Just noticed that the site has taken some of the markers away....flama, Whipperella and the group shot one at the top, me thinks they were not meant to be leaked yet.

I don't expect some complex vilains nor intricate plot and twist in the NK first season storyline (maybe later, when the first buyers get older ?). It should be something like :

"Haha I am Jestro, I will burn Knightonia, who is laughing now ?" (plop plop plop, hundreds of evil Lava monsters pop out of the evil book)

"Ho no, we are the good guies, what to do ? Oh I got an Idea, let's use our super upgrades and cool 100 euros Fortrex to beat them hard!"

"Arff you beat me hard, but I will come back with mooooorrree expensive lava monsters lego sets, mouarmouarfmouarf !!!!"

which is a pity, I think Pixar or Star Wars movies prove a good story can please at the same time young kids, teens and adults... And youngers ones appreciate we respect them with a proper story, not full of cliché... (NB ; Ninjago plots are not that bad)

I think the point of the shows are simply to sell toys. That's what they're for, and the sets rely on the show more than the opposite. It's a shame, because they could make it quality entertainment, but they just want their products to be sold.

Well, the Ninjago TV series is definitely "quality entertainment" compared to a lot of the old merchandise-driven cartoons from the 80s (Transformers, G.I. Joe, etc). In fact I'd say cartoons in general are a lot better than they were back then when companies were first discovering "hey, we can use cartoons as extended toy commercials!" Ninjago is far from the best cartoon out there, or even the best merchandise-driven cartoon out there, but it's generally pretty good and it's not surprising it has so many fans. I can only hope that the Nexo Knights cartoon will be as good!

Yes, but in a way, strong from an unchallenged position in the toy business Lego is integrating vertically other field of the entertainment business like the cartoon, movie, apps and video games business. It helps sell gigatons of sets, bring surely money from the company using Lego image, and prevent TLC to pay even more license fees to Disney and Co (Marvel, Star Wars, Frozen etc...).So they should aim big.

Lego Movie was super good, and a sucess. If they give a proper care to NK cartoon (more than Chima...), it could (have) become a cult serie, generating more buzz and more sells.... It's not expensive to hire scenarists so the childishness apparent in the NK teaser is probably a strategical and calculated decision...

But still I wish they aim at something like How to train your dragons... Or Kung-Fu Panda...they are all the fun stories of a gang of 6 good guies (5 for NK and Ninjago), with cool special powers (dragons, kung-fu etc...) in an exotic action-packed world. The characters and plot are much less cheesy in these dreamwork movie series, yet the kids love them...

I don't think that would be likely. Ionix has the HTTYD license though it may have expired.

Back to the battle pack discussion, I think they could do it with blister packs the way they did with Castle 2013. And the new Ninjago Army Builder makes me think it will be more likely than the Chima Tribes.

Saw one of them in my local toys r us but on the back it stated not for sale...seemed slightly odd.

No way. :look: Which?

Nice, really? That's so weird this early! Take a pic!

@dannalcorn - are you referring to the Ninjago Army Builder/Battle pack in the previous post from x105Black or are you referring to a Nexo Knight set? If you could provide further clarification as to what you saw and perhaps a pic as per CM4Sci & legozebra's posts, that would be great! Thanks!

Sorry im refering to the ninjago set.

As for nexo knights i got the new Mega magazine in the UK and it has Nexo Knights on the front with a 2 page spread about it. Nothing much thats new except this little nugget of info.

Cant attach the picture cause its too big but it states you can battle with toys and the app when its released on 26th december.

Interesting. The article says: "You can battle with the toys and app when it's in shops from 26 December!" So...I assume they are saying that they sets and app will both be released on December 26th. But they could also be referring only to the app as they use "it's in" and not "they are". Also, by "shop" I know they mean "store" as this is a European magazine, but are they talking about a retail shop for the sets or an online shop for the app? Some clearer sentence structure (Really, who wrote this?) would have been nice.

But, I'm pretty sure that what they are TRYING to say is that the release date for the sets will be December 26th along with the app. Since that would be the worst release date in the history of retail, I think it is looking more and more like a pre-Christmas release for the line.

Again, I don't see why everyone assumes post-Christmas is such a bad time to release new products. It's a GREAT time for Lego, because not only has a lot of old inventory at retailers been cleared out to make room for launching a massive wave of products but many, many kids will have received cash and/or gift cards that they'll be looking to redeem. True, a lot of sales could be racked up by launching the sets before Christmas... at the expense of that year's "summer" sets, which kids will have been saving up for and retailers will have been looking to offload. Much better to wait until after and launch the next big thing in the vacuum left by Christmas promotions, where it will have no trouble competing for shelf space or the attention of customers.

I agree with Lyichir.

99% of lego customers are kids. And NK is targeted for young kids. And those don't choose their gifts 3 days before christmas. A lot of them will have wrote to Santa as early as November... Same for their Aunty who have been told what to buy a month before christmas.

And 99% of kids are not dreaming at Nexo Knights, they doesn't know it even exist... No point to cannibalize the last Chima sets (or even Ninjago Ghosts) by pushing too early NK...

And any date is good to sell lego these days...

Maybe NK will be available before Christmas, but it will be a small % of Lego sells. Mostly some older kids and AFOL...

Agreed. Also, they did this for Chima, and I don't see why not for NK...

I know Lego won't go that route but what if Jestro was the kind of villain who could easily beat the heroes without any effort but doesn't cause there wouldn't be any challenge in doing so.

So instead he uses his minions to create chaos for the heroes to fight and enjoys watching the madness happen. He doesn't get upset at losing but instead takes it as a challenge to come up with even more chaotic schemes that the heroes have to overcome. And all with the Heroes not even knowing this.

Guys, it is not my intention to argue what is or isn't a good date to release sets.

The point I am trying to make is that given the original release date of Jan. 1st, it is likely like the line will be released before Christmas. Even now, if this magazine is correct with their date (I don't think it is an official Lego publication...?), then the release date (in the UK at least) has already been moved forward by 5 days and into the calendar year 2015. Given that, it is now even more likely that these will be out before Christmas. And never underestimate the resourcefulness of kids. My son is already well aware of the line and wants to put a couple of sets on his Christmas list!

By the way Jestro, a jester, is a strange main antogonist to lead an horde of lava monster. Stranger than Saroumane leading his horde of orcs. (NB: this year vilains really feel like red orcs to me...).

Not even Jestro colors match his army...

I imagine the developpers meeting :

"hum, who could be our castle guy turned evil ? The cook ? The princess ? Ohh I know a creazy Jester ala Harley Quinn... But a man, so it will be less obvious, and better replace black by some dark purple...

But then as he as not relation to lava (he is no blacksmith who fall in his fire or something...), when lava army is gone (2017 ?), and if the book stay for a while in the background, he could still be around as well, or even lead a different army... (but to stay fresh and avoid a new army summoned by the book, I still thing Lego will try bring a new vilain even more badass and bankable...)

My son is already well aware of the line and wants to put a couple of sets on his Christmas list!

in a lot of ways, AFOL kids can't be considered "normal" kids :)
