LucasLaughing Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 This build takes place shortly after my Episode VII Entry: We could be heroes. "Hey, wake up, we're about to land..." The flight-medic's voice pulls me out of one nightmare and drops me into another. We land with a gentle thud and the back door hisses open. Surgeon: What do we have? Medic: Approximately 30 year-old male, close proximity to proton bomb. Amputation of right arm at the shoulder, right leg above the knee. Tourniquet fields applied and 2 units of blood administered en route. Pulse is weak, 90 bpm. Surgeon: Hey, open your eyes for me. What's his name? Birdman: Romeo. Surgeon: Romeo, open your eyes. There you go. You're in the hospital, you're going to be okay, just try to stay awake for me. The medic and the surgeon continue to throw medical jargon at each other. I follow along, sick to my stomach. Romeo is making horrible, quiet noises. The corridor smells of industrial strength antiseptic, barely masking the stench of human waste. I watch from the hall as they transfer Romeo onto the operating table. I feel helpless. I'm not used to feeling helpless. Medic: Don't worry - they'll take good care of him. Crash is dead. Romeo is ... broken. It's my fault. Clovis MP: Corporal Lucas Kirana? I look up, nod. Clovis MP: Sir, I need you to come with us. You're not under arrest, but under section 184.53 of the Clovis-Imperial treaty we are authorized to detain members of the Empire while we conduct an investigation into the death of Clovis military troops. Don't worry, sir ... we've notified your commanding officer - we'll get it all sorted out. I wish people would stop telling me not to worry. Damn Clovis and its miles of regulations and red tape. I briefly calculate the odds; 3-to-1, but they looks slow and out of practice. I could take at least two of them before ... no, no point going down that road. I get up wearily and let them take me away. ------------------------------------------------------ Out of character: I know this build skips ahead some story-wise, but rest assured more details will be filled in over the next few freebuilds. Jacob Nion Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Very great. I like that we are not given any details until your next build. That's very thrilling. The medical equipment is fantastic with all these arms and gadgets is brilliant, especially the ventilator. Quote
markus1984 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Great story, moc and techniques! The medical equipment looks really awesome! Well done! markus Quote
Tariq j Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Great work and story, can't wait to see the next part of the story. Quote
Kodan Black Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 On the next episode of Imperial ER... Love the look of the hospital and all the medical equipment. Great realism with the one guy holding the blood bag and the other with the air assist bag. The OR is particularly well done. A really fantastic build and I can't wait to see where this all goes! Imperial ER, eh? I smell a new spin-off series This build was partly inspired by a documentary on Netflix about combat medics, so I had good source material to help with the realism / details. Quote
atlas Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 So much NPU in this. I think my favourite part is the zam wessell head for a surgeon. That's ingenious. Quote
Lord Tyrus Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I thought I commented?! Anyway, love the dynamism, and the build looks great! Quote
Disco86 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Cool entry, the medical equipment is my favorite part and the build itself really shows the antiseptic environment. Also a dramatic story. But what happened between this and the last story ? Quote
MKJoshA Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Great story and great medical details! I love your use of printed and stickered tiles for the med stuff. Quote
goatman461 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 A lot of great details in here, but I don't get a strong Star-Wars vibe from it. Making it a non-Empire hospital helps, but I think it's the general color scheme and minifigures that make this look like a City build, IMHO. The surgery room equipment is very well done and your third picture makes me want to see more of the hallway. I also like how you can see the medical droid in the window behind Birdman. This is an interesting turn in your story arc. Goatm knows a good arm guy if Romeo is interested. Quote

Thank you! The "missing link" in the stories will be filled in during the next free build (or possibly the one after that, depending on how the building goes ) Great story and great medical details! Making it a non-Empire hospital helps, but I think it's the general color scheme and minifigures that make this look like a City build, IMHO. Yeah, that's fair. There wasn't a lot of source material re: medical treatment in the Empire so I had to sort of fake it, but I see what you mean about the city feel. This is an interesting turn in your story arc. Goatm knows a good arm guy if Romeo is interested. Quite realistic. Nice use of a BVM Thanks! Quote
