Faefrost Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I like these two new ones. I agree that they are not as near perfectly awesome as the Van or Mystery Mansion, but that's ok. They still look like good Lego sets. I'm always a sucker for Lego biplanes, even hideous hippy colored ones. I think the Lighthouse looks like the weakest of the recent three (Creator, Friends and this) but still looks like a worthwhile set. Hopefully they varied Shaggy (err Sammy?) 's head and torso prints a bit? While we are getting a lot of him he is the most expressive of the m ain cast and having a good body of head prints for MOC's could be a useful thing. I remember the swamp monster. He is color correct. It's a long shot, but I wonder if the mummy set gives us a bandage wrapped Scooby. He gets wrapped up by accident in at least one of the mummy episodes, but I don't think it was in the first series. As for the headless horseman, there are existing prints that would make a scarier figure. And the Eye of Sauron head will give you the fiery eyes. The character is correct, though, and I am happy that Lego is trying to capture the nostalgia of the older fans. Given that there is a TV show in production and a new movie in development, I think we could see several waves in the foreseeable future. A bandaged wrapped Scooby would be cool, but his body might be tough to fully print like that? I would think that the top and sides of the body are very easy for the masks to slip in and allow the print, but the underside/belly might be a dead zone for the automation to hit. Quote
strangely Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I remember the swamp monster. He is color correct. If you could enlighten us with the episode name or series name that would be helpful. I've been trying to match him to an episode but the closest design I've seen so far is the swamp monster in the New Scooby Doo Mysteries opening credits, but that swamp monster was green... So I have no idea still what this is based off of. Quote
8BrickMario Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I've looked and looked, and nowhere did I see a Black Lagoon-esque swamp monster with purple hands and stomach scales. Please provide us with the source material! Quote

BluePulse Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 There is a box of scooby snacks in the Headless Horseman set, according to the London Toy Fair reports. Awesome! as long as it isn't a sticker ( ) and is a printed piece or new mold Quote
kelceycoe Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 And the Eye of Sauron head will give you the fiery eyes. Save your money... just buy the plain trans-orange head. They're a steal at this store: http://www.bricklink.com/storeDetail.asp?b=-30772416&h=12178&itemIDseq=637 There is a box of scooby snacks in the Headless Horseman set, according to the London Toy Fair reports. You can also use single flat brown round tiles, single studded brown round tiles, or even squared versions of these for Scooby snacks. To me, the Scooby snacks from the first series looked like cookies but recently Scooby snacks have been marketed as bone-shaped graham crackers. Quote
gedren_y Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Not sure which show. I just remember the monster. Scooby snacks were more like medium dark flesh, and the most common shape was the rhombus of Scooby's tag. Sometimes they had a stamped in S. The over-sized sandwich is a Shaggy staple. A stretched mouth Shaggy would be welcome at some point. Quote
kelceycoe Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 This might be a good lead to finding the source for that swamp monster... http://scoobydoo.wikia.com/wiki/Gill-man Then the flat brown tiles would work if we had to do that. BluePulse Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I looked through a list of every scooby doo monster that has EVER been portrayed and the best i could find was the sea demon from "The New Scooby Doo Mysteries" (introduced in 1984) episode 3 titled "Scoo-Be or not Scoo-Be?" It says I can't post photos. if you want to view a picture just google- the new scooby doo mysteries sea demon - it should be the third picture in images Quote
Fightingswords Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Also up at brickfan.com http://www.thebrickfan.com/new-images-of-lego-scooby-doo-mystery-plane-adventures-and-haunted-lighthouse/ Quote

It says I can't post photos. if you want to view a picture just google- the new scooby doo mysteries sea demon - it should be the third picture in images Unfortunately that doesn't appear to be it. It's not the same color at all. I've been looking through page after page of monsters and I'm beginning to think whatever episode this monster appears in hasn't aired yet. Most of the gill-man style monsters in the series are green, in fact in the long list of monsters I saw very few that were black and purple. I didn't get much farther on the lighthouse keeper either. He does have the same coloring at the Creepy Keeper, but ultimately lacks the hat. All in all I'm pretty stumped by these two monsters. If they are in an existing episode they're super obscure. Quote
kelceycoe Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I thought the one in the lighthouse set was dark green? Quote
Cloveapple Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 The over-sized sandwich is a Shaggy staple. A stretched mouth Shaggy would be welcome at some point. That would be truly awesome. Maybe as a back-side expression on a head? Quote
Kintobor Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Nope, these are definitely new. The biplane looks pretty cute, and the lighthouse looks pretty substantial in terms of a build, although I question the need for the jail door right above the normal one. Wouldn't some other place to hold Daphne hostage make more sense? Oh, well, they look like great builds! Also really loving the parts in new colours and the figures in the Lighthouse set. Quote
kelceycoe Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Tree Monster: I'm surprised no one's divulged on his origins, so far what I have found is from: http://scoobydoo.wikia.com/wiki/Scooby-Doo_and_the_Witch%27s_Ghost Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I love this Lighthouse set, its a very nice structure infact. I always apreciate new buildings, and this one did not dissapoint me. :) Biplane is just normal, and offers nothing interesting, but Lighthouse along with Mystery mansion looks great! :) Quote
