*snip* (lots and lots of minifigs)

32 because of Infernox.

I'm very happy how every single villain character is visually and aesthetically unique (excluding Scurriers and Globlins) unlike Ninjago's offering last year.

Also, I just got the App today. What exactly do the quests do once you've scanned the necessary shields?

You get like 5000 memory bits or something, I dunno.

Someone please tell me that there are more than three new lava monsters. Please?

There are four. Burnzie, Flama, Whiparella, and General Magmar. Might also be new Scurrier or Globlin variants, who knows?

I was only counting the human-sized lava monsters, not the golems.

Speaking of which...

Maybe the golem that Flama rides on will show up in the exclusive set. Maybe Infernox doesn't appear on the bio page because he's exclusive, and that's why this guy isn't listed either?

The big guy (Burnzie?) looks really nice. He's like a really big Scurrier! And he has a disk launcher hand!

The rest are pretty sweet too. Yay for more female characters! And hot ones at that!

... I'm sorry.

That pretty much confirms Flama as a girl. I cant wait for all the female villians.

Also looking forward to Axls tower transport im guessing it will be pretty big given it has him in it plus being a transport and all.

Not Liking Sparkks, but still wanting Burnzie to be with his buddy on my display, I will probably give him a Moltor body, with small wings on his back. Would be cute to do this to Brunzie huge head as well :classic:

For Axl big Vehicle, wander if they will add a horse-hover there, or in a separate set, or not at all...

one more Ultimate Aaron and Macy review focusing on parts with some nice photos :

J2G claims that Jestro's Volcano Base includes a black and red Jestro, Lavaria, 3 other baddies, Axl, and Lance.

That Jestro sounds nice. We'll have to wait and see if he compares to my favorites, Moltor and Ash Attacker.

This is Flama. I don't know what the new source for Flama's gender is, but when Flama's bio was still listed on the monster map on the Nexo Knights website, it unambiguously referred to him/her as female (that bio is still there if you view the page source). "The fight in the Hill Country Villages is the hottest battle around. Not only is it taking place on the very edge of Lava Land, Jestro’s monster armies are joined by the scorching Flama. She is made of molten lava and will light a fire under my knights. I hope they can stick together and help each other cool this overheated lady down."

The design is fairly ambiguous, so I think I'll need more clarification on where this new info is coming from. It's not like LEGO has never misidentified a character's gender on their website, but this isn't just a case of an incorrect pronoun. The person writing Flama's bio for the website obviously was strongly under the impression that the character was female.

I'm sticking with the theory that Flama is actually both genders. The ambiguousness, intentional. It's LEGO's first hermaphrodite character, they are being progressive with this theme.

The General looks great, I hope that helmet gets a top half later on like the ultron 2 piece helmet.

That would be nice. Until then, we should be happy that he has the new plume / ponytail piece in black.

We have 31 Minifigures now, If you count the Scurriers and bots.

You're also counting the large monsters, a book, and a flat hologram as minifigures. As someone mentioned, you left one out, so we have 32 characters, but only 19 minifigure characters. I'm not sure I'd even count Axl, so maybe 18, or 18.5? Some minifigure characters have alternate versions (in the Ultimates), and additional versions of some minifigures are forthcoming (like the Lavaria and Jestro we've heard about).

I actually just now noticed that the "ultimate" versions of both Beast Master and Lavaria are different from their regular versions. The regular version of Beast Master has straps around his knees, the Ultimate version has kneepads shaped like Globlins. The regular version of Lavaria hasn't appeared in sets yet, but judging from the website she wears black armor similar to the Ultimate version, but without all the glowing cracks running through it and her torso. The regular version is probably what will be appearing in the summer sets.

Based on these observations, maybe the "inconsistencies" between the "set version" of Flama on the character page and the animation screenshots and app version of Flama have to do with the yellow-orange version being the Ultimate version! That would also explain why in the animation screenshots and app she doesn't have shoulder armor — because she would have a neck bracket to attach accessories to her back instead. If that's true, then the yellow-orange version isn't an inconsistency with the sets, it's just based on a different version of the character. :classic:

This also leads me to wonder if there's a second version of General Magmar. Have we seen any pics of him that look different than the "set version" on his character page?

What's the point exactly of counting only minifig characters? If it's posability that matters to you, the bots have the same posability as a normal minifigure, while a Scurrier has two out of the seven points, If it's about the amount of plastic, it's about two bots or one Scurrier and a globlin to a fig, while Axl is effectively two minifigures. Customizability wise, the Scurriers are pretty poor, allowing only for swapping of horns (two points compared to a minifigures eleven or so) and maybe adding something to their heads, while the bots have ten.

Oh, I hope you're right. An orange Flama would be great, while the reddish one would be in the sets. She doesn't look like an Ultimate base figure, either, so you might be on to something!
