BroZ Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Hello Eurobrick Community ! First, I want to apologize if my grammar is not correct (I'm just a poor french ;) ) I've hesitated for a long time before posting this thread, but it's obvious, better ask specialists ! I don't know if you've seen it yet, but I really loved the new Batmobile from Rockteady's forthcoming game : Batman Arkham Knight. The E3 trailer literally knocked me out, especially when you see the Batmobile passing from pursuit to battle mode. (you can watch the trailer )You can also watch it from all the angles here. (I always watch for references to build it). I think it would be awesome to build it with Lego, with the possibility to make it change from pursuit to battle mode. It would be an ambitious and interesting project for my first MOC. I've never really made Lego before, so I started by doing the 76023 set for the Tumbler, which is outstanding, to practice and understand the building logic. I've watched all over the net, to see if there was already existing MOCs, and i found these projects on the Lego Ideas website : - Project 1 : The model is really interesting, but I'd like to build this new Batmobile with the same scale as the 76023 Tumbler set (if I make one, better be cool !). The big problem of this version, the front wheels don't turn in a Y axis, so the car cannot move forward because the wheels are awry. - Project 2 : Visually more closer from the original, but the scale is not bigger, and there's the same problem for the wheels. To start working, I dowloaded LDD, which is great to find pieces et mechanics before building it really. But from the very beginning, I'm already stucked... I'd like the wheels to turn as in these instances : Each wheel is a couple of two motorcycle type wheels. I've chosen the couple 6021952: Motorcycle Tyre Ø 100,6 + 4568006: Motorcycle Rim Ø 75, but I don't find the pieces to make the central axis, which can make the wheel turn independently on their central axis, and also to have a central rotation on the Y axis to make the Batmobile roll laterally. Do you know which pieces I can use or how I can make this possible ? For the sequel, I already know how I can make the central weapon to get out, the deploy of front and back arms holding the wheels, and the ailerons' unfolding. I'd like to post to as the project's advancement, so you can give me your opinion : ) Pour la suite, je vois déjà comment je peux faire pour la sortie de l'arme centrale, le déploiement des "bras" avants et arrières, ainsi que le dépliements des ailerons arrières. J'aimerais bien poster au fur et à mesure de l'avancement du projet pour que vous me donniez aussi votre avis : ) Thank you in advance for your help, and I hope that this project will interest you, or even make you want to build your own version ! Here is the starting point, with rotation systems attempts: Beta test for the wheel idea : I try from there to build the piece between the two wheels, but this is not very concluding : Here's my files : batmobile02.lxf roues001.lxf Thank you for your help. robuko Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Welcome to Eurobricks BroZ. This will be a spectacular and massive project! You might want to try the 2x2 plate with the axle pin underneath, that would let you build the fenders studs-up. Or just use short technic 2 or 3 stud liftarms joined with a friction pin. Good luck with the build! Quote
BroZ Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 Thank you for tour support ! I think it's a great project too :). By the way, can you give me the references of pièces please ? So I can try the build in LDD. Do you have an idea which piece(s) I can use for the round part of the center axis ? I tried different approaches but I'm not satisfied. Quote
Kizmoz Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 (edited) I'm currently unable to load a picture myself but if you look around there appears to be a verison of it in the LEGO Batman 3 game. Its parked inside the trophy room under the T-rex. Not sure if its a complete model or just pure image for the game, but could give you ideas on a complete design 2.50 in the video Edited January 20, 2015 by Kizmoz Quote
BroZ Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 Yeah ! I saw it when I did my research on the net. The scale seems pretty small. I don't own the game so I cannot check closely. But I wonder how they built the wheels... You cannot drive it in the game though. Quote
BroZ Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Found it guys ! From the SW General Grievous' Wheel Bike' set. Quote
Saberwing40k Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 If you would like help with this, particularly the technical elements, I can help you. But first, I need to know some things. Do you want the model to be remote control, or not? Other than that, I know the scale, and stuff, so I can build a basic frame and stuff for you, and then you can do the bodywork. Quote
BroZ Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 Thank you Saberwing40k ! I don't want it to be remote control. I want it to be "transformable" as the original model, and as the same scale as the Tumbler. I'd like that the main weapon pop out from the center of the car, maybe with some gears to make it more impressive (for instance, when you deploy the backward wheels, the center weapon pop out). Would you like me to make some sketches ? Quote

Would you like me to make some sketches ? Yes, that would help. Okay, so you want it to be a UCS style model, with some functionality, Right? Also, are you okay with manually posing the wheels, as doing that instead of having a steering mechanism would makes things a lot easier. Quote
BroZ Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) I'm ok with manually posing ;) All right I'll make some sketches ! Edit : here's some CGs to get a better view : Edited January 27, 2015 by BroZ Quote
BroZ Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) I apologize for my bad drawings, I hope you'll understand what I tried to describe. Here's an example of a wheel. (front left wheel) 1. One of the rotation axis is hidden in central piece 2. the second axis is in the inner part of the wheel, which looks a small motor 3. The Y axis is hidden in the front fender Here's a the telescopic deploy of the main weapon on 1, 2 and 3. On 4 and 5, it's the round deply of the secondary weapons. You can see here some example of the deploy of the wheels, the car is getting longer. On 3, you see how the main weapon deploys. On dotted lines, you can see the different axis, and on the right front wheel, here is the small motor in the inner side. Tell me if you need more sketches or explanations. I think it would be fun to make all those parts deploying manually, to make this batmobile fun to play with. By the way, did you see the video ? Edited January 27, 2015 by BroZ Quote
BroZ Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 @Saberwing40k, do you need more information ? Is there a way to stay in touch ? Thanks for your help : ) Quote
BroZ Posted March 8, 2015 Author Posted March 8, 2015 Ok, so I haven't progressed that much since the last time, here's some pics : I've got the central piece but I don't know how to make the wheels turn independantly from each other. Here's the piece : Anyone interested in this project ? Quote
BroZ Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 Starting from zero, still working on it, here's a new start for the wheel, without tires : Quote
Master_Data Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Looks like you're off to a good start. This is going to be bigger than the Tumbler! Quote
ItsTheJester Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Hello! I saw you needed help, sorry I took a while haha.. So how's the project going? Quote
BroZ Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 Hi ItsTheJester ! Thanks for coming ! I started from zero as you can see in the last post. I'm stuck building the engines inside the wheels so they can remain straight; I can send you the LDD file if you want to take a look. Quote
ItsTheJester Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Hello again! I'm terribly sorry for taking such a long time, there was some problem with my EuroBricks password and stuff! Hmm, I see youre going for a really large scale here, sure send the LDD file, I'll take a look and I'll see what I can do! Great work so far, kudos! Quote

BroZ Posted August 16, 2015 Author Posted August 16, 2015 Or we can work together ! Nice start : ) Quote
Hydra Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Sure we can try to work together My problem is often that i work some days on the project an than i have no more ideas oder no time and it cound take weeks till i work on it again :-(. Another point is the scale. Maybe my scale is an other than yours. And i try to put a shock absorber in the car.^^ But i can send you some fils from the project if you want. Quote
BroZ Posted August 18, 2015 Author Posted August 18, 2015 I'd love to, so I can think of it and we can try some ideas : ) Quote
