As we suspected, the "these are not finals" statement meant they didn't have the accessories

And that catalog says the release date is october. So, the press release of NY Toy Fair was wrong about that.

Oh, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Lady Vampire's cape!

I do like the Vampire lady, as I never got anything like it during Monster Fighters.

After seeing this picture, I think her name is actually Spider Lady, as the Czech website said.

It looks like the bag color will be black, which was the same for series 8. I guess they're running out of colors. This makes it a bit hard when you try to create a display using the same color as the series. I guess I'll use trans-black for this series.

I think her face should have larger fangs or even mandibles if she is supposed to be a spidery humanoid. She looks to be a vampire with a spider motif (She even uses the vampire cape), though I could see her being called "Spider Lady". I'll still put her with my vampires on my monster minifig baseplate.

Shame about the bag color. I was hoping from the pumpkin-shaped Toy Fair teaser that the color would be dark blue.

Glad to see the Vampyre Cape is going to be made in the new style. Don't like that it has a spider web printing on it. Hopefully we'll get the standard black design in the future.

I don't think there's anything new about it. It looks like the same one-piece cape we've gotten before in the MF and CMF themes, with the color and printing being different.

Isn't this cape transparent?

Isn't this cape transparent?

It doesn't look like it to me. Yes, that would look more like a spider web, but it looks like dark grey cloth with black printing, which I still like. If it were transparent, it would need to be plastic, which would be too difficult to fold (and too thick) for this type of cape.

Ugh...why doesn't the skeleton have the full leg printing on the front? Looks terrible without it. I'm really pumped for this series though, right up my alley.

That is starting to bug me now. It would make more sense for it to have the leg bones printed on the front. All skeleton suits do.

EDIT: I just noticed that this series is slated for an October release. Does that mean it'll have a much shorter run, or will it be awkwardly available through December?

And we'll have Halloween on Christmas.

I'm willing to bet they'll be awkwardly sold through to December while we wait for the next Series. It's a shame they won't be out until October, since it gives the Simpsons figures more undeserved shelf time like last year.

Based on the fact the background line graphics can be seen through it, the Spider Lady's cape is most definitely transparent. Not too sure how they pulled that one off, though. We saw transparent-like cloth pieces with the Hobbit's Mirkwood Spider set, so we may see something here along those lines in terms of material.

I personally like how the Skeleton Boy is printed. Based on what I've seen from all Lego figures, there's no way for printing to go all the way down to the feet on the front sides of the legs. Any attempt at printing there would look incomplete, cutting it off at the shins. Printing the bones on the side of the legs is thus the only alternative to no printing at all.

I love, love, LOVE his pumpkin pail. I've been using the leprachaun's pot with a handle to simulate a chamber pot, and now we see another great use of the two parts together.

Great to see the witch with a broom and a cat. One of my must haves for sure. The Rocker, on the other hand, I will most likely skip. Can't wait to see the rest!

Is the Monster with the red guitar supposed to refer to the current Mad Max movie? Or have we ever seen a Frankenstein Monster with a guitar?

I think that it is supposed to be a reference to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, when Meatloaf appears.

Anyway, I am hyped for this series so far. I have to get multiple of the skeleton guy now; I love that basket!

By newer cape style. I meant with the softer fabric. Not the stiff capes that we had back in Monster Fighters.

That might be unlikely. The softer capes are so far reserved for the Super Heroes theme, and usually when there's a vehicle to be sat in. The Evil Wizard, and superhero Bart/Milhouse figs didn't have softer capes. But if the Spider Lady's cape is indeed translucent, then I'm sure her cape will be made from a thinner, more flexible fabric.

EDIT: Looking again, I think the rain streaks are in front of her cape, not behind. One rain streak in the top right can be seen going behind her cape, and it can't be seen through the collar below the point where it passes behind. Methinks the graphic designers just put them in front of the cape to avoid distracting from the fig, no matter how impossible it is.

This wait until October is not only unpractical (since we have only October to get them all before Halloween), but it's cruel! I absolutely adore most of these figures (especially that Spider Lady), and I'm sure when we see more official pics soon, I'll have an even harder time waiting. At least there are summer sets to look for until then.

Unless of course the release date in the u.s. Is different. Closer to the scooby doo release which I believe is also earlier in the u.s.

I wonder what the chances are of the gargoyle having back-wings instead of ones attached to the arms? I'd like that, particularly as I've been enjoying a lot of Disney's Gargoyles nostalgia lately.

To answer your second question first (and to be a wise guy), "to be a completionist." I understand the mentality all too well... I didn't buy Market Street, for example; I thought it was just ugly. But then I got into the modular buildings, and it's the only one I don't have. As far as CMFs go, I LOVE my fairly-complete display. My interest in them is waning, and I wasn't interested in, for example, the LEGO Movie series - so I only got the ones I want, but so far I've got all the regular series and both Simpson's series, either on display or waiting for me to build more display, and all the displays together is something to behold, with 13 regular series + 2 Simpsons series, that's 240 figures so far.

This is the last picture I took of my CMFs, back in January. It's missing Series 13 and Simpsons 2; I also did not care for the LEGO Movie figures. I also didn't get TGB. But I can sometimes just walk up to those shelves and stare at and scan through all the figures - sometimes I do that just to get ideas for MOCs to build around them.

So except for TGB and the LEGO Movie, I've got them all on display, and I have complete sealed sets of them all for posterity (except Simpsons 2)... maybe I'll donate them some day, maybe give to grand kids (my kids are teens now, not very interested in LEGO). Maybe make a fortune. Who knows. But I also have collected a TON of the figures to use in building my own stuff - so when I do that, I just get the ones I want, but I do want complete series.... however...

I have decided that what I have is enough - I probably should have stopped at series 10; that's a nice round number to have all complete series, but as I said, my interest is waning, so for the first time since series 3 (except the LEGO movie), I didn't order a case for Simpsons 2 - I just felt packs and traded for what I couldn't find, and have enough to display and a few extras I can use for fun. I think with series 14, I'll just be getting a few of the ones I want; I'm not sure, though, because 14 would make an even number for displays (each display case has two series), but I may just fill it in with the figures from the LEGO Movie I did get, plus some of the series 14 ones - I don't know. But yeah, my CMF completionist days are over.

What makes up those clear covers for your minifig collections?

Cheers!

I agree completely. But wouldn't that be a lot of big parts in a small CMF bag? That would be unprecedented I guess.

I hope so. Most classic gargoyles have separate wings and arms. I wonder if he'll get a new wing piece, since a dual-stud neck harness with clip plates and wings attached, would be too much of a sub-assembly for a CMF.

They are from the Container Store; see this thread and this thread for cases and ideas and discussion on displaying minifigure collections.

I'm thinking the Gargoyle's wings will be a new piece, attaching to the neck, like the Fairy wings. I only say this because anything else would either be to large to fit into a CMF blind bag or, as 8BrickMario mentioned, too complex of an assembly typical of CMFs. It's certainly not anything new for them to do a new headpiece and a new part that attaches to the body, like we saw for the Lizard Man or Unicorn Girl. It just means the Gargoyle will likely be without an accessory.

Similarly, I wonder what the Fly Monster's wings will look like. The Insectoid wings from Galaxy Squad look too tech-y, while the CMF Fairy wings seem too dainty. If the latter were to appear on the fly, they would likely be trans-brown.
