PKW Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 Number thee seems like the best choice, please save this project cause it's awesome! Sure it is What I want! For that solution I'll use a rechargeable 9v that is a 7 cells (that means 8,4V) it should be ok but totally the "9V" with the motor could weight as an additional battery box but sure the L motor makes the trucks able to reach 8-9 kph :3 Quote
LeocornoProductions Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 (edited) That has to be the fastest technic truck ever, and possibly the fastest gearbox. Arrgghh you beat me to it. I'll do some top speed runs with my huracan to see if I can match it. Edited January 24, 2015 by LeocornoProductions Quote

And i have only The rechargeable 7,4V battery box, try your huracan with alkaline AAA and rechargeable one you'll see how much is The difference :( Quote
LeocornoProductions Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I have the big battery box, I plan on getting the rechargeable battery box in the future. But anyways that truck is going to be a mean offroad vehicle, it reminds me of one of those Dakar vehicles that can reach its top speed on any terrain. 9kmh offroad will be exciting to see! Have you made a video already? Quote

Omikron Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Can't wait to see the speed of this truck! Quote
PKW Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Can't wait to see the speed of this truck! those are The different theorical speeds calculated with sariel's gear calculator (all with The second gear): 5,5 km/h 7,2V low output 7,7 km/h 9V // 7,5 (more or less)7.2V high output 10,4 km/h 9V high output yes, different batteries have an high impact to The speed (The ratio between high And Low output of The RC motor is similar To The ratio between RPMs of The same output at different voltage) i'm testing It with The lowest speed And it is really funny To drive, And also The second gear has enough torque To reach The full speed, it Can cross Small obstacles (2cm) an its suspension travel is about 3cm this afternoon maybe i'll complete The boost function And I hope that it let me use The high output, But I want To use The lowest one To have more torque, I hope I can buy an AAA battery box To have a 9V voltage, it could become a better truck PS: teaser video? not sure But I want To drive it :3 Quote
PKW Posted January 29, 2015 Author Posted January 29, 2015 Hi to all! Boost function is finished! It use an old 9v motor To move a switch that activate the L motor (powered by an old 9V small battery pack) that solution make me able To not overload the thermal protection of the battery box and also use a small and light additional battery box, now the problem is that i can't replicate the rear cover exactly like the one of motorstorm truck, but the L motor Could be considered ad an additional NOS tank and it will be the only part that be out of that cover, infrared receivers will be positioned into the cockpit and they won't look good, but i can hide the Sbrick (for now a placeholder) near the 9v battery box without modify the look of the truck, so there are the photos: Quote

PKW Posted January 29, 2015 Author Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) 1422549741[/url]' post='2123886']That's great progress, I knew you would find a solution. It looks like a gas tank into the cover, but it isn't ugly for me, now the truck weights 1,4kg but its 5,5 km/h make it fast seeing it while running, also the boost effect is visibile when you shift in 2º gear, because the normal acceleration is so slow, but with turbo is faster than the first gear! Also SBRICK placeholder fits perfectly into the cockpit Edited January 29, 2015 by PKW Quote
LeocornoProductions Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 That's amazing progress, 1,4kg?!?!?!? THAT'S SUPER BY LIGHT! How did you get it to be so light, and it's still quite a big scale. My car isn't even finished, yet it's over 600 grams heavier. Speedwise, this will be an exciting truck to see at full throttle, tearing up dirt ;) also its very compact, and you managed to fit the sbrick in smoothly. I love the turbo idea, similar to asphalt 8 and previous need for speed games. Also it could have a launch control feature: Using the turbo motor for launch and then switching to the regular power output, and then in-between gear changes you could use the turbo feature, to keep the thrust going, if you like this idea feel free to use it. I'm sure you had fun building this truck and playing with it. Good luck in the contest! Quote

The Weight isn't low, if You consider That It is 15 stud wide and 54 long You Have To mind that The chassis is a lot shorter ;) (And for me this scale isn't really big It is more or Less 1/16) i though it will be lighter unfortunatelly turbo isn't enough powerfull To make The truck move, it is also pretty uneuseful at frist gear, sure it add torque but not speed, The RC motor is powerfull Enough To reach The maximal Speed ( but climbing something turbo will be really useful) at second gear The truck struggle To reach The maximal Speed, and is has low power, But With the turbo it gain The speed almost insantly :3 that system is not took by asphalt but by motorstorm, for this i've choosen this truck, but The initial idea To make a Self breaking system like motorstorm isn't possible due To A lack in space :( Quote
PKW Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 Hi To all! If someone still following the progress of this building (I hope more than someone :') ) I notice you that it is ammost finished! Almost because I use To modify my MOC slowly when they are finished, To improve details and mechanisms, so here are the photos: to compare the dimension there is also my lightly dismounted 9398 and my semi-dismounted crawler (that probably will join the model Expo italy 2015 near "real" rc scaler :3 you can find other pictures of it in my bricksehf :3) Quote
Omikron Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) The red protection ram is disconnected on one of the sides, somewhere at the bottom, which gives a little twisted view to the whole thing. You can see it in the last picture. Have you tried other wheels/tires? Like the ones from an orange buggy? Edited January 31, 2015 by Omikron Quote
LeocornoProductions Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Yh the tires make the truck loose its presence, perhaps unimog tires with the volvo's yellow rims, or your crawlers tires. But it is a pretty good scale though. Quote

You can see it in the last picture. Have you tried other wheels/tires? Like the ones from an orange buggy? yes, you're right, there is a wire that move the 5M liftarms that holds the cage away From the cabin, I have To fix it ;) those wheels are the best that i've found, because the one that you say are too small, other tyres than those are too big and its suspension travel has To be more or less 0mm To fit them :') Yh the tires make the truck loose its presence, perhaps unimog tires with the volvo's yellow rims, or your crawlers tires. But it is a pretty good scale though. the same thing Ahahah if you look at the dimension of the wheel that you're saying you'll find that all are big more than those are small, and they don't fit in the truck, i just need 3-4mm more in diameter To make them in the same proportion of the "real" molotov baikal, also the grey rim isn't really good ad an ipotethical red one will be the best but I have only those. if you want i can make a photo with wheels From my rc rally car (1/10) they are perfect and fit really well, but they are non-lego parts :( Quote
Omikron Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Looks good, very good, just like the thing in the game. Almost. Quote

LeocornoProductions Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Umm, you could use red supercar rims with the grand prix racers tyres, or the 42029's wheels. Quote
PKW Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 Umm, you could use red supercar rims with the grand prix racers tyres, or the 42029's wheels. I've tried ALL the wheels I have that could fit, and the only that does are the power miners plastic wheels but they are smaller than the 42009 one that I'm using, other wheels that are less tall than 68,8 and have a +2M offset From the wheel (i don't know if i've explained wheel but i want To say that From the edge of the wheel and the start of the rim the buffer distance has to be 2M, like you put an axle and you reach the wheel line adding 2 1M stop) are the red supercar wheels but they are too large and also a street version, so the one that i'm using are the best that I can found :( but the truck doesn't look bad :3 Quote
