I'm a little confused - what are you "Woohoo"ing about? It seems like you are cheering that Elves are confirmed....but they aren't.

Hope for regular castle not elves, goblins etc.

This theme needs to be fantasy.

Regular castle will be boring to many fantasy folks since it rarely offers anything new.

If it ends up being fantasy, we can all count on one human faction, which is good for the non-fantasy people as well.

There are plenty of existing factions for them to use already. Add elves, goblins and orcs to the mix and the fantasy fans will be happy, too, to get some new fantasy stuff after the gap that was left behind

by the LOTR theme. That would also be a chance to maybe get some versatility in orc & goblin designs, since they kinda neglected that with the LOTR theme, especially with Mordor orcs,

as well as perhaps some dwarf and elf warriors and anything else that they can come up with.

That's pretty much exactly how I feel. Any dwarves, elves, and humans will be yellow so they will take a little modifying to fit in with the LotR or Hobbit theme, but that's fine. It's pretty easy to find flesh heads and hands. We could get lots of new hair, beard, helmet, torso, and leg prints to supplement existing Castle OR LotR themes. Any orcs or goblins could easily fit in with existing LotR figures without the need for any modifying considering their skin color.

I just hope the figures are a little more detailed. The Moria Orcs look so much more detailed compared to the S13 CMF Goblin, to the point I don't even want to mix them.

My gut tells me if we get elves, they will be somewhere between the Forest Elves from LotR and Lego Forest Men from the 80's/90's.

I wouldn't mind if they took the tabletop gaming approach to creating the different models within a faction.

But there is no "news" yet...everything is still all speculation at this point. Finding details within other Lego lines that could maybe have a correlation in a future Castle line (that hasn't even been officially confirmed yet) isn't news, it's just fan speculation.

I hope we get elves in the next Castle line too, but I'm not going to celebrate until we've got something of substance that suggests or confirms Elves. We just don't have that yet.

I second theTang22 on this one. Back in 2009, the forum was buzzing with "news" about elves as well. In fact, we had a box art that featured elven ears so it was safe to assume they were coming except.... a couple months later..... Lord of the Rings blew the entire theme of Lego inspired elves away. Lego never recovered after that. It was wave after wave of Lord of the Rings, leaving Lego Castle back in its infancy again. The subsequent waves would lack the creative elements, figures, and molds found from Lego Castle in 2007. We all hope for elves and Lego definitely has the molds for them - I just wish they would start to use them for Lego Castle.

Elves are on the shelves. I don't think Lego will release a second Elf-line (even if it's in a different theme) while the previous one is still on (and is a theme on itself).

Of course, that's inevitable. Half the people in this thread want a return to the fantasy theme while the others want a more classic castle theme or faction (like Forestmen, Black Falcons, etc.). Lego can't make everyone happy.

Since Grumpy Sparrows was announced today, I think that it's likely that we'll at least get official confirmation soon (and maybe a release date as well).

Regarding the fear of this line being botched, as long as it's not mini-dolls, I'm okay with it. I don't think that this line will be as kiddy as the last one because Lotr is gone, but I also don't think it will be "dark" or realistic. Probably something like Ultra Agents: Not too childish but not too adult-oriented.

You could have Black Falcons, etc., in a fantasy setting.

I know, but I don't think it very likely of Lego. They don't seem big on bringing back past factions, much less mixing them with other factions and settings. Plus that was just an example of totally different things people in this thread want. You also have some wanting more civilian themed sets like MMV, some wanting different castles, some wanting more advanced building techniques, etc.
