Hello lads

Been working on this for a week now, clean sheet redesign Swing arm Crane Truck built using only 42009 pieces.....although I think I might have to order a few more panels liftarms and pins to finish this model :hmpf_bad:

The biggest highlights of this moc ( to me) are stabilizers that retract into the body, ackerman steering geometry and simultaneously operable functions. The swing arm was by far the hardest structure to build because I haven't owned a single Technic crane truck in the past ( except for the 42009) and I didn't want to look at any instructions. I'm pretty proud of it but then again I'm still a newbie

Thanks for reading! Please go easy on me because this is my 2nd MOC but constructive criticism is always welcome!

Cheers.

WOW, looks great!! I love the stabilizers, great idea, did not even know they were there until i saw the picture!! The truck itself looks great, but than anything i have ever done. The only thing i'd add to the crane is a hook of some kind, but other than that, WOW

I like it. The crane is very similar to that of set 8258 Lego crane truck. Nice construction, and I love the fact the outriggers are hidden in the bodywork.

Good work!

Thank you so much! The crane needs quite a bit of work still. I'm still trying to figure out how I can make the telescopic part small enough so it can fully retract without a problem.

Thanks! And yeah, I looked at a bunch of 8258 pictures and took inspiration from it. They did a great job on the crane, its pretty realistic but mine isn't quite there yet.

Looks great - wonderful effort as a C model; very clean lines, love the dual rears.

Off to a great start, looks very good so far! Eagerly awaiting more pics! :classic:

Awesome start. I like the front lights

Great looking MOC, I love crane trucks and this one is not an exception ! Congrats

Thanks for the love everyone! I changed quite a few things, I will post new pictures tomorrow.

Your off to a great start however the bumper and the area around the windscreen needs more work.

Thanks for the advice! the cab was in need of some dire refining.

Also just placed two bricklink orders for some extra parts. I'm going to redo the crane in red and yellow, I think it'll look much better.

Very well done for a second moc!

Seems like the 42009 is the perfect set for C models and I think this one's my favorite

Thanks a lot guys!

I've got a question, been focusing on engine detail today and I made two dummy radiators but I'm not sure where I should mount them. Option A is behind the wheel well as shown by the radiator on the left and option B is right in front of the engine as shown by the one of the right. Which one do you think looks best?

excellent! done a cracking job there pal. excellent C model, I've seen a few C models but this is one that I'd want to build! big fan of heavy trucks. :)

about the rads... would it be possible to mount behind the front grille so you can see it through the teeth?

Thank you very much! Means a lot. I'm not so sure about that but I took apart the front steering setup anyway to strengthen it so I'll give it a try. Good idea.

Looks great

Thank you :classic:

Update! Added door locks, a dummy air tank, dummy toolbox, a lever behind the passenger side door to operate the battery box, changed the entire front structure and refined the bodywork of the cab.

I am looking forward to the finished product. Didn't get a chance to own the 8258 so hopefully I am able to get my hands on another 42009 to build this beast if the instructions become available.

Ahh, unfortunately, I scrapped that build. It wasn't realistic enough and the chassis was feeble. I think I can safely say that what I'm working on right now is much much better.

Here's a teaser

Wow that front end is insane. It looks amazing

that is indeed one of the best technic fronts ever made

Wow thank you guys! really appreciate it.

Both of these models look really good, would have loved to see the first one finished though...

Thanks man, and yeah it's a shame but it got to really messy and cramped, plus I was running out of pieces and it wasn't even closed to being finished so i had to scrap it.
