rally impressed Bu That plane, congratultion,An Also To Pluto_mkII that said It will be more or less that aircraft ahahah

ore thing, when You move The canard And The turbine nozzle You have To consider that They have To move in opposite direction so The turbine up when nose up and down when You want To nose down ;) in the Way you've moved them canard balances it and make The aircraft or "fly" levelled or in a cobra position, not really realistic

hope i've explained well :')

It depends on the situation as far as I know. In 4th and above generations nozzles and surfaces are controlled by computers. They can move in opposite/same, half opposite directions or any combinations of those to achieve unbelievable performance. It could be done by 1 transistor the size of few microns. Lego parts have some limitations in this field. The effect could be achieved by the combination of servos/differentials, springs. But they are just too big. I saw Yf 22 lifting off and landing with this configuration.

very interesting topic... starting with comics and finished with incredible happy MOCend ...

I think DARPA should start using LEGO for their future flying projects ;)

I don´t like too much planes but I see an awesome MOC.

+1

Amazing shape! But just a tiny little bit disappointed that it's not one of these nice and quirky old Saab cars ;-)

Awesome build! The air brakes are way too slow and the landing get is a bit jerky, but you nailed the shape and functions fantastically.

Any chance of seeing the underneath?

Posted

Thank you! The air brakes have their own gearing up mechanism with 6:1 ratio. If I would've connected them directly... well then video would've been around 9 minutes  . The front landing gear is jerky because there was an old turntable that squeaked from time to time. (Some say the evil HÄMSTER spirit is trapped in there)

Wow, you really delivered. Awesome.

Unfortunately, your video cannot be viewed in Germany, because of the music.

Awwww bummer :look: this copyright just can't handle LEGO!

I have a backup plan! I will upload more videos without the music.

Or use royalty free music ;)

I find it a bit tricky subject. While I'm surfing through youtube's legal agreements there seems to be a diplomatic-financial problem between German companies and youtube's royalty taxes. German law requires more money to be paid, so youtube doesn't want to sign an agreement with the distribution right's owners in Germany, and this gives them rights to sue youtube if music won't be blocked.

omikron,i were talking about The position of The nozzle and The canard together, planes in The video don't have canard wings ;) if You Can control canard and nozzles separately it is ok but if They work simultaneously they can't be realistic in that way, canard has To move in The opposite direction of surface/nozzle that control The nose up/down putted Back To The wing because they are in the front, right now your plane "can" tilt and turn but nor nose up/down nor take off ;) read The edited post before this maybe it is more clean (i found hard To explain this concept in english, in italian is really simple because i know specific terms, but i Have To write in English :( english grammar is not accured as the italian one (and also i'm not really good with english) so is Very difficult for me To be Clean :( hope You understand)

True, that's the GEMA for you. But there is "royalty free" music, where the GEMA-megablocks doesn't apply. I believe there was a thread about this topic not too long ago.

I am astounded by the concept of building something so big and complex.

How long did this all take, first idea to last brick?

How many parts?

Did you plan it all in LLD or make it up as you went along (like I do)?

Are there any sections you will optimize/revise after TC6?

Will you take it all apart in a few weeks and build something else?

Exceeds Expectations :)

I haven't watched the video yet but just the first photos made me drop my jaw and let a happy WTF! come out in public :D

Ahhh, I see what you mean now! Thank you, there was 1 extra 8 tooth gear messing up the direction of the rotation. Fixed it.

I had a feeling that this was going to be worth the wait...!

Thank you for your comment, it means a lot

Thank you!

If I may make a humble suggestion, it might be a nice idea to invert one of the printed tiles in the cockpit - three dials all reading 82???

Noted! I may try other indicators as well.

More photos and video to come! Made some inner adjustments.

1. The whole building time (including planning/concepts, research, ordering necessary parts) took less than a month. The shipping time took forever though. I waited for a week since bricklink order shipped, then I started to draw comics.

Somehow it was a very comfort to build. Like I knew exactly what I need to do at each step. I even had a dream that helped me to solve some axle routing.

When I posted first comic - MOC was already 90% complete. I didn't have some parts so the MOC looked like clown with blue/red/orange/yellow substitutes  .

2. I don't think I have enough fingers to count. I face 2 same problems every time I try to build and count. Either I count wrong and need to do it several times or I count right and have to check it  . The second problem - I always run out of some type of part. Like I need 9 more 4L axles but I only have 2.

3. I tried LDD once, it didn't work out. I'm generally good with computer GUI's but not in LDD. I will try once again just to show all the inner mechanics involved. I always liked those Blackbird and others renders.

4. Yes I already fixed couple of things today. Right now it looks good, but I know that there are few things that could be done better.

5. It is always hard to dismantle a MOC for me. I do not know yet.
