Looking back through the Club magazine for Nov/Dec. 2015, there was a Baman/ Scooby-Doo comic, which reminds me of the movie "Scooby-Doo meets the Batman!" Anyone? Well, it again reminded me of the decades of material they have to use. Some things are more iconic than others, but Lego has been upping the nostalgia factor in some of their recent products.

If anyone is interested in building the mystery mansion from the animated lego scooby doo short I have attached some screen shots for reference. I have many more in a photo bucket album if anyone wants more + some internal shots.

UPDATES:

* The January 2016 catalog does not have ANY Scooby Doo product listed for sale (US version).

* Although there is no indication that "Knight Time Terror" special will be coming to DVD, one is left to wonder if this upcoming preschool book uses most of the monsters from the theme to help lure preschool kids to buy this book (well their parents anyway) - http://www.amazon.com/LeapFrog-LeapReader-Book-Scooby-Doo-Knights/dp/B001H0U86S/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1451105602&sr=8-2-fkmr0&keywords=lego+%22knight+time+terror%22+scooby+doo

* The S@H site actively lists ALL products, including the 3-set Collection containing only the SDWAY sets from the theme.

* The LEGO CLUB January-February 2016 magazines do NOT promote this theme whatsoever and both red and green brick editions focus on Nexo Knights and Star Wars, understandably.

Indicating this theme, at least, was a Halloween theme. Obviously we don't know if it will be officially discontinued or added to the closer to Halloween again (although I'm shocked we haven't had any clues since this theme was immaturely hinted at November 2014 and was released August 2015) or whether an entirely new theme (if any) will replace it. As I state constantly in the Scooby Doo forum and on my site, TLC doesn't really respect Halloween all too much.

It's not a question of respect. Halloween is a far less universal holiday than Christmas, and it's not even religious! Lego is an international company, and has to cater to a wide variety of different cultures. There are large parts of Europe and Asia that don't even celebrate Halloween, and even the parts that do often celebrate it very differently than the mostly American traditions of dressing up in costume and "trick-or-treating".

To be honest, I'm surprised you'd say that Lego "doesn't really respect Halloween" when there's pretty much been more Halloween-related content this year than ever, with Scooby Doo, the "Monsters" minifigures series, and arguably even the spooky ghost-based Ninjago summer wave and skeleton-based Bionicle summer wave. I think it's been a pretty good year for Halloween in Lego, all things considered.

Having gotten everything but the Plane for Christmas and having them built, I must say I'm quite pleased. Both the Lighthouse and Mansion feel properly large, and there are some really nice play features. All of the minifigures are great, especially Daphne and Velma. In fact, my least favorite is probably the Mystery Machine, just because it feels too small, and there's less to do with the set. It's a shame that there aren't any plans to continue the theme, but I'm happy with what we got.

I don't know if it had been mentioned here, but the Daily Babbler newspaper printed tile from the Mystery Machine set will also appear in the Modular Brick Bank set. It is shown decorating the wall of the laundromat.

They must have made a lot of excess printed tiles with that headline. Maybe they chose the laundromat portion of the Brick Bank to represent it as a tabloid headline since those type of magazines sometimes find their way into a place like that. No normal magazine or newspaper would have a headline about a tree coming to life.

Yes, I actually have that special on DVD. Anyway, I really wish LEGO would follow Scooby up with more Hanna-Barbera properties. I don't know what the details of the license is per say, but I'd love it if in the same way LEGO Batman lead later to general LEGO DC Comics, I really hope LEGO Scooby leads to LEGO Yogi Bear, Jetsons, Flintstones, Johnny Quest, etc. I've been avoiding the Scooby sets so far as I'm not the biggest fan of the show, however if some of these other properties were made, I might buy at least the Mystery Machine set to put next to my other theoretical H-B LEGO's.

I almost feel like the Yogi Bear ship sailed already, as much as I'd like to see it happen. But yeah, see set purchases as an expression to TLG that you'd like to see more.

I think Scooby was the best set-making property. Sitcoms like the Flintstones and Jetsons would be reaching for set material (although they've been teased for Dimensions) and Yogi...I don;t know enough about the cartoon, but could it really work?

It seems that this theme will get the axe. :cry_sad:

Too bad, I just bought the Mansion and the Mystery Machine since I'm a big Scooby-Doo fan and I really don't want to miss this theme.

It seems the dimensions pack beginning with S will be Scooby themed (it's confirmed by Just2Good not to be Simpsons), I'm betting on Daphne or if we're lucky scrappy

Hopefully that turns out to be true. If that's the case I hope they'll give us new characters. Charlie the Funland robot is already in the game, so a physical minifigure would be great. I wouldn't mind Scrappy, but I'd prefer monsters.

No Scrappy is the most and maybe only dissapointment to me in this series :sceptic:. But yeah, this year have been a great one for LEGO Halloween/Monster fans and we won't see more in the next year unless there's a major film tie in the future.

Not so sure about other Hannah-Barbara cartoone franchises. Not saying that I don't like the others, but Scooby-Doo should be the best choice for a LEGO franchises.

you can get at least eleven sets out of Wacky Races.

The Flintstones has tons of possiblilties.

I'd personally like to see the Blue Falcon and Dynomutt, or Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels.

Yeah, Wacky Races would be gold, but it's not current and I have a feeling they wouldn't want it running concurrently with Speed Champions.

There's a new theatrical film coming out in 2018 (and it's going to have Flim Flam!) and there's three direct to video movies released each year

Posted (edited)

Well, Scooby-Doo's cartoon franchise has been active, but I think the 2015 lineup try to catch the major content of Scooby-Doo rather than giving details from the current TV shows or direct-to-videos from this year. So the chance of doing this franchise for another year doesn't seem to be very big.

Otherwise, at most, we have to wait until 2018 to see if some movie sets are possible, since most of the LEGO licensed sets are based on movie franchises.

Okay, I just built the Mystery Machine. Very nice, very detailed and with a great parts selection. The stickers where remarkably easy to apply, although that might just be me. I did notice that there was a spare pneumatic tube. Is there any particular reason for this? Do they break more often than other parts? It seems strange to include a spare for such a large part.

If the theme is discontinued its the sixth theme this year to be discontinued (China, Agents, Pirates, Simpsons and Jurassic World are all confirmed), despite only having two new themes this year Nexo Knights and Ghost Busters. :S

I guess we'll have to wait 10(ish) days until London Toy Fair to have our last hopes destroyed or fulfilled.

Other new theme, liscensed, is Angry Birds. It would be very disappointing if we were to see this theme go. There's just so much potential, theyve only scratched the tip of the iceberg with the inclusion of the main five characters. No Creepy Creeper? Now that's criminal!

If they don't plan to release more sets until later on in the year, would they still show up at London Toy Fair? Or would only that cover summer sets?