strangely Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Tree Monster: I'm surprised no one's divulged on his origins, so far what I have found is from: http://scoobydoo.wik...e_Witch's_Ghost Personally I think it's the Dryad. http://scoobydoo.wikia.com/wiki/Dryad The two branches poking out of the head seem like a dead giveaway to me. The big difference though is that the Dryad has foliage/fur over his face whereas the Lego tree does not. There are several monster trees throughout the Scooby series but the Dryad is the only one I can find that has both arms and legs and those two antler like branches coming out of it's head. Plus I'd like to think Lego did that on purpose so we can put the Joker inside the tree. Though it's also possible Lego just took inspiration from all the various tree monsters featured in Scooby Doo and combined them into a one tree monster fits all type of character. Quote
JusticeAvengingFellowship Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 A cool way to use the new sets would be to set up the biplane chase scene from What a Night for a Knight. The Black Knight from Mystery Mansion Mummy Museum Mystery to make the museum and sarcophagus with hidden passage Biplane from Mystery Plane Adventures I like the new sets, more the lighthouse then the other. The Mystery Plane Adventures Pros Cool villain with horse Funny and interesting biplane Cool for action scenes Cons Villain is not very scary Plane is unique but not very reusable and though its Scooby Doo a little too wacky looking Scooby variation is cool but could really only be used for the plane scene Haunted Lighthouse Pros Really cool and big building for 40 dollar set Features Daphne Two villains Lots of cool clues and features I think like jail, cave, and openings Coolest freakin boat I've ever seen Great value Cool location Cons Villains are not known or classics I'm hoping for more sets like Haunted Lighthouse, buildings/locations with cool features and clues and includes two villains and another gang member besides Scooby and Shaggy I could see them making a beach, circus, amusement park, castle, manor, theater, jungle, and so many more cool around 40 dollar sets Quote
8BrickMario Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Even though the Horseman is a bit too bright (hopefully it'll change to dark blue), that pumpkin mask looks great on a minifigure. Quote
kelceycoe Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Everyone knows there will at least 1 polybag, seems to be the norm. Technically MF got 4. COBI released a "Mystery figure" series for Scooby so I'm wondering if LEGO won't do the same for a series with CMF? BTW - For anyone who wants them for ideas, I will be uploading every COBI instruction booklet for all of their Scooby Doo sets. Great for adding ideas to our Scooby sets if you want to modify them and assuming they're not already incorporated into them since LEGO tends to be copycating a lot from COBI. My opinions real quick (from a 31 year old AFOL): Mansion and Machine are the best. Lighthouse was alittle disappointing and the Plane set is an absolute disaster - COBI done it better. Mummy - Given the MF line gave us a chariot for about $11.99 I'm not expecting the Mummy set to be anything great beyond an impulse set. (the Studios line gave us a Mummy's tomb for $3.99 by comparison) It is highly likely LEGO plans to release more waves given the fact they planned to make movies in the future based off this line, according to the press release found at LEGO.com. strangely Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) BTW - For anyone who wants them for ideas, I will be uploading every COBI instruction booklet for all of their Scooby Doo sets. Great for adding ideas to our Scooby sets if you want to modify them and assuming they're not already incorporated into them since LEGO tends to be copycating a lot from COBI. They're not really copycatting COBI, this is actually just how almost every Scooby toy line has gone. The WB likes to recycle things for every new toyline, I guess they know what sells. Here's a few things that might look familiar. Purple mansion with clock tower and suit of armor: Lighthouse with stairs and a skull shaped rock: And hey, a groovy colored plane: Scooby Doo merchandising is pretty much just a loop of repeating products. So Lego and COBI pretty much just recycled elements from previous toy lines. Based on older toy lines I'm guessing future waves will probably include Redbeard's ship, a castle, a train and a mine as all four of these things are re-used in the toys pretty often. Dr.Cogg Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) Here are the Unmasked names of the villains: Moat Monster / Mr.Beeman Creepy Keeper / Verona Dempsey Dracula / BIg Bob Oakley Black Knight Ghost / Mr.Wickles Mummy of Ankha / Dr.Najib Headless Horsemen / Elwood Crane Zombie / Zeke The Phantom / Bluestone the Great P.S. I don't think the Tree is a Villain, I think its just a regular tree put in the set to scare Scooby and Shaggy. Edited February 3, 2015 by Dr.Cogg Quote
kelceycoe Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Is there a reason why this hasn't been pinned? LEGO.com has the actual press release in their News Room link on their frontpage. It is an official theme now. Quote
strangely Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Here are the Unmasked names of the villains: Moat Monster / Mr.Beeman The swamp monster in the set is black and purple. So I think it's safe to say the Moat Monster is not the one featured in the set. P.S. I don't think the Tree is a Villain, I think its just a regular tree put in the set to scare Scooby and Shaggy. The tree is a monster. The newspaper in Fred's hand indicates that the tree has come to life. The construction of it might make it possible to fit a minifigure inside, though it appears there is not one included to do that. The tree looks to be an amalgamation of tree monsters from the shows (The antler like branches from the Dryad, a similar face as the tree in one of the DTV's) rather than any one specific version.
