maginnster27 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 and lego Mixels :) I am afraid the good guys building and minifigs will stay, like in the cartoon, too much futuristic for that, but the vilains on the other hands... Especially if we get some fantasy baddies in next wawes (orcs, lezard-men etc...) Come on guys... He is a constructive antagonist, we all love and need some vilains to fight. People consider themselves to be the protagonists of their own life, yet I see myself as An antagonist in other peoples lives XD Quote
Peppermint_M Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Ahem, this is a gentle tap with the my space-lazer-impact-falchion that we remain on topic guys. (Everyone is drifting a little, so I am dropping by to say "Stay on target!") I personally think that this theme needs more unicorns. Giant robot alicorns even. But that is because the aesthetic here really reminds me of some facets of Zoids and I love me some Zoids. (Chima sort of varied in that respect.) Loving the baddies though. I just can't wait to see reactions from some parties on those lava monsters. Quote
Actor Builder Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I just can't wait to see reactions from some parties on those lava monsters. That's true...I hadn't thought of that. If too many groups claim that these little blob guys are distasteful, LEGO may not produce them in more sets later on and they'll end up super rare. I'll be collecting these cute little blob-demons. I have decided. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Yeah, I too worry about the backlash from "Christian Mothers Against..." groups. Hopefully it's nothing the good folks at Lego can't handle! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

Hopefully it's nothing the good folks at Lego can't handle! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Does anyone remember that crazy religious site a while back that said Lego was the toy of the devil? I really want to read that again. Of course some crazy people will take it the wrong way, but only a handful. I don't see anything wrong with the Lava Monsters, they seem pretty playful to me. Quote
Vorkosigan Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Any guesses on the distribution of the polybags we've seen? I'm hoping the bad guy cart will be at Target, maybe the Valentine's section (he's red after all). Quote
x105Black Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Fair enough. Personally, I don't know if the prospects for more traditional medieval fantasy sets are really so dire. After all, we've already seen LEGO produce licensed sets that are more or less within the same "genre" as existing non-licensed themes. And as the LEGO Group continues to grow I think there will be more and more room for non-licensed sets and themes that are inspired by similar subject matter. After all, if Castle and The Hobbit could coexist even temporarily, why couldn't a non-licensed Castle theme coexist with Nexo Knights? Surely those two themes would be even MORE different from one another. I believe some people in the Castle forum have brought up the possibility of LEGO Creator stepping outside its comfort zone of modern-day buildings and vehicles and introducing "3-in-1" sets inspired by medieval fantasy. That doesn't seem all that far-fetched to me, particularly without a competing medieval fantasy theme on the shelves. There is also the possibility of more Castle-inspired minifigures in future collectible minifigure series. Or of future medieval fantasy sets through LEGO Ideas. Or even of occasional Nexo Knights sets that steer clear of the more sci-fi elements of the series, much like Enter the Serpent, Jungle Trap, Lava Falls, and Master Wu Dragon did in this year's Ninjago range. This is the Nexo Knights discussion topic. I believe that means this is the place to share what you have to say about Nexo Knights, be it positive or negative. Reading opinions that are different from yours over and over can be frustrating, but people should be able to share those opinions when they're relevant to the discussion. Otherwise we run into a situation where everybody on Eurobricks stays in their own little bubble of preferred themes. The fact that x105 Black continues to contribute to this topic means he's willing to read opinions that he disagrees with, even if they disturb him. Those of us who like the theme should probably extend the same courtesy. If you really feel like those dissenting comments get in the way of discussion you can just ignore them. I totally agree that a traditional Castle theme could coexist with Nexo Knights. I just hope that the good people at LEGO agree. As for Creator 3-in-1, that could be nice, but very basic. I'd hope for Creator Modular. He's simply a troll. He's now desperately trying to engage people with his comments questioning their likes. However the mods are letting him do it, so simply try to ignore him and he'll hopefully move on eventually. I'm not a troll. I'm not desperately doing anything. I'm just voicing my opinion about this theme. There are things I like about it, and things I don't like about it. The biggest thing I don't like about it is that it exists and precludes any traditional Castle sets. The biggest thing I like about it is that it has a few useful new parts and that it is currently scheduled to be gone in 3 years. Ahem, this is a gentle tap with the my space-lazer-impact-falchion that we remain on topic guys. Robot unicorns would fit well in this theme. I would hope they would look better than that awful Robo-Horse. I'd like to see a dragon in this theme, except I hope it resembles Mechagodzilla. I much prefer the villains in these sets to the heroes, but I think those little lava monsters are unappealing. They are goofy and silly, and they remind me of those green ghosts from Ninjago that I don't like, or the colored ghosts in the Ghostbusters HQ set that I don't like. I can see why all of these exist, though. Quote
Rayskull Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 You can make what ever you want with LEGO so there's no need to be disappointed. Castle uses some of the most common parts. I want a smaller flying Nexo Knight Fort... Guess what? I'm designing it with existing pieces. I made a thread of my design process. Occasionally I'll check BL to see the availability of parts. But the amazing thing is I can have exactly what I want, when I want it with LEGO. Totally not possible with any other property. Quote
Vindice Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 This is a very good point. TLG would do well to steer clear of the word demon in any of the sets. This would actually see delisting from some retailers. I still remember the Jabba's Palace debacle! Quote

