But this is a Halloween series and Día de los Muertos is celebrated on November 1st.

It's a different thing (as far as I know)

Besides, I see you are think too straight about the 5 missing minifigures:

Of course it would be nice to get Mothman, Igor, Headless Horseman, Monster Bride, a Classic Ghost, the Mutant, the Invisible Man or the Grim Reaper, but look at the minifigures of this series: a rocker monster.... ??? a zombie pirate...???

Probably the other 5 minifigures will be as dumb as those. Something like a Grandma Mummy, Skater Vampire or Jogger Witch

I have to disagree with what you're saying that the other 5 will be monsters with certain costumes like the rocker monster or zombie pirate because keep in mind we've already had a normal zombie and Frankenstein-like monster in previous minifg series and lego is probably trying to differentiate these figures with those series and their MF series.

However, you are most likely correct about a dia de los muertos figure not being very likely because it's a completely different thing from halloween and this is more towards everyone's typical idea of halloween monsters, costumes and such.

Also, something I'd like to say about the zombie cheerleader is how I really don't like the fact she is smiling... it wouldn't be a problem if she has 2 faces one smiling one frowning or a typical dead expression, and I really wish she were a zombified version of one of the previous cheerleaders but it is nice that she has a new hair mold.

Hmmm? What else might be lurking in there as yet unseen?

Dark Elder God Cthullu. Normally I would say this one as a gag. But look at the Alien Troopers head.

Invisible Man still seems like one missing from that old sketch sheet.

The Fly. A bug head on the fig?

Phantom of the Opera?

Hunchback?

Sea Witch? Using the legs from the AC Emperor and Atlantis squid guy?

Sea Witch? Using the legs from the AC Emperor and Atlantis squid guy?

I certainly wouldn't mind this! I thought about a sea witch CMF the other day - She would look cool with S4's Crazy Scientist's hairpiece. A sea-snake or eel as an accessory?

However, I question if they can put the squid leg piece in a CMF bag - for two reasons. For one, it might be too large in the packaging, moreso than even so-called bulky Medusa's snake tail. Second, after a quick look on LDD, the torso-leg connection and leg-baseplate connection aren't directly on top of one another, off-centering her on the base plate. It kind of throws off the whole figure display. The squid legs also might be too big for the CMF display cases...

Anyway, I would think that if we actually do get a sea witch, it would have an updated version of squid legs, one that is less bulky and doesn't overpower the base plate.

That would be nice! A thinner pair of upright legs with the tentacles as feet at the bottom-think similar to the shape of the Ninjago Moro ghost legs but sleeker and with tentacle molding. (like Celia from Monsters Inc, perhaps.) Of course, a fat Ursula-style sea witch would be better suited with the Atlantis legs. For now, I think that's just wishful thinking, though.

So now the ones I want would be:

Bride of Frankenstein

Female mummy (reusing Egyptian Queen headdress)

Igor

caecilian (half-squid/octopus) Sea Witch

Pumpkin Headed Scarecrow (this is the most likely, the mask had the number 14 on it in the Taobao pics)

Spooky Boy (hoping that's the character that Skeleton Boy's head goes to).

Phantom of the Opera?

Hunchback?

Ignoring Disney license or actualy figure design of disabilities, a Literature Series could make sense for these.

My guess has another Pumpkin ghost (reused from Scooby), Lake Ghost, a Japanese version of ghost.

I really wish she were a zombified version of one of the previous cheerleaders but it is nice that she has a new hair mold.

I can see your idea, but the torso wouldn't be a new one as result. She might come from somewhere like Monster High to compete with the human teams.

The Red Cheerleader was rather a right timing for this hair..... though LEGO should at least give a different old mold.

caecilian (half-squid/octopus) Sea Witch

Sorry, this is bugging me...did you mean cephalopod? A caecilian is something entirely different. (Specifically, it's a blind, legless, burrowing amphibian--looks like a big earthworm until it opens its mouth.)

I misspelled it. I meant to say "cecaelia" which refers to a mythical humanoid creature that has the lower body of a squid or octopus. It's a fairly obscure term though. It's where the aforementioned Celia from Monsters Inc. gets her name.

I hope not. I sat out Simpsons Series 1 and will sit out Simpsons Series 2 and might only get a few of the Halloween series. We really need a mix of serious and silly, historic, modern, and futuristic for a successful series.

