Graham Gidman Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 (edited) My entry to Round 2 of the 2014-15 Middle Earth LEGO Olympics over on MOCpages. I was tasked to build a scene with Fili as the focus. His best scene is at the end of An Unexpected Journey when Bilbo is about to get killed while protecting Thorin, and he (along with Kili and Dwalin) rush in to save them both. You'll find more pictures and a lengthier description here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/404861 Edited February 4, 2016 by Graham Gidman Quote
deraven Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I think that's great. The base works really well both as a diorama and representing the cliff face, and the almost-fallen-over tree feels perfect. My constructive criticism would be that the fire doesn't feel quite right to me. Maybe if there were a few straight-up flames (part 6126 - http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/search.cgi?q=6126 ) it would feel more like they're statically burning pieces whereas the bendy ones feel like they should be indicating more general motion to me. Really nice build! Quote
BrickBuilder7622 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Nice work Graham! I really love the angle of that tree there. Looks awesome! The rock work is stellar, too. Quote
Balbo Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Incredible work! I love the rockwork, and the techniques for the tree. Good luck for the contest Quote
Spader Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Impressive rockwork! The tree, too, is pulled off well. Nice build! Quote
Gary The Procrastinator Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Good work Graham. The base is top notch. Quote

Lord Tyrus Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Again, like I said before, keeping the colours more muted really makes it look more realistic! Quote
Balthazar Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Well done! Excellent rockwork and choice of colours.. Quote
songwm Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I like how you made the tree bends like that. Quote
