Hrmmm....I hope not :/ I guess that makes them more universal...

Won't affect my purchase decisions, but I don't apply stickers as a rule.

stickers I believe, on some pictures they are not properly centered... which would be a pity, feels silly to pay hundreds of euros to collect stickers...

zoom on the shields here :

They're stickers? Aw, what the heck? What's the point of even taking them off the sheet then, you'd only use 'em for the app. . .

I think given that the shields are often unique to each set it probably wouldn't make sense to print them. I think the blank shields are more useful anyway.,

True

The other molded detail more than makes up for it. King's Mech may have to get a regular blue chest shield or that gold one.

Having seen the pictures, I can say that the Ultimates look laughably rediculous. I am also not a fan of the transparent visors and Armour... they make an otherwise low reusability piece even less reusable. I'm sure some genius MoC expert will think of a use for the transparent armours... but I can't think if anything. Also, the Knights' Torsos look... worse?

Anyways, these were prelims rudely smuggled behind Lego's back and are therefore unflattering, I'm sure. I bet the final products will look.... more worth 10$s. I also respect that they aren't trying some Gimmick, like the Speedorz, or the Spinjitzu things. Those always artificially raised the price of the "cheap" minifigure sets. These are much more worth the money it seems.

Still thinking of getting Macy.

Lavaria looks just great! I'll be getting at least one of her! I hope she has actual Legs too, though. Beautiful figure!

Agreed. I think I'd much rather the Shields be blank. I'm a fan of utility, and if I want the stickers on, then the shape of the Shield is actually pretty easy to put a sticker on anyways. :classic:

I suppose they're fine blank as a structural piece, but an undecorated shield looks rather boring on the battlefield. We're getting blank shields in other sets, used as tiles, so I don't see why they couldn't just print these.

Just came across

TTV conducted with some of the Nexo Knights creators. Apparently, not only can you scan powers from the shields in the sets, there will also be powers to scan from the TV episodes, the books, etc. Also, Nexo Knights development apparently started in 2009, so it's a concept they've been refining for over five years.

agreed, both would have been nice. But it means printing what after few years would be 100+ of different shields...

I'll have to watch the video later, but it sounds like they took a much longer time developing this than necessary. They should go "back to formula."

So, they were planning to rehash KK2, just 3 years after it ended

I think the Ultimates look just fine. Though Macy and Robin are going to be ridiculously top heavy with there massive weapons. Lavaria looks great though I had a feeling she would be made similarly to Evil Dr. Brainstein from Ultra Agents just with Chima bat wings. The wings don't look like they connect to the minifigure torso but instead connect to the part that makes up the base of the legs

Bear in mind that some of that time might have just been a matter of waiting for the opportune moment. It would have been a mistake to launch it right after launching another big action-adventure theme like Ninjago or Legends of Chima, for instance. Also, a lot of the early years would have mostly involved testing different versions of the core concept with kids and refining it to make it the best theme it could be.

That's exactly the opposite of what they did with Galidor, which was hastily rushed to production as soon as the LEGO Group found out Bionicle was a hit. This is the first time I've ever heard anybody complain that LEGO spent too much time developing a theme. I'm not even sure how that would work... you'd think every bit of time spent refining a theme prior to its launch would be a positive influence.
