8BrickMario Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Has anyone pointed out te Johnny Thunder reference in the mummy set? I think it's been discussed as early as Toy Fair. It's still a great little detail, though. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Okay, wasn't sure. I kind figured a you smart lads and lasses caught the adventurer, but I was just checking ;) Quote
Sir Walter Maugham Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Has anyone pointed out the Johnny Thunder reference in the mummy set? I haven't been paying close attention to these sets, so it's new to me. It's a great little cameo. Quote
strangely Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 So the official Lego descriptions for the sets describe the Zombie as being Zeke. Too bad they didn't bother to color him correctly (Shirt and coat colors should be swapped) nor give him a second head to portray Zeke. Quote
Robert8 Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I still don't get what the S12 Prospector is doing there... But cool cameo anyway Quote
strangely Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I still don't get what the S12 Prospector is doing there... But cool cameo anyway The treasure in this set is gold, so logically the deceased owner of the mansion is a prospector. Though this prospector doesn't really match the CMF one. It's definitely similar but the printing differs noticeably. The painting itself also serves as a clue type element to the set. The house references a few different episodes for it's design, combining the Kingston mansion (The exterior layout is very similar with it's tall roof and two wings that sit at angles) and the Stillwall mansion. The Stillwall mansion featured a greenhouse with "Scooby eating plant" and a painting of the owner pointing to where the treasure could be found (Though within the episode the painting had been moved years prior, so it wasn't pointing to the correct spot anymore). The painting seems to be a reference to the Stillwall painting as the Prospector is holding the gold in the direction of the room you can actually find the gold in. Quote
Legocity2713 Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I'm really digging these Mystery Machine style vehicles as they allow you to have something similar to the main recognizable vehicle but a smaller scale. It didn't really strike me as impressive until now, but they really are cool. Also, the new pumpkin pieces are really cool for any Halloween display and can't wait to purchase a few. Hopefully they will be available on Bricks and Pieces soon. Quote
Mutant Orc Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 This is an artifex review of the Mystery Mansion. Apologies if it's already been posted here I don't follow this thread thoroughly. Quote
strangely Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Love the printing on the torso of the Black Knight. Really I'd actually like a polybag of a normal Mr. Wickles (Plus it would be a good opportunity to finally get a recolor of the Grandpa hairpiece). Quote

My God, an all black head with yellow eyes has so many uses! I'm freaking out man!!! Quote

Yes, and if they'd molded a new helmet with the correct style of grille the minifigure would be perfect. Even still it's a pretty awesome minifigure. The eyes on the head are pretty awesome though. Seriously though, that set really looks great and seems to offer tons of versatile parts and excellent minifigs, just like the rest of the theme Too bad I don't have any shelf space left though, JW ate up all that was left for new themes Quote
BigPoppaBrick Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Picked up the Mystery Machine set today from Argos. Looks like they are selling early! Nice little set! A little let down by the number of stickers that take some fiddling. Figures are great through and the set has lots of playability for kids. The tree is a nice little model as well and cleverly done. benderisgreat Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Going to get Mystery Machine on August 1 when its released. Probably going to buy Mummy Museum Mystery set too. MM set seems to be the only must buy set of this wave. Quote
Savage Oppress Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 for all of the Shaggy/Scobby hunters, I suggest to wait until Lego Dimensions, the video game, comes out on September 27, 2015. Their special pack will probably be released on that day for the game and it will be cheaper getting the pack for them, since they will probably be exclusive to the $100 or $200 Set in the theme line. 8BrickMario Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Shaggy and Scooby are in every single set. Getting the smallest one would be cheaper than getting a Dimensions pack. Now, if Velma came in a game pack... Quote
ReZourceman Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I picked up the Lighthouse set today from Argos on an impulse (because I thought it was going to be more expensive) was only £39.99 which is pretty reasonable. It's a really nice set. Here's my review; Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I'm going to go scouting for these sets on Wednesday. I can't decide if I want to start with the Museum or the Plane. Quote
fred67 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 So the only set Velma is in is the mansion? I won't buy anything unless I can get the complete crew, and I'm certainly not buying the mansion just for Velma. Quote

I won't buy anything unless I can get the complete crew, and I'm certainly not buying the mansion just for Velma. You don't have to buy it just for Velma. It could also be for Daphne. Then all you would need is the Mystery Machine to complete the gang and you'd have 4 awesome, classic monsters too, not to mention two great builds. Quote
fred67 Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 No... not going to happen. I was hoping to get a mystery machine for both a co-worker and myself, but wanted to flesh it out with Daphne and Velma figures (she's been Velma for Halloween before). Not going to buy two mansions. Hoping a second series has her in a smaller set - maybe even a polybag, but I somehow doubt it. Quote
