omegabob Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 It's coming out January 2016, so the set leaks should start to pop up around July or August. Excellent! I'm glad it's going to be sooner than later but it is still a while to go before getting too excited. I do hope for the best if this turns out to be a castle themed line but I know better than to hold my breath this far out. Quote
Ardelon Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 It might be a Heroica theme? Still a fantasy Castle fantasy theme, with characters based on the character classes, etc... Quote
Kretnica Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Recently a rumor popped up that I would like to report here. Apparently, the guy who worked on the Legends of Chima TV show is now working on a new show for Lego. Could this be for Castle? It can't be Star Wars, City, Ninjago, Bionicle,or Super Heroes, and they all have either a TV show, movie series, or MMOG dedicated to them. The only other possibilities I can think of are Scooby-Doo or an entirely new theme. Could be Scooby-Doo. That theme is getting a 22-minute animated feature with the release, as well as made-for-video titles that will be released in the coming years. Maybe a tv show as well? Scooby is definitely better suited for a tv show than Castle. Quote

Venkefedo Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 So if this new line is going to be something Castle related it will have characters (but hopefully not Rainbow Knights), it will have playsets (which most of the Ninjago and Chima buildings were pretty good for their theme) and it will have vehicles (although these may take on a more steampunk or World of Warcraft look instead of a too futuristic look). That's just my opinion and speculation. It will probably be close to a year before we get any solid news or prelims on this, so there is no point getting too excited or worked up at this point. I'd be fine with that; I like the idea of Heroica-style, perhaps, with different classes of heroes rather than just "knights/soldiers with various weapons". If they take some cues from guys like Nuju Metru with the playsets, even if large structures aren't used (his little magic-launching boulders and such are pretty great! So are the dragons and whatnot, too, of course), we could see a lot of fun stuff without just resorting to Speedorz and/or other weird vehicles too much--tho steampunk/WoW-style vehicles wouldn't bug me much at all (I did get many of the MegaBloks WoW sets...I still wanna rebuild the Horde Demolisher with actual Lego). Plus we might even get to see siege weapons beyond the standard catapults! How about ballista? A trebuchet tower? A Grond-style battering ram suspended in a wheeled rig with some trolls or ogres pushing it? A siege tower? No zombies, tho... unless their torsos and legs are fully clothed/armored. The torn flesh & exposed bones of so many of the ice tribe warriors bothers me so much! Some fantastic prints weakened tremendously by a patch of exposed muscle or bone...and the mammoths with their bone trunks?! But I digress... a Castle series with specific characters could be a lot of fun. Maybe one of the heroes could be a dwarf! Quote
Artanis I Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Yes, obviously. But what good does that do us? More money in our wallets for Bricklink projects. Quote
SirBlake Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 More money in our wallets for Bricklink projects. That's not nearly the commodity that new, good parts and prints would be. Quote
Artanis I Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 That's not nearly the commodity that new, good parts and prints would be. Well I, for one, am never finished when it comes to stuff I started years ago. And every new release & idea delays it all further. Quote

Well, you've got at least a year off to save up. Most of us want some new good stuff, not an involuntary savings plan. Quote

They could be related, although they might not be. In the meantime, I'll just post this here as it falls in line with some things we've heard (And also things I've heard that I can't share). BearHeart Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 http://brickset.com/...s-week#comments Not sure if this is Castle related but the wizard (presumably Gandalf) does suggest something from medieval fantasy. Quote
omegabob Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 http://brickset.com/...s-week#comments Not sure if this is Castle related but the wizard (presumably Gandalf) does suggest something from medieval fantasy. The other image that is linked in the story has what seems to be a City type minifig in front of the blue portal. This could be related to the new game and imply that it could be a cross theme thing like Universe was. Just guessing though. We'll find out on Thursday. Quote
Robert8 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Not sure if this is Castle related but the wizard (presumably Gandalf) does suggest something from medieval fantasy. Apparently, it's a teaser for LEGO Dimensions. There are 3 pics so far: that one, Wyldstyle and Batman Quote
Dragonlego27 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 There has been an official announcement about Dimensions and although it does include Gandalf, Legolas, Gollum and Gimli so far there is nothing from Castle Quote
Blakstone Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 For Tolkien fans like me, this is the only "new" minifigs we have to look forward to, but we will have to pay a premium for them. I also want a good Castle theme next year. I suspect that Dimensions might expand in 2016 to include the new Castle line. But if I wasn't get new, desired figures in the game expansions, I would just buy the sets. Quote

I know very little about the game play for Skylander and Infinity but I don't think they are MMOs. And I really doubt they are going to do a TV series about Dimensions as it seems to me that would take away from the game play (and game related purchases). Quote

I game and TV show I am talking about are not related to Dimensions. Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Y'know what would be great? A castle theme spanning 6 or 7 years, each year having a couple of factions and rotating through them, and by the end of the theme each faction could've been in several waves. Quote

Everyday I get excited when I see there are new posts, then I get disappointed as I see only wishes and wishlists. Come on! Someone find something!!!! It's only April! Leak season doesn't usually start until August, so I wouldn't expect too much. I recently learned that the info I got is in fact correct, so it's only a matter of waiting. What would you rather do, wonder if Lego is going to ever make new sets, or just wait a few months for them to come out? Edited April 13, 2015 by BrickJagger Quote

The Chosen Minifigure Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Find something, huh? Well, yesterday I found a crusader shield in a box of never seen before, with a bunch of vintage pieces. The only other piece of nite was a horse, but more LEGO is always good. Quote
