Sorrelon Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Interesting that the crossbow piece is new and different from chewie's. I can't wait to see a better picture of them. From what I can tell they remind me of the Baracca squid shooters. ~Insectoid Aristocrat As far as I remember, someone told that crossbow was a new spring shooter pieces. But the Chewie style croosbow will also appear in one of the small Elves sets. Not sure about the colour scheme though, hopefully not too Friends-ish. Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Looking at the prelim pictures, I really like the Jester guy. The villain in the chariot set looks nice and useful. The robot horse in that same set looks pretty good too! It seems like I'll pick that set and the big Robo-Horse which also looks great in my opinion, it'll just need some modifications. The little robot knights look cute and adorable. So far this theme looks good since I mostly like Adventure and Action type of themes. I'll just have to wait to see how the storylike for this theme will go. What I'm not hoping for are "funny" villains. I would rather seem them as menacing monsters rather than funny and comical ones. From what I can tell they remind me of the Baracca squid shooters. Baracca? Quote
Hive Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 I understand peoples' unwillingness to call this Castle because they hate it, but I think it has more than enough Castle elements to count. Knights, wizards, jesters, kings, and an actual castle? It's definitely a Castle theme, but it's far from the traditional medieval fantasy many of us wanted. It's an action theme, no doubt about it. We didn't see Ninjago or Pharaoh Quest in "historic themes" either, and this is *very* similar thematically and conceptually. For those of you who cannot understand why this theme is getting so many negative reactions, try to understand this: we wanted a historical and/or fantasy castle theme. And Nexo Knights does not deliver on that in any way, shape or form. Some of you love it, and that's fine - but many of us here are not into Ninjago and Chima, and thus have no interest in any way in this successor. Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 What I'm not hoping for are "funny" villains. I would rather seem them as menacing monsters rather than funny and comical ones. In Jestro's case, I'm expecting both! I can't wait to find out his origin. Formerly human and corrupted by the spellbook? Monstrous all along? Who knows? But since it's a kid-oriented theme and show, I imagine that the grunts will be goofy monsters while the normal minifigures will be more serious. Quote

benderisgreat Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 I get that some people are upset because they wanted standart medieval line, but we are getting futuristic Knights instead. Personally I love the concept and from poster of the theme I like the look of Knights and Jestro. But sets themselves? Ugh, from 6 sets I've seen I only like 2 : Chariot of beast master and lava monster with huge fists. Sure 2 of these are impulse buy sets, but robot horse set isn't that interesting looking to me. Blade car with Nexo Knights isn't that appealing to me either. Granted we haven't seen pics of Jestros vehicle and Giant moving castle sets, and haven't seen tv show to put sets into some context. So far I love the idea, but most of the sets are nah... Quote
gedren_y Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 About the crossbow, I think it is actually two parts. It looks like the bow part has been designed so that it can accommodate either a stud shooter or spring launcher. 70315 does look like it splits into three, the center being a motorcycle. There is what looks like a wheel under the nosecone. Moltor looks to have the large hand weapon mold from Chima and LOTR/Hobbit orc armor. His Lava Smasher also seems to have one of those pentagon parts from the shields in black, and the new wedge part from the castle in brown/dark brown/dark red. I can't wait to see the shields sans pentagon piece. I am already thinking of using it in some science lab type build. If the final shields do come with the heraldry type printing shown in the cartoon style pic, I can see a build using those as banners hung on the walls of a great hall. I like that the mobile castle (in the background of the artwork pic) uses the large linking treads instead of rubber tread pieces, because those are great for making round towers. Now I need to get that set as well. Lots of ideas swirling around my head. Quote
TPLSTER21 Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 70315 looks like it splits into two cycles with the robo-knights and a flying thing with the giant sword on the front. Anyone else notice this? I think you are correct. The 2 pods that the robot knights sit in look to be able to detach or shoot out from the main vehicle. As for what the main vehicle does when they are detached, that's harder to tell as I can't see anything in there that looks like wings. There appears to be substantial framework on the outside of the model to lock in the bikes when they are combined with the body. Unless the top piece with the giant blade and cockpit also detaches itself from the frame. Good eye though! Also, has anyone found images of the castle, ultimate sets or Jestro's companions of darkness? Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 I personally love where this theme is going, but only three sets are appealing to me. I definitely want the Chaos Chariot and Jestro's Companions. Fortrex might join the list once I see the prelims. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 So, there's a KKII-inspired coming up, but still no Orient Expedition remake or further Johnny Thunder theme? Things aren't going so great for us Adventurers fans (with the exception of the Lego Movie cameo).... In all seriousness, though, this theme doesn't really do much for me--but as a 26-year-old AFOL, I realize that it's not really designed for me. It's a cool idea, and I like some of the designs. And, like Power Miners, the color scheme might grow on me. Of course, I'm mainly collecting modulars and the odd impulse buy--we'll see if Nexo Knights has anything that would pique my interest. Robert8 Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 (edited) Granted we haven't seen pics of Jestros vehicle and Giant moving castle sets.. CM4Sci draws were totally spot on. Seriously. Jestro set is somewhat similar to this one: (With smaller wheels.) The minifigures are the Golem (?) seen in the cover, one Nexo Knight (Lance in a flying mini robo horse), 2 or 3 lava minions and Jestro. I'm pretty sure the Jestro seen in the cover in the final form, not prem. Edited September 20, 2015 by Robert8 Quote

