DuckBricks Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 I forsee CCBS renditions of the "Ultimate" characters. To me, as a CCBS MOCcer, this spells out "more CCBS elements loot!" so I am very happy with this. (Also, CCBS Knight's Kingdom ;) ) EDIT: Mods - Does this topic belong in Action and Adventure? I'll take back what I said about the Ultimate characters being CCBS. I'm expecting something more like the Chima Legend beasts, utilizing the Mixels joints, at that price point ($10). Quote
Rob1321 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Thanks for the correction. Excited to see the sets. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Could we see these type of ultra builds for the ultimate characters sets? http://lego.brickinstructions.com/08000/8786/002.jpg Quote
thetang22 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Could we see these type of ultra builds for the ultimate characters sets? http://lego.brickinstructions.com/08000/8786/002.jpg That's what people are referring to CCBS....which it seems to be a pretty popular thought. Due to the excess of those style sets recently, I'd tend to believe this is the plan too. Quote
Etzel Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Disc Launchers, Robo Horse, Blade cruiser... Please let there be good minifigs at least! Quote
Lord Insanity Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Well Blade Cruiser could be a boat. Please be an awesome boat like the Elves boat but in browns and grays. Just going by the names this could either be really good or really bad. I will have to agree that this sounds like an in house Masters of the Universe styled theme. If it is done well that could be awesome. One thing that always seems to go wrong with Masters of the Universe copycats is they miss the ratio of "swords and sorcery" (80%) to "sci-fi" (20%). The main hero (He-Man) and the main villain (Skeletor) could easily be in a pure swords and sorcery setting. If Nexo Knights fits that general aesthetic it could be epic. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 ^Good point. These do come off as higher amount of sci-fi than medieval setting. So well will see what happens. I'm hoping for new figures/weapons/cool pieces in useful colors... And naturally I hope the sets themselves look decent to justify buying it. Quote
Cagast Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Alright, we can forget castle. I loved KK2. But this will be nothing like KK. I see why most of you think KK2 is not a normal castle theme, with colorful kngihts and all. But there is no reason to think this is KK3 (I know you don't mean it literally). KK2 did not have anything close to robotic horses and stuff. It was clean historic theme. Quote
Naijel Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Cagast - except for the Grand Tournament that had the terrible fake horses with wheels. Quote

Robert8 Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I think we all need to calm down This is the first time ever we are getting a Castle/Adventure/Sci-Fi theme so let's wait until official pics are released to make a judgment. Of course it won't be a purist Castle theme or Space theme but it may be cool Quote

Of course it won't be a purist Castle theme or Space theme but it may be cool I think jestro will look like your avatar Robert8. The set name is called jestros darkness or something like that and he seems to be mean. So an evil jester, or he might even be half robot, half regular human. That would be cool. Quote

The "Jestro" name makes me think on this guy: It'd be awesome if a LEGO designer could sneak that design, or a very close variant into this theme. We're already getting a very close imitation of the Bone Suit with the Monsters Minifigures... Quote
Artanis I Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 When I buy into Castle Lego themes, I don't purchase them based on how they exist as a lone theme or product...I buy them with the intention of incorporating with my existing collection....creating a unified Castle theme from across the generations. If this product leans too much into sci-if elements, it will have no place with my existing collection...resulting in a no-buy. I feel the same way, and did so regarding Space Police 3, but I ended up getting the whole theme anyway. And then Alien Conquest & Galaxy Squad. They don't fit in with my other space themes, and I'd rather that they had. I get the feeling that even if this is too far removed from all of my castles & knights, I will still pay up. But I don't want any spinners/speedors etc. Quote

