of putting up? Quote
Iron Moose Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I can't see a single BS folder - everything I'm clicking on is 'not yet public'. What's up with that? Quote
gylman Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Yep, I'm getting the same thing. I suspect that the traffic resulting from all these downloads is overwhelming the server, and the operator has shut things down for a while. Just a speculation.... I could be totall wrong. EDIT: People at classic space are reporting similar problems. Quote
Hobbes Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 You can access single galleries through their number, like this, but you can't access them via member name, like this. Same goes for BSBackup. Hopefully that'll change, I don't have all the numbers I need :-( Quote
Wolf02 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 (edited) hello all, i'm trying to download Legomaster, junlego and PepaQuin galleries i have already about 8000 files downloaded, but when i was dlding these galleries, brickshelf closed the access to the member galleries, do you have the ID numbers of the folders of these galleries? (and if possible there's a way to change the visible name for my account? i wanted 01 not 02, but is dark and with hurry it happened to be 02 :) ) Edited July 19, 2007 by Wolf02 Quote
El Bucanero Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 (edited) Same goes for BSBackup. What is this BSBackup exactly? Mr Tiber EDIT: I love these: Inn at the olde Road. The Scimitar. Edited July 19, 2007 by Mr Tiber Quote
Hobbes Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 What is this BSBackup exactly? A download utility, free for download here. Extract and start, no installation needed. Quote
gylman Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Well, right now nothign is working for me at all, not even the BS home page. Quote
dunamis Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Well, right now nothign is working for me at all, not even the BS home page. Same here, I got nothin... Quote
Dryw Filtiarn Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Have you been downloading heavily??? If so Kevin probably blocked your IP adres, just like he did to my main IP address, as well as 2 others hosts that I was using to proxy (for the fact that my main IP was blocked). I must say though, that my main IP already has been unblocked. Quote
Hinckley Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Have you been downloading heavily??? If so Kevin probably blocked your IP adres, just like he did to my main IP address, as well as 2 others hosts that I was using to proxy (for the fact that my main IP was blocked). I must say though, that my main IP already has been unblocked. He may not be blocking IP addresses as much as the site's bandwidth is simply being exceeded. If he's tired of the site, I have a hard time believing he's sitting there nailing down IP addresses of people who are downloading and blocking them. The site's service is going to be intermittent in it's death throes. An entire community is frantically downloading from it. Just be patient as it will be up and down. Unless I'm wrong and he just shut it down early. In that case you can tell me where to go, huh? :-$ Quote
gylman Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 It seems hard to believe that he is selectively blocking IPs, but I imagine a script could be written for this. I would imagine that the bandwidth BS has been using in the last couple of days is incredible. Quote
Dryw Filtiarn Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I'm quite sure that he has been blocking my IP address previously (as mentioned, it's unblocked again) as I simply could not get onto Brickshelf nor Maj.com, while at the same time I could access them from elsewhere. Quote
gusmoore17 Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Mr Hobbes, I'm afraid the links you've posted are both unaccesable by the moment, as almost the rest of the ones posted in this forum. Nevertheless, the ones I have accessed are just magnifique!! I am very very sad :'-( about brickshelf's shutdown, there's gotta be a way of sharing this terrific ideas in the future!! By the moment, let's celebrate the old days!! :-D Quote
gylman Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I have to agree- the Brickshelf crisis has made me look at so many amazing Lego creations that it is really inspiring. It's a silver lining in the cloud of this sad event. Quote
CopMike Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I love this stuff *wub* : mwv1970 Sooooo Gooood On copmike Quote

john cleese Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 (edited) well i made a topic like this (seen here and i would like to nominate this topic for a pin. I hate searching brickshelf and this could be a very useful tool. Edited September 4, 2007 by john cleese Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Unless I'm wrong and he just shut it down early. In that case you can tell me where to go, huh? :-$ FLICKR! X-D Truthfully... I'm loving that site. I was forced to peruse it during BS's downtime... and it's grown on me. And so much more there than just Lego. I'll still save my stuff to BS as usual, but now I'm deeplinking new images I put in topics from Flickr, as it's more reliable. And best of all, you can actually figure out easily how to donate to Flickr, though you don't have to. Brickshelf just needs that. A bigass donate button with the text under it "Site is ailing for funds. Help out, please?". Quote
Hinckley Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 FLICKR! X-D I meant if I was wrong, you could tell me to go to hell. Way to misquote me two months after I said something :-| :-P But I agree with you *sweet* Flickr is a great alternative to the perpetual poop factory that BS has been lately. Anyone have a clear idea of what is going on over there? Quote
Corvus Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 the perpetual poop factory Ew.. I'd hate to work there. :-X :-P :-| No idea what's happening there. Whatever it is, it's probably going to take a while. "AFOL KARMA" I think it's called... I haven't tried Flickr. Probably because I have to sign up to *shudder* yahoo. :-X I don't like Yahoo. Why? It keeps polluting my computer with it's junk, even when I tell them I don't want it. :-/ Quote