Isundir Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 (edited) Personally, I love the concept. It's the set designs that bother me. They just seem so... Old school. They don't look as pretty as other modern-day sets. really wanted to keep my trap shut but really This, these sets look like they were made 30 years too late. I kind of like the Knights from what we can see and I do not dislike the idea behind the theme but the overall set design looks really outdated, lots of big ugly pieces and just seems like eh unfinished I would say. Take everything that TLG has done in terms of improvements over the years and throw it out the window for Nexo Knights, either that or I am blind? I don't want to hate but I really can't wrap my head around this. Edited September 20, 2015 by Isundir Quote
jedijon Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 So if prelims blow; what are we really saying? That without "simulated play" pictures...and stickers...these are not neat looking? Because they're not neat looking! Quote
DuckBricks Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 So if prelims blow; what are we really saying? That without "simulated play" pictures...and stickers...these are not neat looking? Because they're not neat looking! Prelims almost always change builds until the final product is revealed. However, it is true that if you don't like them, you probably won't like the final sets, as the prelims are always a good representation. Personally, I think the reason so many people in this forum don't like the sets is because it's miscategorized as a Historical Theme. I'm sure that all the Ninjago, Elves, and Chima fans over in Action and Adventure will love these (like me). As far as those people who say that LEGO stated that this is a castle theme, the only indication is a Kingdom, Knights, and Castles. Saying that this is a castle theme is the same as saying Ninjago is a Historical ninja theme because there's a Sensei and ninjas. Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Again, much of the disappointment comes from the theme's direction. People are unwilling to call it Castle, since this theme is so different, and apparently an insult to Castle itself. I think it's very fresh and creative, and I love the villains. I'm so glad the bad guy isn't an evil wizard. I don't like half of the sets, though, mainly because some of them are very generic and fairly boring. That's the sort of thing we should be complaining about. Quote
Robert8 Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 (edited) Golem? Jestro is really good looking figure from that promo poster! Btw is Lance a blue knight in the center of poster? The "golem" is that big guy with one eye that can be seen in the cover, next to the bull crest Knight And yes, that's Lance ^ Where did you see it? BrickJagger Posted September 20, 2015 Author Posted September 20, 2015 There was a page with the Jestro set on it? Searched around 4chan and TTV, couldn't find it. Quote
gedren_y Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Lance is the one with the horse symbol, as he is completely silver in the set image, and he is holding a lance (trans) in the artwork image. Quote

Someone sent it to me I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but the Fortrex set has some pretty cool emblems. It's pretty similar to the black falcons emblem but with a crown. For the castle, can you tell if the Bull Knight is a big-fig or larger than a mini fig? Also, can you describe what the enemy build is in the castle set? Also, if you have pics of the ultimates, could you describe them? Quote
Bigger Fish Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 I don't see why everyone's hating on this, I love it! Though I have always been really fond of the whole science fantasy type thing like this theme. (P.S. Why do people hate on Chima as well? I thought that those sets were pretty cool.) Quote

Also, if you have pics of the ultimates, could you describe them? -The Bull Knight seems to have regular legs and regular torso without arms. He has a huge chest/armor piece that includes the arms, which look like you can see in the cover. Can't give any additional detail because he looks completely white in the set. (just the helmet is colored) Fortrex includes: 1 villain, 2 lava minions, 3 Nexo Knights (including the Bull) and something that looks like the Zombie Chef from the Haunted Mansion This is speculation: I believe the zombie chef is a placeholder for either the King or the Wizard, Merlok The villain in Fortrex has a small flying vehicle. -The ultimates are just Knights with brickbuilt weapons attached to the chest/armor piece. For instance, Ultimate Clay has some sort of helicopter helices. His shield has a Tornado crest Edited September 20, 2015 by Robert8 Quote
