My guess is a plastic "cape" like the wings used for Twitch and the Geonosians. The Fairy's wings are too butterfly-like and cute for the Fly.

What about the wings from the Beetle from Spider-Man? Too square?

Interesting that you mention plastic cape-wings for the Fly Monster, since it would be the first time they showed up in CMFs. But it may be a possibility considering the Spider Lady's cape is transparent and could also be made of the plastic, even if it would be too bulky at the neck.

Those are the same wings used by the Galaxy Squad aliens. As such they feel a bit too technologically-advanced, and as you said, too square for the Fly Monster.

Twitch had hard trans-clear folded wings, but that mold is likely the property of Disney. The CMF Fairy wings would work in trans-clear or trans-black if they had some iridescent printing. Has anyone else considered that the body of this fly character could be that of a scientist, like the old B-movie The Fly (not the Jeff Goldblum remake)?

It's possible, but I don't think it would make for a very nice-looking figure. Besides, we're already getting a scientist character, so I think it'll be a fully anthropomorphic fly without clothes. I cannot wait to see more pictures, but I think late July would be the earliest we'll see the group pic.

I'm happy to see some more positivity toward these figures now. I think the few finished ones we've seen have proved to be unique and useful. I know a lot of concepts are repeated, but some still look great, and once we see all of them with all of their parts, I'm sure they'll look much better, like the Spider Lady. She looks fantastic with that cape, while she was less interesting to me before, and the Skeleton Guy's bucket is both a creative reuse and quite charming. I'm also glad to see the borders of Halloween pushed a bit with characters like the Gargoyle and Bigfoot. I have to hand it to LEGO for creating a Halloween series where the witch is not my favorite minifigure!

About the theme, I think LEGO itself doesn't know what's up with this series: The name is Series 14:Monsters and yet the Skeleton Guy is a costumed character, not a monster. (And i think the Tiger Girl is a costumed character too)

That Catalog says this is a Halloween series but the Gargoyle and Bigfoot are not Halloween characters...

The Gargoyle could be used as a horror decor while the Bigfoot is a mysterious monster, but not a Halloween character.

Also the Plant Monster is a costumed character along with the Skeleton Guy and Tiger Girl.

I do agree that in terms of content it's sort of a mess, but there's no good term to describe it all. Some are costumes, some aren't Halloween-themed, and some are monsters. However, I like the variety since it offers several different concepts, like trick-or-treating and a spider lady who may or may not actually be a vampire. It is a shame that there aren't any decent army builders, although the Gargoyle would be very useful in numbers.

Is the plant monster a costumed character? I assumed it was it was a man in the process of being eaten by a giant plant.

It could be both a scared trick-or-treater or a victim mid-digestion.

I think I figured out who the Spider Lady is: she's a vampire, but she was bitten by a spider (no, she doesn't have spider-sense). That's why she looks like a vampire, but has a spider theme. She probably turns into a spider and eats insects instead of human blood.

Or maybe she's just a vampire who wears a dress with a spider-motif? Sheesh, why make it more complicated than it needs to be?

I know, I was just theorizing. But it's a bit odd for her to have so much emphasis on spiders, to the point where she has a spider instead of a bat. Perhaps if she were just a scary woman who wasn't a vampire, it would make more sense. A spider motif is easier than a bat one, so I guess that's why they chose it, and I love the way she turned out, but it seems a bit strange for a bat-themed monster to be so heavily into spiders.

I would say shes simply a spider-themed monster, not a vampire. Vampires arent the only creatures with chalk-pale faces or fangs.

FYI:

For those of you who are complaining about Rocker Monster... have you ever attended the Universal Studios Beetlejuice show in Orlando? If I recall in one of the older versions the Monster plays a guitar. I could be wrong but I swear I've seen a monster play a guitar.

Spider Lady looks familiar, maybe elvira?

About the Gargoyle, I think they will use the dragon wings

No new mould needed and they are small enough for a CMF bag

I don't know if there is a neckpiece to attach them in the superheroes themes, but if it doesn't exist, the new moulds would be that neckpiece and the headpiece. 2 is the maximum number of new moulds for a CMF. (With 1 sole exception in Series 5). So it fits.

Headpiece + head + torso + legs + neckpiece + 2 wings = 7 parts, above the mean for a CMF but they have done it before (S12 Wizard has 10 parts).

Or maybe she's just a vampire who wears a dress with a spider-motif? Sheesh, why make it more complicated than it needs to be?

Because speculating with 8BrickMario is always fun! :classic:

The bio will answer what the Spider/Vampire Lady is supposed to be

It's called "imagination". Spiders are considered creatures of darkness just as much as bats and rats are.

But kelceycoe is right, the Spider Lady seems to draw inspiration from Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, as well.

That's an outdated piece. The Gargoyle will most likely use the wings of the Chima Bats.

So, apart from the portions of figures (fly head, cowl, horned headpiece) we've seen in photos, the only figures we are still unclear on are Bigfoot, the Ghost/specter, the Grim Reaper, and the Fly and Gargoyle, right? Are there any full pictures of those figures out anywhere online?

Once there online, they'll be posted here. The community here doesn't miss much :classic:

It seems that the Specter will use that awful wailing head in the first image (seen on the skeleton) which makes me think it's not female. That head has no eyelashes, (which all female minifigures have) so I don't think we'll see that hair in this series. So that means that the Bigfoot or Gargoyle might be the last female, unless this series brings the number down to 4.

As for the Gargoyle's wings, the Chima bat wings seem to be the best piece. I expect it'll use the SH neck harness in light grey, and two light grey 1x1 plates with upward clips will be provided to attach the wings.

Or the Grim Reaper's face....

Frankenstein's Monster is dressed as a rocker..... Everything is posible in this series
