Nacho Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Hi everyone, Long time Lego fan back into it now as an adult like most of us here I guess. I've been building up some Lego sets over the past year, Simpsons House, Mini Cooper, Ghostbusters, Delorean etc. which now fully have me hooked! This year I'm starting my modular city project, back as a kid I used to have a huge work surface running the length of my room which I built my city with, unfortunately all that went when I left home so I'm now back starting from scratch. The modulars look ideal for what I'm going to do so I have bought Palace Cinema, Parisian Restaurant and the Petshop sets with the idea of creating a mini town scene across a sideboard in a spare / play room. As time progresses I'll add the Detectives Office and possibly one of the older sets if they're still reasonable enough on ebay. Anyway, back to my question! I'm creating my own road and pavements rather than using the ready made road plates because they are just too big for what I need. I'm going to create a tiled road on baseplates and look at lifting the modulars up a plate height to create a curb. The problem I have is I just don't know what colours are called! I need to create a pavement exactly as what is included on the modulars, can you help me identify: The darker 2x2 tiles The lighter 1x6 tiles Please? I plan on using black tiles for the roads. I have seen reference on ebay and bricklink to Light Grey, Dark Grey, Blue Grey etc. etc. and I can't work it out. Thanks in advance :) (Ps I did search, a lot, but can't see it detailed anywhere) Quote
eurotrash Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) The 2x2 tiles are Dark Bluish Gray http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3068 The 1x6 tiles are Light Bluish Gray http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6636 Here's a link to the color-palette. You'll notice that some of the older colors are no longer available (particularly the older grays). Just stick with Dark Blue Gray and Light Blue Gray and you'll be fine. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp Good luck! Edited January 7, 2015 by eurotrash Quote
Nacho Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 Excellent thank you very much I will be posting more actively soon and will try to detail my progress too. Quote
brickgrrl Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Nacho, both Bricklink and Brickowl will let you pull up set inventories, which can be very helpful if you have some of the color and want to know what it is called. Good luck! Watch out - Bricklink doesn't use the colors Lego does, which makes ordering from Bricks and Pieces treacherous sometimes! Quote
notaromantic Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Here's a link to Bricklink's "Modular" page. Browse through and pay special attention to the "Inventory" pages of each. In a short while, depending upon how OCD you are about such things, you'll be more than familiar with the colors, and parts, and etc..., etc..., etc... http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=S&catString=710 For instance, here's the inventory page for the Parisian Restaurant: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=10243-1 You'll be scooting along in no time. elleana Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Also you'll frequently find that on EB and other similar places "Bluish Grey" is abbreviated to bley, so you will see references to dark bley and light bley. Quote
