AmperZand Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 With the SOLD OUT on S@H, notice that the description is tagged as 'Seasonal'. On the Series 13 and Simpsons, 'Seasonal' is not tagged. Could we be looking at a much smaller production run? Possibly, yes. The manager of the WH Smith nearest me said they had received fewer boxes than they had ordered. I suspect that TLG has done its homework and knows that this series will be hard to shift after Haloween. If so, it will have reduced supply accordingly. I doubt any shortages are designed to heighten demand. My guess is that most CMFs are bought as impulse purchases by kids and their parents, not planned purchases. Increasing demand by restricting supply doesn't work for impulse purchases. Quote
kelceycoe Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 TLC is pulling the same sales tactics they did with Scooby Doo. They released a smaller number so they sell out quickly. Now you can find a surplus of Scooby sets in every store. When they sold out the first time it took TLC a few days to give a ship date for new stuff. On the bright side the Trick or Treat set is still for sale ;) Quote
Scrib Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I hope we are proven wrong so everyone that wants them has a chance to find these figures. It really is a great series. I realize there's a certain irony in saying this when I have been busy snatching up Cheerleaders and Gargoyles. Hey, this is nothing compared to my efforts to stockpile S6 Roman Soldiers and S13 Goblins (20 of each)... Quote

Scrib Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 20 each?! That's a drop in the bucket compared to some of the members here. I know Itaria No Shintaku has bought in excess of 30-40 of some of the individual CMFs. Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Looking back, I find it interesting how complicated this series' history (in terms of info) was. *Pics are released of 11 incomplete figures, people mostly hate them. The ones shown are the Tiger Woman, Zombie Businessman, Wacky Witch, Monster Scientist, Plant Monster, Skeleton Guy, Spider Lady, Monster Rocker, Zombie Cheerleader, Zombie Pirate, and Wolf Guy. * Later, a Czech list is revealed, filling in the blanks: A Fly monster, Grim Reaper, Gargoyle, Bigfoot, and Specter are the supposed remaining five. Pics of the Gargoyle's headpiece and Fly Monster's head prove their existence, while the hood is assumed to be the Grim Reaper's. A translucent hairpiece is assumed to belong to the Specter, who would be the fifth female. Some confusion with the Czech translation (which should have been a red flag) removes and then reinstates the Monster Rocker in the group. * Later, a catalog image shows off the finished Spider Lady, Monster Rocker, and Skeleton Guy. Still, the reactions are mixed. Now we know the head on the SG in the early photos isn't his, but it seems unfitting for a female Specter or a Grim Reaper... * A blog reveals the completed Spider Lady, Plant Monster, Gargoyle. Specter, Square Foot, Zombie Cheerleader, Monster Rocker, and Skeleton Guy. A bit of confusion is had, but the cloaked figure is identified as the Specter. With the Grim Reaper being the only fig we haven't seen leaks of, curiosity abounds, especially since he would seem to edge out the fifth female, and that translucent hair wouldn't be in the series! * A new list removes the Grim Reaper, and replaces him with a Banshee, a figure who would be the perfect candidate for the mysterious hair. The GR is written off as a translation error, and a checklist photo soon proves the list correct. What I found so interesting is that nobody doubted for a second that the Grim Reaper was in this series. We all trusted the translation, and the hood piece seemed to sell everyone on it. When the hood turned out to be the Specter's, we still believed he was the 16th character, even though we now knew that we had no proof of it besides a dodgy list! Only when the second list changed the translation to Banshee did we reconsider and put the pieces together. I just hope S15 is more straightforward in terms of news... Quote

