Hi!

I don't have a printer (I am a student and have access to b&w printers at school for most needs) and was wondering if anyone has tried to have decals printed on sticker paper at a local print shop. I asked my local shop and they said they can print on sticker paper or a transparent medium (forgot to ask if the sticker paper was transparent), and they said that they could print full color from files delivered via email or physical media for about $3 or $4 dollars a page (which seems very reasonable given the cost and storage space needed for a printer, paper, and ink).

My questions are what needs to be explicitly stated for best results, what should I ask to clarify, what needs to be avoid, what needs to be done...

Thanks

Edit: Just realized that the end of the title got cut off. If anyone is wondering it should end in Copy Shop/Center

When I made a Borderlands 2 Siren Mod prop, I simply went to the local copy place and had it printed out on sticky label paper. Then I stuck it onto the book like a book cover. Here's a pic:

It was straightforward, I simply made the necessary adjustments to the images in Photoshop so they would fit the book. Just make sure to resize it to actual size at like 300DPI. It cost me about $2 a page, really cheap for such a great result.

I imagine printing minifigure torsos would be even easier, just send the print shop the image file, with as many designs as you can fit on a page at actual size. Be sure to use semigloss or gloss label paper, something with a smooth surface so it looks okay on the figures.

Thanks for the info, sound like what I didn't think to ask was the finish of the paper. I'll have to remember glossy. Also I just spaced out torso and it looks like I can fit 85 double sided torso on a single sheet of paper!

I have had torso stickers done at my local print shop a couple of times, and they have always turned out pretty nice. One thing to keep in mind is the background color of the sticker if you use white in your design. Unless they can print with white ink it will of course come out transparent on a transparent sticker. I just grouped the ones that had white in them on one sheet and had that one printed on white sticker.

But most printshop have really good quality these days, just remember to save the file in the right resolution and size as stated in the other response above:)

Hmm... a lot of what I already have to print has a lot of white in it, with foofy cravats/jabots or just the shirts. I think if the extend the color of the torso around the image that should make it easier to cut out and have no white around the edged, that makes sense, right?
