ChristopheQ Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) Don't know if this has been mentioned, but it turns out Flama is male. Interesting, thank you. But ... I love female vilain. I was very proud of Lego making 3 of them. Plus now he is even more similar to (Fantastic 4) Human Torch and UA Infearno. Edited January 3, 2016 by ChristopheQ Quote
Ardelon Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Huh. It took me some getting used to seeing Flama as female, now it will take some getting used to the reverse. Whatever the gender, its shaping up to be my 2nd favorite fig of the theme - behind Moltor, who wins by a landslide over anyone else. As for the cap debate, Im kind of glad they didnt waste a mold for the jester cap, partly since the current one is more useful for a jester in general (though this is kind of moot, as I wont be shelling out the moeny for his set just for the minifig), but mostly because it frees up resources for entirely new elements. Its all about the priorities. Quote

Aanchir Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) Don't know if this has been mentioned, but it turns out Flama is male. Forgive for my ignorance but who is Flama?? This is Flama. I don't know what the new source for Flama's gender is, but when Flama's bio was still listed on the monster map on the Nexo Knights website, it unambiguously referred to him/her as female (that bio is still there if you view the page source). "The fight in the Hill Country Villages is the hottest battle around. Not only is it taking place on the very edge of Lava Land, Jestro’s monster armies are joined by the scorching Flama. She is made of molten lava and will light a fire under my knights. I hope they can stick together and help each other cool this overheated lady down." The design is fairly ambiguous, so I think I'll need more clarification on where this new info is coming from. It's not like LEGO has never misidentified a character's gender on their website, but this isn't just a case of an incorrect pronoun. The person writing Flama's bio for the website obviously was strongly under the impression that the character was female. Edited January 3, 2016 by Aanchir Quote
Boogly22238 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Forgive me for my ignorance but who is Flama?? Flama is another lava monster dude who's coming in the summer wave http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/nexo-knights/images/a/a2/Flama_from_website.png/revision/latest?cb=20151106161447 Quote

Karateduo1 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 After examining the source code I came across a line from the map that read: On the edge of the northern provinces my knights must face a real hard-hitter. Jestro and the Book of Monsters have brought out the rock monster Mouldron and he packs a punishing punch in his boulder fists. Then I recalled the image in the source code that Aanchir hyperlinked to. I remember I was talking to a contact that when I inquired him about if there were, "any other large lava monsters like Infernox in the Summer wave?" He responded with, "I believe there's a big red one, don't know his name but he's there somewhere." Noting that the monster Flama is riding is red I would say they are the same. Also since he has the boulder fists in the source description, I think we can assume his name is, "Mouldron". Quote
Pulp Detective Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Thanks guys!!! Flama is by far one of the best looking villains on the whole line. And knowing that he(or she) will be included on the summer wave makes the wait for the Toyfair even more painfull!!! Quote

Also since he has the boulder fists in the source description, I think we can assume his name is, "Mouldron". A "big red monster" could just as easily refer to Burnsie, who is closer to the same size as Sparkks (the lava monster pulling Jestro's evil mobile) and has appeared in the TV series and animated shorts. Which isn't to say that that's the monster they were referring to, but we still might get one, the other, or both. Quote
8BrickMario Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I think Flama is probably female. Just to have another, and "a" is usually a feminine suffix. I'd expect Flamor or something similar if it were a male. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 What ever gender Flama ends up being, it really doesn't matter, it looks like it could be both. I'm just glad we're getting Flama. Quote

Chilly_Productions Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) If you want the current version of Jestro I'd get it now, because I don't think it'll be appearing in the Summer wave. Aanchir Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Seriously though, LEGO is either very lazy (Using Ezra's head on Ant-man), or way too extreme (Nexo Knights moulds). You can't predict LEGO. I don't think that's entirely a fair comparison. For starters, one's talking about molds and the other's talking about prints. When it comes to molds, LEGO introduced two very complex new helmet molds in the one Ant Man set they've done, neither of which has been used since, so I don't think there's anything "lazy" about the way they approached that. Presumably they only used older face prints for the Ant-Man set because they had face prints they thought were a good fit. No point introducing brand-new face prints you won't use again when there are ones already in production that will work just fine. Not doing new face prints probably freed that set's budget for new printed parts up for things that matter more, like the wing patterns of the ants or the costumes of the three minifigures. The Nexo Knights characters do get a lot of new molds AND new prints, but many of those are parts that are going to appear multiple times across multiple sets (and in the case of the knights' face prints, probably for multiple years). By contrast, other than the reused faces, none of the minifigure parts from the Ant-Man set have shown up again. Quote

Rayskull Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 BTW I think Choas Catapult is an excellent troop builder, you get a knight and baddie and a catapult, all of which could be multiples Quote

DraikNova Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 LEGO's first transgender character? That's definitely notable! Nexo Knights is more important than I thought. Considering that every spider in Bionicle we've gotten lacks pedipalps yet has been referred to as male, Flama wouldn't be the first. To be honest though, I think it's probably just the app giving Flama the wrong gender. Wouldn't be the first time. Quote