Jern92 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 found today at farmers [new zealand] they are up at the counter, so i had a shorter feel than i normally would. felt for sure the vampire queen, scientist and warewolf. also felt one of the ones with the twisty tail/legs. also found and bought squarefoot, the only one i really wanted. will try and get the wacky witch for her cat, but not too worried. wouldnt mind getting tiger girl just for her hair. The people at the counter don't usually mind me feeling for minifigures. I'd spend up to an hour sometimes, just chatting with them and teaching them the little tricks in feeling for specific parts of each figure. The ones at St Lukes are friendly. That said maybe I will check the stores on my way home to see if they are even out here yet and snap up a few of the Banshees, Spectres and Gargoyles... just to be safe :-) I'm after the exact same figures, plus a Tiger girl and Plant Guy. Hope they don't sell out just yet. Quote

Looks like they're $4.24 each which isn't quite as nice as $3.99 but beats $4.99. I can see these being quite popular once more people know about them, so I don't want to leave it too long else all the "3 in the box of 60" ones will be harder to find. Quote

I don't recall that. You only need to look back at the start of this thread, there were many people in favour of them. Quote

Hive Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I bought 21 mostly random bags today and managed to score all 8 that I really wanted - plus additional gargoyles, spectres and banshees. The only really unwanted figs I got was 3 mad scientists (why do LEGO keep spamming those?), but overall it was a very nice haul. Especially since they were at an introductionary price and I had expected that I'd have to buy many more in order to get what I wanted. Perhaps even an entire box. So a good LEGO day for me! Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) Noice. Unintentional-I mean, I totally meant to do that. Yeah. Edited September 4, 2015 by 8BrickMario Quote

That strategy works for planned purchases which I'm guessing Scooby-Doo sets mostly are, but not for impulse purchases which I suspect most CMF purchases are. AFOLs may plan their CMF buying, but I reckon that hugely more CMFs are sold to non-AFOLs making spur-of-the-moment decisions. Quote
Robert8 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 For being a company that avoids religious topics, there are a lot of crosses here Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Graveyards are generally acceptable places to find cross imagery, for some reason. Anywhere else, and it's taboo... Quote
BrickFit26 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 For being a company that avoids religious topics, there are a lot of crosses here I just noticed this too. Is it also true they can't do political figures? If that is also the case, then why did they do Abranham Lincoln in the LEGO movie minisifure series? Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I just got really lucky getting seven series 14 minifigures. I went to toysrus and target, no luck. I went to Walgreens after, and to my luck they didn't have the price in their system. She told me how much are they? I told her the normal price. She then asked for help from a different employee, then the other employee said give it to him for a $1 each! So seven minifigures for $7! I got really lucky today. Quote
lanesteele240 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Why do people hate this series so much? It's probably legitimately the best. Tons of awesome figures, insane amount of detail and printing, etc. Ikr. Im new to lmf. But all the other sets before have 1-2 figs each that are worth getting Spooky girl. Hotdog guy, video gameboy, chicken guy, medusas, Bat boy. The dj, liberty, hazmat guy, mummy, and s2 witch. This set has 6 that I like and the rest are cool enough to keep. gargoyle, Witch s14, Both spectors, Trick or treater, black widow and the plant guy all rock. The others are cool as well with only squre foot and dutchman left that i wont want. I think they did a smash up job. Quote

Amazing Bricks Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Wow! That is so lucky, Congrats. Thanks! It's a shame not all 16 were there, that would have been the best deal. Now just need to get the remaining 9. Quote
Robert8 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 I would have bought all the bags available at the store, and then sell them at $4 Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 (edited) That's a drop in the bucket compared to some of the members here. I know Itaria No Shintaku has bought in excess of 30-40 of some of the individual CMFs. Well I have 85 goblins, I will have at least 50 phantoms from series 14 because I just bought 50 heads of HP's dementor to change it. But my close friend has more than 100 goblins too. This is my phantom, will use the heads in some other way I'm gonna end with 50 of these. Edited September 5, 2015 by Itaria No Shintaku Quote
MAB Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I just noticed this too. Is it also true they can't do political figures? If that is also the case, then why did they do Abranham Lincoln in the LEGO movie minisifure series? They can do pretty much what they like, they just choose not to do modern politics, since they don't want to be seen as supporting one regime or another. Lincoln in that sense is a historical rather than political figure. Quote