Alcarin Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) I wouldn't be so quick to discredit brickjagger. I would accuse him of being overly enthusiastic about trying to claim validation before it's due...but not flat out being wrong. His original source said a new Castle theme in late 2015/early 2016....kinda like the Fantasy Era. Now, those are supposedly the words of his original source. He's spoken to a few sources in the 6 months since then, and there has been a bit of conflicting info here and there, but for the most part, his original source was "correct enough". Saying he was a bust because he called it a slightly different type of set than what you would today, or because he didn't have an exact release month...its really just an argument in semantics, which is kinda useless for release rumors of products not coming out for a year+. For instance, you say it's more of an action theme than a Castle theme. Ok...that's one interpretation. Is it a Castle theme with heavy "action" elements, or an Action theme with heavy "castle" elements? The answer - it really doesn't matter, in terms of trying to validate rumors from a year+ out. Those 2 distinctions are basically the same thing, for arguments sake. And when you are going off of what a guy told another guy a year+ out...it's close enough. Releasing late 2015/early 2016 - close enough. Well to me Castle theme means CASTLE, you know Kingdoms or Dungeon/Dragon knights type of series of sets, when ACTION theme to me means Ninjago/Chima so loads of action regarding of the theme mixed inside (let it be Ninjas, Castle, or whatever) When someone says Castle theme, my first thought goes to Medieval Market Village really, this , to me is the epitome of a perfect Castle set for adult display lovers of Castle theme. And you question is pretty easy to answer for me: Its action theme with castle elements IF action (cartoon support) is its main selling point (like Chima/Ninjago) And its Castle theme with action elements if Castle theme is its main selling point (Kingdoms for example) and not action. Sure action is a part of Castle theme regardless how we turn it, but its still a huge difference to me, if action is there because there are warriors, knights, barbarians, or because its shoved down our throats like Ninjago/Chima. its a big big difference for my wallet :P Edited August 7, 2015 by Alcarin Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I'm sure it will be too sci-fi-ish for the castle builders to like the them, and too castle-ish for sci-fi builders to like it!... Luckily for TLG, there are still the action and adventure builders Quote
ootkaman Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) Like others have said, I'm waiting to see pictures to fully decide how I feel. That being said, I was also really hoping for classic castle including more rural settings, and even perhaps some Forest Men or Dark Forest-esque sets again. I don't know if that would sell as well as NInjago or Chima-like sets nowadays, but recapturing the magic of a good castle set would get a lot of people excited for sure. What I think would be a good move if you wanted to go that route would be to have some sets in a line that were purely castle, and then others that showed steampunk or tech or whatever that matched the line, and you could combine these sets to make the storyline work with that theme. A lot to ask for, but that way you could appeal to both groups Edited August 7, 2015 by ootkaman Quote
Isundir Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) So the theme is called Nexo Knights? 70130 Knighton Disc Launchers 70311 Chaos Catapult 70313 Moltor's Lava Launcher 70312 Lance's Robo Horse (heeere we go..) 70315 Clay's Blade Cruiser 70316 Jestro's Companions of Darkness 70330 Ultimate Clay - assuming these are figure packs, all are EUR 9.99 70331 Ultimate Macy 70332 Ultimate Aaron 70333 Ultimate Robin 70334 Ultimate Monster Masher 70335 Ultimate Lavaria Now where is that mobile fortress... Based of cringe worthy names alone I'm crying right now My first Castle (but not really Castle) theme in 15 years Me too! You are not alone! I'll give KK2 this, it had cool villains Vladek and his Scorpion guys, if this has cool Villains then at least that's something. I just really don't want another series of Power Rangers meets Knights like KK2 and same thing happened with Ninjago but Ninja's instead. Edited August 7, 2015 by Isundir Quote
Laphroag Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 My biggest concern is not the potential mix of "classic" castle and sci-fi, because that can result in some cool parts, colors and designs. But it might seem that it's only vehicles and figure packs. Something which i personally have zero interest in as I already have too many Uruk-hai ballistas Quote

ZCerberus Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Lots of freak outs here. MOCers will wait and see. Sorry if I'm too calm about it all. Quote
thetang22 Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Well to me Castle theme means...... I apologize if my original point wasn't clear. However, your response pretty much proves the point I was trying to make: Well to me Castle theme means CASTLE And you question is pretty easy to answer for me Sure action is a part of Castle theme regardless how we turn it, but its still a huge difference to me The point being...you shouldn't dismiss his rumor as a bust, as the details are open to a certain degree of interpretation. At this point, people still aren't even sure what to make of the details... Is it Castle? Is it Sci-fi? Is it Steam-punk? Is it "Action"? Is it some mix of them? Imagine trying to describe that 6+ months ago when there was even less information to go off of. We'll have to wait and see for confirmation one way or the other, but my opinion is that his original source has yet to be debunked, but it's rather just a circumstance of interpreting things differently.
