Nice to see you back Nabii. With official pics being released and all can you share some design info? I'm particularly interested in how the Chaos Chariot and Mech Horse were developed, but really anything about sets or figures would be great to hear about.

I will be at the 'Brick' event in London this weekend with some behind the scenes Nexo Knights stuff. I'll be giving a presentation about work, including Nexo Knights information too. I'm sure some of it will end up online.

Edit: Santa places his order in August. At that point Nexo Knights was secret even from him. ☺

I noticed that the smallest boxed sets are rated "7-14", which is higher than other theme's age ratings.

Is the target audience different? probably not, because the TV show's humour is a bit...

kinda...

juvenile.

This post is more about the age ratings of the sets, and less about the TV show, okay moderators.

Really, that's more or less the same age range as most Legends of Chima and Ninjago sets. The only Chima sets that dipped below that age range were the polybags and buildable figures, and the only Ninjago sets that dip below that age range are "battle packs" and sets priced at $10 or lower (spinners, fliers, booster packs, polybags, and impulse sets). Though next year is introducing the first Ninjago-themed Juniors sets, aimed at ages 4–7.

Likewise, the Legends of Chima and Ninjago TV series both had a US TV rating of "Y7-FV" for fantasy violence; we can probably safely assume the rating for the Nexo Knights TV series will be the same. It's also worth noting that a lot of kids' TV series start out really silly and become more serious later on. Examples: Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Adventure Time, etc. And teasers and commercials for kids' movies and TV series frequently focus on the silliest or cheesiest parts of them.

Gravity Falls always had that vague mysterious tone to it that would later become its primary theme, despite its goofiness in the first few episodes. You're right about SU, though. It was hard to get through the first few episodes for me, since I despise silliness. I really only fell in love with the program after the cat episode when it showed the first signs that the silliness was merely the veneer atop a dark mahogany throne.

I highly doubt a toy-driven TV program could compare to either of those programs, however. It takes a lot to get me interested in a cartoon.

Anyways this is more a discussion for the Nexo Knights' TV show topic.

The mini for tree review was nice. I don't think I will get any of the knight polybags, though, as both the knight and Robin lack their signature armour pieces... and I also don't particularly care for the Knight sides' figures. The generic knights themselves could be useful, but not without their armour, imo.

7-14 is usually a guide for who it will appeal to, thematically and in terms of the complexity of the build. There are mechanisms more complicated than a flick-fire, moderate fantasy violence that would probably be kept out of reach of the under 7's and the sort of media interaction that would appeal to older children, but frustrate those younger children.

Of course, it is only a guide and one anyone, Parent or child or AFOL can ignore. It also works as insurance, if a parent is calling to complain that their four year old is having trouble with the set then the rep can easily point to the age guide. Just the same as if someone complains about the fighting being too scary for a smaller child can be reminded that it was recommended for over 7's.

Edit: Santa places his order in August. At that point Nexo Knights was secret even from him. ☺

True, but Santa is semi-retired so he has a lot of free time on his hands in the summer.

He's not like NEXO SANTA! Nexo Santa shows up at 3am on New Year's Day is his rocket powered sled pulled by his two cyborg reindeer Crockett and Tubbs. Rapelling head first down the chimney Mission Impossible style, he sneaks into the children's bedrooms only to wake them up with a massive guitar rift. Then, pulling out his electro candy cane nunchucks, he wacks a piece of coal and it miraculously turns into whatever the kid wants most in the world!

Most of us think Nexo Santa is great, but some Christmas purists nail plywood boards across their fireplaces so he can't get in. They annoyingly tell all who'll listen how much they dislike everything about him because he's not exactly the same as the St. Nick from the 1950s Coca Cola adverts. That is except for his giant skull & antler belt buckle that, while not in the classic yuletide aesthetic, they'll accept because it looks historic to them.

I thought it was because Nexo Santa, blows a hole through your wall, wakes up everyone in the neighborhood with his explosions and loud music and tramples on anything old fashioned, but hey at least he delivered gifts.

Down with Nexo Santa!

you're right. Down with Nexo-Santa. Down all the chimneys, that it! Nexo-Santa is an amazing novel piece of creative genius and your chimney will be boarded up which means the fireplace can't be on, and so you'll be cold all winter.

Boom. :sweet:

I love NK minifigs. The vilains, the knights, the minions, the bots, the balls... But because of their plastic blue armor and their sunburn orange face, I really dislike this royal soldiers. In fact I don't remember a (recent) minifigs I dislike more...