In the Series 13 thread this is talk about people hating Lady Cyclops and not understanding the popularity of Hot Dog Guy. But there are plenty of people that like them. I think for a Series to be successful the characters have to appeal to a broad range of people. You don't need everyone to love every character though.

If Series 14 had five or six Halloween themed characters but then covered other ground, I think that would be a success. After all, Series 11 had three strongly Christmas themed characters and a few that might stretch for it.

I was hoping they would forget the Halloween-themed series after the poor reception the pictures got..... but it seems that wasn't the case :sadnew:

Anyway, I'll pray the designers will be visited by 3 ghosts this night and tomorrow they will rectify about that horrendous idea.

Agree! We already got a series with 3 Horror themed minifigures: Series 4 with the Crazy Scientist, the Werewolf and the Monster. (Oddly, the 3 are being rehashed in this series)

Actually, I wonder if this Series 14 is a reboot of the CMF theme: they are rehashing a lot of minifigures under the excuse of a themed series.

Maybe the next series will a Space-themed and they will release again the Spaceman, Intergalactic Girl, Space Villain, Galaxy Patrol.... or a Castle series with rehashes of the King, the Forestman, the Princess, the Jester, the Elf, ...

Some LEGO themes are rebooted regularly like Pirates and Castle. Maybe after 5 years, it's time for the CMF theme for being rebooted.

Glad they didn't. Some of us are looking forward to them.

Great idea! Then they can make minifigs out of them for the next holiday-themed series!

It'd be really cool to see some sort of a supernatural hunter CMF - a character with a silver-bolt crossbow and a garlic bunch?

If were such a character made, would LEGO fit them with the Monster Fighters theme, or would they take him/her a different direction?

I'm still hoping for a ghost with a genie tail, a new mask that fits over a black minifig head, and a ball-and-chain as an accessory. The mask enables its use as a costume, and unlike the previous ghost headpiece, it covers a minifig's head but still allows rotation.

Also - does anyone think these characters would appear in the Minifigures MMO? Does it stand to reason they're going to make a Horror-themed world as a result?

Gingerbread man and the elf, but which was the 3rd?

Do you mean something similar to Van Helsing? That would be cool but he would be "too serious" for this series... almost all the minifigures look like a joke.

And I agree, it would be cool. I even posted something similar in the "What minifigs are we missing" thread:

13. Gender: Male

Occupation/print on torso: Monster Hunter

Type of headgear: Butch Cavendish headpiece (black hat and hair)

Type of facial expression: Confident/angry. Black bandana printed (just eyes visible)

Color on torso/legs: (All black) leather vest and trench coat

Accessory: Crossbow

I wonder if we will see more one themed lines coming?

My guess is we will be seeing more. I think a more themed type cmf would appeal to non-lego or only occasional buyers. They could buy many of the minifigs without having to invest in sets. Simpsons being a great example. Some may even feel compelled to collect them all.

The usual cmfs might seem pretty random to the casual observer and don't really provide any pop culture appeal. They cover a wide variety of themes that aren't going to be compelling to those not already buying lego. Personally i never buy all of a series only getting the ones either I or my children find interesting. Mainly they are used to supplement displays and other various sets. If I didn't buy lego I probably wouldn't mess with them.

That's not going to happen, especially when the pictures weren't intended for release. But it's one themed series that's trying to take advantage of having a lot of Halloween LEGO out at the same time. I never saw anyone complaining about the Monster Fighters villains being obvious rehashes of the CMFs, but here, there's a lot of hatred for characters that on the whole, look vastly different from their previous counterparts. I seriously doubt this will continue, and it's not the end of the world. I'm mad about a second Simpsons series, but I'll wait it out. If you don't like them, don't buy them. I personally love monsters and am excited to get some more. There are people who like these, and not everything LEGO makes will have universal appeal. I would probably be unhappy with S14 if it was a Pirates series, since it's a theme I have minimal interest in, but I wouldn't freak out and proclaim the doom of LEGO and my hatred for the series. LEGO's just trying for a cash-grab that will allow Scooby-Doo and Halloween CMFs to share shelf space.

Well, I would much rather see themed series (Halloween/horror, Castle, Pirates, Space) than licensed ones (Simpsons, DC/Marvel, ...) taking up the slots for standard series. Thats an important distinction to me - even TLM CMFs were easier to swallow because they felt more like a standard series.

And about a vampire hunter figure with a crossbow and garlic, that wouldnt exactly be a new concept for a figure, since Ann Lee of the MF theme was all about that.
