To be honest I'd be all for this being moved to action themes, not because I don't consider it a Castle theme myself (I do), but because I just think its eclectic nature would be better appreciated there. This theme feels to me like the science-fantasy theme Knight's Kingdom SHOULD'VE been (instead of trying in vain to look more like traditional fantasy by neutering some of its most promising concepts). I think in Action themes (not Space, since so far we've seen nothing to suggest that this theme has any extraterrestrial content), it'd get more attention from people who appreciate it for what it is, and less whining from people hoping for it to be something it's not.

I fully agree with that. I understand the disappointment form the medieval castle fan base very well, but it's certainly not bad!

I really like the look of the characters on the promotional art picture. I love that bulky armor, the unique visors and the "faction-ed" shields and armour inlay, so to speak. This looks much better than the knight's kingdom figures (those unique visors were too damn big!), yet it is the same concept. Those lava beasts.... me gusta!

Agree at 100%

But after seeing the pics now I'm sure this will remain in the LEGO Historic Themes because LEGO itself is promoting the line as a Castle theme

I like these sets. They seem original and interesting. I might pick the catapult.

But I need to see the TanKastel and Jestro sets.

EDIT: 100th post... CITIZEN!!

So it is a castle sub? How do you know?

"Boys love the iconic knight-themed models with tech upgrades".

Lyichir makes a good point, though.

And don't forget the "Save the Kingdom!" line

I hope you're wrong. With little overlap, it seems to be two different audiences. This is just my impression, as I haven't done the math, but it seems to me that the majority of the positive reactions are from people who rarely/never post in the historic forum. I would rather this theme go in the action themes forum or else we're likely to see more collision of tastes and the argumentative BS that goes with it.

"Boys love the iconic knight-themed models with tech upgrades".

-snip-

I missed that. Or is that from the job opening they had? I remember something like them wanting to hire people for this, and it gave a little discription, about it being a toy for boys. Is that is? I googled that phrase but didn't find what you are talking about.

edit - my bad its at the bottom again -_-'

But couldn't the same be said for ninjago? "Boys love the iconic ninja-themed models with tech upgrades" I'm not saying I know it won't be a castle theme, but some people think it will be and I don't get why, when lego has already done chima and ninjago, emphasis on the last.

^ We could keep it here and make a "Future Castle Sets?" topic, that way all of the regular Castle fans could ignore the Nexo topic and just post there, like I do with the Lotr thread.

We should probably stop talking about this though, as this was why the topic was locked before (I think).

So, favorite set so far? :classic:

Great scott! I just noticed how outrageously badass the Bull knight looks (just need to swap the face with a cool one)! That visor is just amazing and he has a kind of energy battle axe! The pixelated printing on the shield(s in general) comes out pretty awesome as well! :sweet:

My point was not about the thread name or proper forum, it was about the categorization as a castle subtheme.

I think it was us all being idiots ;)

70315 is my favorite! I also like the look of the castle (qua parts), but I need to see proper pictures of it before I can make up my mind about it.

I've pretty much noticed this too. Lots of comments of people saying how the theme really itches their desire for <insert something that has nothing to do with Castle>.

edit: this is a comment on the likelihood of this theme being officially recognized as Castle by Lego...which would be a pretty good indicator that we'd not get another traditional Castle theme until this theme has run it's course.

Didn't see your post, I was responding to SirBlake.

Sorry 'bout that.

Not sure if they're quite bigfigs, but the guy in the lava launcher and the knight with the bull emblem seem to be larger than the others.

The Bull Knight looks like a regular minifigure body to me, just the head seems to attached to the bulky neckpiece, instead of the torso.

Of course, he a new moulded arm

I think he has a 2012 Garmadon-like piece under the armor, he looks almost twice as big as Lance.

Hmmm... After seeing the sets... I'm not too sure.

Something about the sets just doesn't seem that appealing. I'll reserve further judgment until we get official images.

Although I'll be selective in which sets I buy from this theme, much like with ninjago and chima I am really excited for the new molds, armor and weapon designs we are likely to get

Already saw images from preliminary catalog. Sets are worth, then I thought :cry_sad:

Wow this new Nexo Knights sets look really awesome. Really excited about them now. Sets 70313 and 70314 really peak my interest. Villain vehicles and Knights themselves look really awesome with these new shield pieces.

Ok, I saw the pictures! (4chan is a dark and mysterious place...)

Wow. Overall this is exactly what I thought it'd be... except I was not expecting it to be essentially KK2 2.0 wow. this theme looks hilarious! I imagine the thought process of the designers went something like this:

"Hey, you know how we had that castle theme that was really popular that had a kind of heman-esque sci-fi fantasy undercurrent that ended up being underdeveloped?"

"Yeah! That was a lucrative theme. Kids liked the colour coded protagonists! That's one of the reasons Ninjago is doing so well!"

"So yeah I was thinking, I just saw mad max fury road, and what if...."

"NEXO KNIGHTS"

 I'll give my thoughts on a set by set basis in a few, but overall I'm conflicted. I think the theme may have some potential. Oddly enough, I think it's more grounded than Ninjago (vaguely Japanese inspired anachronistic fantasy with lots of mad max and just crazyness) or Chima (mad max + furries), and I love the jester as the primary antagonist, and the chaos lava monsters are unique (although they're really clearly "demon"s) I don't like the knight vehicles. At all. Pieces are good in some though. I think KK2 was actually better than this, with the uniform scorpion army of awesomeness, but the villain here is less archtypical than Vladek was so that could go either way, being good due to uniqueness, or falling flat due to being too wacky and weird.

More later.

Honestly I'm most excited to get the bull knight. He looks awesome! I didnt think I'd be as excited as I am for Nexo Knights as a whole.

This is already my favorite theme for 2016. I love how Macy has a mace and how it uses new tiny pyramid pieces. That big knight is awesome, which one is he? Macy is the red one, lance is the one with the horse shield. Clay is in the back with dark blue and sword. Aaron is the green one at the top. Robin was confirmed to be a short legged knight with Luke's hair piece in the ultimate sets. So now that leaves the big knight, do we know his name? I was right about the chewy bow and arrow blaster being used in this theme. It belongs to the green knight. Jestro just looks creepy and I guess that could make him a good villain. Now we just need to see the ultimate sets and the fortrex castle.

Now where's that page with the jestro set and castle? I need to see those for a final judgement on this theme.

Am I the only one thinking that this theme has a very "retro" vibe ? I think it would not be out of place on a Saturday morning, right next to Thundercats and He-Man.

BTW - found some pics of Jestro. Looks like a cross between a zombie, a jester and the Joker.