Look at all of the minifigures in this theme. There are even 2 polls about which one is your favorite. A new Castle theme would come with new Castle minifigures, maybe new armor, shields, barding, and other such things. These are things that I cannot make on my own (to the quality of official LEGO products) or buy on BrickLink or eBay. It's not all about building the structures. I know I can do that, and I do. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 So the lava monsters are causing backlash? I'm confused. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Oh no! The lava monsters are not causing backlash, but look at what they look like. Then know that there are some people who complain that black LEGO is the colour black and therefore satanic... I was just having a little laugh, but it is not unheard of for a group or a newspaper to fill time looking for stuff to be offended by. Quote
x105Black Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 That would actually be cool. It would be funny and amuse me because they are obviously lava monsters, not demons. And even if they were demons, who cares? Or why should someone caring affect anything? Quote

In the end, Jabba's Palace still lived its full life, and Lego had to do nothing about it except respond and make the money they intended. On the subject of offended parents, there are those that are just as offended with Ninjago as anyone would be about "demon-like-lava-monsters." Haunting spirits, cultists that worship snakes, and, dare I say it... *shudders* elemental magic(!!) are just a few of the hilarious cases I've seen. I'm sure Lego is familiar with such extremes from parents. Truly no one is satisfied with anything these days. Edited November 17, 2015 by Penkid11 Quote
TheBrickPal Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 To be fair, the "demons" have an official name: Scurriers. LEGO and us need not worry. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Okay. Now an attempt at a bit of a joke has turned into this. . Books. Books. I love books! (Iamsoalone) Are there not some wonderful book moulds out there in the theme? My LEGO Librarian will have many wonderful books for the shelves and The Librarian will have some nice grim grimoires. Quote
Actor Builder Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 The Book pieces are very nice! LEGO better not print any weird demonic symbols on them though, or... I jest. The book pieces are awesome and I can't wait to have a lot of them. At least enough to replace all my old book pieces. By the way, does anyone want to buy some old worthless book pieces? They get stress marks when used properly, can't be held by minifigs, and are some of the most terrible pieces ever. I'm selling them because I hate them. Any buyers? Quote
ChristopheQ Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 it has been post in the ninjago 2016 thread. From brickset : http://brickset.com/article/17688/2016-sets-to-be-released-on-december-1st "Meanwhile, in the UK we have learnt from a reliable source that LEGO stores are intending to put City, Star Wars, Friends, Technic and Disney Princess sets out on the 26th of December while Duplo, Juniors, Nexo Knights, Ninjago, BIONICLE and others will be kept for the 1st of January. It is unknown whether or not a release in the US would alter their plans, although it seems likely. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Oh poot. No Nexo Knights for a while then. Ah well. Maybe that means there will be time for a good clear-out at the supermarkets, the summer waves always suffer from older stock not shifting and it takes a long while for the new sets to get in. Whereas Christmas and the UK's good old fashioned Boxing Day sales means the toy aisles are nicely empty for new shinys! Quote

If you don't want your children to play with what you perceive to be demons, then don't purchase them. There's no need to try to force your feelings on others and demand that LEGO stop selling them to everyone else. Edited November 18, 2015 by x105Black Quote
