fred67 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) I did not want to make an actual poll because I'm actually hoping to hear your ideas about themes I may not have thought of. So, if TLG insists on making themed CMF series anyway, what themes would you want, and it would be cool to list at least a few of the figures you'd like to see from those. To make it more fun, if you don't want to stick to viable themes, just go ahead and do anything. I can name a bunch of themes I'd like, but in the interest of leaving it up to discussion, I'll just throw out this mostly(*) unviable one: Horror: Michael Myers (Halloween) Freddy Krugger (Nightmare on Elm Street) Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) Alien (Alien) Chucky (Child's Play) Ash (Evil Dead 2) Jack Torrence (The Shining... he'd need a Jack Nicholson crazed face and an axe) Shaun (Shaun of the Dead) The Fly Max Schreck (Shadow of the Vampire) Betelgeuse (Beetlejuice) Edward Scissorhands Carrie (blood covered) I think Betelgeuse and Edward Scissorhands, in particular, would actually be viable; I'd think that about Shaun, too, if it hadn't already been shot down. EDIT: I see I have only one "hero," so I'd add Ripley (Alien), and Ed (Shaun of the Dead). Maybe Laurie (Halloween) and Lydia (Beetlejuice)... and Robert8, I agree... that's why I phrased it "if TLG insists." I liked the Simpsons, but would have preferred them released along with the normal series. I also skipped the TLM series with the exception of a few interesting figures (I did not "collect" them the way I've done other series). Those two were not numbered series, though. Perhaps they should call S14 something else, like Halloween Series or something. Edited January 25, 2015 by fred67 Quote

Dorayaki Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) I'm not really sure about this idea so far. It's against the expectations from some FOLs who expect pure diversity in a single series and some expected characters could not really appear in a idea-themed series. IMO, yes, LEGO can introduce original themes for CMF, but the ideas have to be very trival and specific because they couldn't individually appear in a normal series (well..... unless LEGO won't make normal series anymore). If a single normal CMF series only include the most representive idea, that means a very specific character couldn't make it to the series. For example, Oiwa might be the most trival idea for a Japanese character, she can live in a Japanese-themed series but not in a normal series. Some of the Halloween characters are qualified because they do have very specific concepts. City isn't a good one because we've seen individual City workers and personalities in previous series, also this may not appeal the targeted children. My persnoal vote is for Alexandre's fairytale characters. They're very specific and LEGO wouldn't really make Fairytale a regular theme with buildings. Edited January 25, 2015 by Dorayaki Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Since 'jonwil' took city........I'll suggest Buck Rogers. 1. Buck Rogers in EDD uniform 2. Wilma Deering in EDD uniform 3. Ardala 4. Kane 5. Buck Rogers in NASA flight suit with double sided head (one being frozen) 6. Draconian fighter pilot 7. EDD fighter pilot 8. Dr. Huer 9. Twiki 10. Tina 11. Dr. Goodfellow 12. Hawk 13. Vice Admiral Asimov 14. Tigerman 15. Major Marla Landers 16. Hieronymus Fox (played by the late Garry Coleman) You get the idea.....though some of the characters might not be as important, but a cool a ray of good guys and a few bad ones too. Quote
Ogre Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I just commented in the Series 14 speculation thread that I would LOVE to see a Castle themed series. Yes, I know that Castle is already a viable theme in LEGO sets...BUT...take a look at the last Castle theme releases. *Yawn* Boring as heck. 'Kingdoms' was FAR superior, in style AND substance but, even then, we lacked 'MORE'. More lords and ladies, more town folk, more civilian buildings, etc., etc. I don't know about the rest of you but, I'm rather tired of seeing "blacksmith shops" as being practically the only civilian 'buildings' in a Castle theme. So, by doing a themed Castle series of minifigs, we could at least have a correction to ONE of the problems (lack of themed figs NOT in armour, or wearing a crown). Sure, it doesn't do much about the cruddy selection of buildings but, at least in THAT regard, I can build my own. Can't think of what figs might work well in such a themed series release? Take a walk around a Ren Fest and I'm sure you'll see HUNDREDS of ideas. Quote
Blakstone Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 If LEGO went down this path, I would want Lord of the Rings or Middle Earth CMF. However that is hard to imagine. So instead they could do Fantasy which would include GreecoRoman characters, King Arthur charcters, some from the Arabian Nights, and possibly Far East myth. You can get a very wide variety under Fantasy that would satisfy a sizable range of collectors. Quote
legofanatic12 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) LEGO City Undercover theme. 1. Civilian Chase McCain 2. Natalia Kowalski 3. Rex Fury 4. Ellie Philips 5. Chief Dunby 6. Mayor Gleeson 7. Frank Honey (Intern) 8. Rose Hayes 9. Dr. Henrik Kowalski 10. Chan Chuang 11. Forrest Blackwell 12. Vinnie Pappalardo 13. Moe De Luca 14. Weather Girl 15. Airline Stewardess 16. Chuck Morrison Horror: Michael Myers (Halloween) Freddy Krugger (Nightmare on Elm Street) Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) Alien (Alien) Chucky (Child's Play) Ash (Evil Dead 2) Jack Torrence (The Shining... he'd need a Jack Nicholson crazed face and an axe) Shaun (Shaun of the Dead) The Fly Max Schreck (Shadow of the Vampire) Betelgeuse (Beetlejuice) Edward Scissorhands Carrie (blood covered) Michel Myers? Jason Voorhees? and Freddy Krueger?? Those iconic horror characters will NEVER be made in LEGO due to graphical content and violence especially a blood-covered Carrie. We already got a Halloween themed special series which is coming this October. I'm 100% against themed CMF series, so I'm doing this just for fun Collectible Minifigures Circus Series 1. Strong Man 2. Stilt Clown 3. Carnival Barker 4. Bearded Woman 5. Trapezist 6. Clown Girl 7. Harlequin 8. Juggler 9. Hobo Clown 10. Cannonball Guy 11. Hypnotist 12. Hooper 13. Acrobat 14. Dorayaki Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I think we might really see a Ninjago series when a movie comes out, however that's the same case with TLM and the topic isn't talking about storywise concepts. And Castle doesn't work in this case, too. We've seen several classic Castle members already in previous two regular series, so LEGO would just have to do the same thing in later regular series. As for other cultures, we've also seen several cultural leaders so far and the chance isn't very big. I personally think we can hardly find out a special series idea that isn't storywise, licensed and doesn't have to do with any regular series. Since it's not necessary, I'm fine with TLG keep going with regular series. Quote
9v system Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I think there should be a viking theme series as I love Vikings so much Quote
