I like history, castle and fantasy minifigures and I'm getting 0 of those here. And with the Simpsons Series 2, that would be 2 series in a row..

As a castle/fantasy fan I see:

MissVampire + witch = updated version of VILLA THE WITCH

2872.jpg

The skeleton body will be good for nightmare/skull themed -knights

The Flower-boy will be great for unusual flora designs and torso/legs will be great for fairies/driadas!

Wow, I didn't even notice the leaks these days. Same opinion, it's a bipolar idea. It's very seasonal and could target at the market more precisely, but would keep FOLs waiting for the individual characters they really want. And this also means LEGO designers can hardly make more creative monsters in later series.

We could immediately recall those complaints against the robots from TLM due to that the torsos can't be for MOCs. And this series is a bigger case. Though I never care about that too much.

The Halloween theme mix up some cosplayers with really zombies, this is an idea I like. However not all of the ghost-career combinations are memorable enough. Zombie sea captain is hideous (PotC?) The new cheerleader works for me since she reminds me of school horrors films.

There are inevitably rehashings, but both the Wolfman the Frankenstein are just lazest rehashings, while the new crazy scientist looks awesome. Furry Grandma might be a better idea than an ordinary wolfman, though I assume Toth is closer to his goal of a fairytale series.

The new double pigtails looks like something girly FOLs have been waiting for, but I also expect the return of the classic town pigtails.

The lady vampire says "Elvira - Mistress of the Dark" to me with Velma Staplebots's hair in black ;)

Absolutely! That was my first reaction upon seeing her, too.

Also...if this IS the start of new 'themed' series releases, I think a Castle series would be a good idea, not a bad one. Why? 'Townies' and 'court functionaries'. A chance for more civilians and lords/ladies that fall outside the realm (pardon the pun) of any typical Castle theme sets. Different colours, different jobs, different eras even, perhaps? I relish the thought of this sort of thing, since it would harken back to the old Castle battle packs of days gone by, where you would get assorted warriors/knights, Forestmen, townies, etc...except BETTER, since instead of six, you'd get SIXTEEN!

Just my two cents.

I wont get many of this series unless there are some good surprises in the missing ones!

I will get the witch because of her new black cat which is great :classic:

And the tiger woman looks good!

Even though this is not one of my favourite series, I understand that they like to experiment with the theme and the kids will love it! Hopefully they will make one series with only animals one day

I'm surprised by how many people think the new scientist looks like a Despicable Me minion. Sure, I get it, his head is tall and he has kooky goggles. But he's a representation of the "cartoon scientist with a brain that's too big for his head". The skin color is unfortunate since it lends the comparison more easily, but his face is on the bottom of his head and he has tufts of hair. People are being more dismissive of this series than I thought.

And this is a forum with LEGO fans commenting.... you should see reception outside of the AOLF world.

Some of my coworkers usually ask me to get them some Minifigures like the S10 Sad Clown, the S12 Wizard, the S7 Aztec Warrior, the S7 Hippie,... despite no being LEGO collectors.

This time, they literally laughed when I showed them the pictures. I felt ashamed of collecting these for the first time on my life. :sceptic:

Even some some friends, who have bought all the CMF's told me they won't buy this series because LEGO "jumped the shark" with this one.

I'm curious why people don't like the wolfman, but don't comment on Frankenstein's monster (with a guitar ).

At least the wolfman is significantly different than the previous CMF wolfman.

Rocker Monster is just the worst of the worst..... Lady Cyclops looks like the S3 Elf compared to him

And I don't like this new werewolf. Looks like a guy with a mask.

The S4 Werewolf is waaaay better since he looks half human/half wolf. That's what a werewolf is supposed to be.

They only minifigures that worth the $4 are Tiger Suit Girl and the "Good" Witch, which look great

Not necessarily. The Halloween-style "wolfman" is usually upright but with a fully canine head. This one is just an excuse to reuse the Monster Fighters head. I see the Series 4 Werewolf as "mid-transformation".

The MF werewolf has a different headmold compared to the new one.

With this series on the horizon, I wonder about the future of CMF and if the themed series are simply more exciting for the general population than the regular ones. After getting Series 13, I was excited to see what we was in store for Series 14, since I had no plans to grab Simpsons Series 2. After the recent pictures leaked, I was disappointed.

I'm not really against any of these figures, per se - I just feel grouping them in a "monster" CMF theme lessens their overall impact. The impact is further diminished by the fact the monsters draw inspiration from "classic" Halloween characters and pretty much exclude monsters from other genres. Additionally, none of these figures seem to possess army-building potential, which is a big draw for many CMF collectors.

Personally, I'd much rather get 16 figures that draw inspiration from a wide array of genres than get 16 figures from one theme. Seeing the Witch and Tiger Girl alongside space, castle, and city/town figures would have made them more exciting for me.

Hmm, the werewolf does have a new head. Why? There didn't need to be a new piece for it! This is one occasion in which I think the new moulds can be wasteful. Unless the old one went out of production, there really didn't need to be a new werewolf head!

EDIT: Wait, what if it's a mask? :sweet: There seem to be more costumes than monsters in this series, and it would be just like the Studios/Harry Potter mask, so if you own the Lumberjack, you can transform him. Never mind! If it's a mask, I'll gladly take the new piece!

The werewolf head is the same one from Monster Fighters

Can't believe they wasted a new mould for a rehashed minifigure.

We already got a wolf head on Studios, professor Lupin head in the Harry Potter theme and Monster Fighters

Did we need another one?

That's why my guess is that it's a mask. Costume or transformation? You decide!

If it is a head inside.... that would be the Series 5 Lumberjack head. Right?

Next week Nuremberg Toy Fair will take place.

Last year, we got to see Series 12 box there. And it even had the right color (In NY Toy Fair the box was gray).

LEGO-The-Simpsons-CM.jpg

I hope we'll see "Series 14" box there.

I wonder if it is going to have a special color scheme being a Halloween themed series. Maybe black with orange question marks?

Yes, we did. The old mask would look sort of dated in today's sets, and probably went out of production years ago.

I hope that if there is a head, it's a new expression for the Lumberjack. Perhaps angry or nervous?

I can see this appealing to some people and even perhaps my boys. As for me personally, my wallet will not take a hit from this at all. I would not buy them even if they were half the price. The new Scooby Doo sets will provide me with some "monsters".

Just a guy out looking for a fun game of hockey, using your head as the puck.

I was in a pub when I read your comment and I literally LOLed  . The people around me gave me funny looks.

And I don't like this new werewolf. Looks like a guy with a mask.

I think he's supposed to. In fact, I think the entire series is of Halloween party-goers, not actual monsters.

I would have preferred fantasy/mythological creatures and, failing that, horror monsters, but I'll settle for people in monster costumes. As long as they don't have zips or other obviously modern features, you can always pretend they're monsters.
