BrickFit26 Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 We have way more pictures of The Black Knight Mech now: http://brickset.com/...ack-Knight-Mech Actually looks a lot better from some angles. Definitely looks better. Too bad Whiperealla's tail doesn't have any printing by the looks of it. Quote
Rayskull Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I like it, one of the better Mechs, but kings Mech feels so much more inspired to me, would like to miniaturize it. Well see. Quote
Colossus Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 My kids have been using the medieval village as an environment to stage battles. As a result, I've had to beef up my population of globlins so they look more like an intimidating horde of baddies rather than an evil pet rock collection. Quote
Mr Greeble Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I finally got Merlok's Library today! :sweet: Quote
TPLSTER21 Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 A bit late to the party, but now that I have seen the Black Knight Mech I have to say that it is just...okay. The price-point, piece count and minifig selection is good and you do get multiple builds in the set. It reminds me of Master Wu's Dragon from summer 2015. The mech looks to be largely uninteresting in that it appears not to have any play functions other than the shield missile. Neither of the 2-3 pics of the mech seem to show it in a way that looks good to me. I stand to be corrected and hope that it can "do other things" besides that. The legs look weird. It appears that the mech is wearing pants and appears to not have a knee bend. The "evil hover horse" is a cool build and the scenery piece is decent. Bottom line for me is that the builds do not exceed the sum of their parts. Quote

Thanks for sharing. I'd rather see it being 50€ or something, but it's not really a bad price. I might pick this up on discount, but it's already a very expensive year for me with Ninjago. I do intend on buying Ultimate Flama; many great pieces. Edited May 24, 2016 by Exetrius Quote
dannallcorn Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Spotted Aarons flyer, the siege machine, glob lobber and ultimate general magmar at my local TRU (UK) but no other sets so not sure if it was an error on their part or thats all they have at the moment. Also place holders for the new sets are on the lego shop....no preorders though :( the Black Knight is 39.99 on the UK page. Quote
NotMegalodon Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 They are all on S@H now (at least in the NL). Quote

AyliffeMakit Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Exclusive minifig revealed for that "Book of Knights" - it's Merlock 1.0! Personally I would've preferred someone a tad more interesting but eh, this works I guess. Quote

It has a classic/generic styling, which is not particularly good, yet not particularly bad for me. I really want that beard piece, though. Quote
TeriXeri Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 (edited) It's nice to add a Merlok minifig somewhere , I rather have a unique character then some reprint of an existing character. Edited May 25, 2016 by TeriXeri Quote
Aanchir Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 (edited) It has a classic/generic styling, which is not particularly good, yet not particularly bad for me. I really want that beard piece, though. The beard was used on Vitruvius from The LEGO Movie, so it's already available on BrickLink. But the price is kinda high ($2.63 minimum). Not sure if this will really have any chance of lowering it since I can't imagine a lot of people will buy a $20 book just to part out the exclusive minifigure. It does at least reassure us that the part is still in production, so it may show up again in the future, if you'd rather risk waiting. Edited May 25, 2016 by Aanchir Quote
Mr Greeble Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I realllly want to spray paint that figure gold... I need a physical Merlok Hologram fig. Quote
Japanbuilder Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I took the plunge on this line with 70310 and 70311 and I must say I am actually liking the theme more than I thought I would. Also I realized living in Japan these sets sell for much cheaper than even city sets. Whats up with that??? Anyone have any sense on how this series is doing sales-wise? I'd like to get a bit more into it but am afraid LEGO may discontinue it rather quickly if sales aren't up to snuff. Quote

While I don't have any sales numbers, it is my understanding that most Lego themes run at least three years so I wouldn't worry about them cancelling it any time soon. The hardcover Book of Monsters shows both Forest and Water monsters in addition to the Lava monsters so I would say we have at least two more planned years and then even more if the line is successful. Whiteagle Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 I think the line desperately needs some civilian buildings, if for no other reason than that they can be threatened by the bad guys in free play. It never fails that when me and my kids play NK; the first thing they ask me to do is to build them a house/farm/village for them to defend from my ravaging horde of lava monsters led by the CMF Jester. :) It's also a shame, because the Nexo Knights show has a lot of Civilian Infrastructure that could make for some nice sets. While a lot of it is the same generic Blue and Light Blue medieval checkered pattern style architecture copy and pasted over and over again, the Produce Cart/Food Vendor is practically a re-appearing background character in itself, plus there are the AWESOME Hover Horse-drawn Carriage TRAINS that seem to make up most of Knightonia's transportation. My kids have been using the medieval village as an environment to stage battles. As a result, I've had to beef up my population of globlins so they look more like an intimidating horde of baddies rather than an evil pet rock collection. Nice, I know the classic Castle lovers don't like Nexo, but this is exactly what makes Lego Mash-ups so great! We've reviewed The Glob Lobber! http://brickset.com/...the-glob-lobber Anyone else kinda mad the Glob Lobber doesn't have a Knightonia counterpart like the Chaos Catapult/Knighton Battle Blaster? I mean, it's sorta a Monster version of the Battle Blaster to begin with, what with being a Ballista-style siege weapon with a weaponized front... Am I just suppose to stock up on Knight's Cycle polybags? Quote
TeriXeri Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 (edited) Anyone else kinda mad the Glob Lobber doesn't have a Knightonia counterpart like the Chaos Catapult/Knighton Battle Blaster? I mean, it's sorta a Monster version of the Battle Blaster to begin with, what with being a Ballista-style siege weapon with a weaponized front... Am I just suppose to stock up on Knight's Cycle polybags? I think there are already too many vehicles. Beyond the hover horses (1 per knight) or big specialized knighton vehicle sets (1 per knight + 2 mech), some vehicles can split in multiples. And bigger sets come with more small knighton vehicles as well Fortrex has a small flyer and motorcycle, Jestro's lair has a flyer for Macy. If you have all sets from 2016 for example, and you only use 1 of each knight (even while there are 3-4 of each), plenty of vehicles to pilot for eventual knighton soldiers/bots. There's an actual Nexo Power called "Cloning" which you can pretend there being multiple knights tho I hope 2017 and onwards is mostly focused on knighton civilian structures and badguy (plant/water monster) infrastructure instead of giving each knight yet another small and large vehicle. Also quality over quanitity, I really would not like a second wave of hover horses or knight ultimate sets, not as soon as 2017 at least. Edited May 26, 2016 by TeriXeri Quote
makoy Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Merlock 1.0 isn't that bad... can totally fit something related to medieval village or castle... but I kinda like Merlock 2.0 in all gold. Quote

That beard piece was first released as a part of Vitruvius from TLM sets, so you can get it before they even release The Book Of Knights Merlock 1.0 isn't that bad... can totally fit something related to medieval village or castle... but I kinda like Merlock 2.0 in all gold. While he definitely looks like he would, I'm not sure about him fitting to Castle. To be honest, I'm still expecting him to have a jetpack under his cape and a plasma caster as a wizards staff Edited May 26, 2016 by Sorrelon Quote
