Yep, I'm the one in the printing industry. Producing hundreds (if not thousands) of individual magazines that are all entirely unique is a ridiculously expensive thing to do, and I highly doubt Lego would feel the benefit would outweigh the cost.

Would it be possible to ask a ToysRus employee to see the catalog? I mean is there a chance they'd show a random customer?

Go for it. What's the worst that can happen? :classic:

I was planning to do that as well.

I don't think TRU has the catalog.

My store manager told me they did. He said they usually get it around this time so they can choose which products to put on the shelves.

Is that so? I'll have to go soon, then. Maybe pick up a WALL-E at the same time.

I applaud the "outside the box thinking" on how to get set info. However, the likelihood of you being successful is pretty much zero. Yes, TRU would get a retailer catalog just like any other retailer and places orders from Lego just like any other retailer but on a much larger scale. But, unlike other smaller retailers, TRU has a purchasing department that is based in their head office or their regional headquarters - not in their retail stores. So, this is pretty much a waste of time unless you know someone who works in their head office or in corporate and who is in the merchandising/purchasing division.

At this point, I just wish the forum members who are in the know would just spill the beans and tell us what they have seen. It would make this thread much better and end the pages and pages of discussion that seem to involve everything but the sets themselves.

Agreed, I'm tired of the stupid hints.

I third that. Can we not do this next year? Would it kill J2G and co. to keep silent and then give us an info-dump when they're allowed to? I feel like it would make the discussion ten times more productive an d on-topic, not to mention, less maddening.

Woulda saved us a few pages of dumb and worthless speculation. :sceptic:

There's really nothing to discuss. We've just gotta wait for pictures/good descriptions.

Both of those logos are stylized in the same way, as they are shiny, jagged types with swords and shields. You're being a little picky there.

Seriously? You can't tell the *vast* difference between these? I can't believe what I just read.

^ J2G said next week. :classic:

If Just2Good said more info is coming next week (i.e. this upcoming week?) then that's good enough for me. I'd love to see pics, but at this point, set descriptions will do just fine. Let's see what the next few days bring!

I just want to have nice things like the other forums!! Is that so wrong?!! LOL!

Well, not only would that be totally against TLG's wishes, it would get a whole bunch of people in trouble. Especially since this year, they have specific watermarks for the confidential notice per store, so it could be tracked right back to the person who uploaded it.

No no no, I'm not saying that any of the store managers should post the pictures, I'm saying if TLG has the pictures they themselves should post them online already and I don't understand why they wouldn't.

I think part of the reason is to prevent copycat companies to make cheap knockoff copies of their stuff. Gives them time to do so before the final sets are released. The random Dutch/Sweden/etc toy shops online we usually find the prelims on aren't allowed to post the prelim photos (if they even have them)

I think.

But those copycat companies will do that anyway right? I don't know seems kind of like a weak reason to me.

The reason is Marketing. There is a whole science behind the concept, meant to help deliver the biggest return on the investment. Reveal too early and the hype will lessen by the time of actual release. People may disagree with that (like us eager AFOL's) but it's a proven formula.

Maybe we should rename the tread to Nexo Knights - discussion and rumors ?

You didn't learn anything from jumping the gun in this thread already? We'll change it when it is appropriate, don't worry.

A few facts for this thread! (Because it's seriously lacking in them :P )

First, from early in this threads speculation; the LEGO Legends of Chima range had absolutely nothing to do with the return of the Thundercats TV show. Although several of us remembered the show from our childhoods it was never the basis for the theme and the Chima theme was well into development when we found out it was returning. This worried us, fortunately it wasn't very good and most kids didn't see it or draw any parallels. We probably drew more inspiration from Fabuland than the original Thundercats!

Second, just to clear things up, it has been revealed on several occasions that around 5 to 10 percent of sales (depending on theme) are bought for adults. As an AFOL we are hugely outnumbered by kid fans, though as customers we will (generally) spend more in a year and over a period of more years then most kids. Thus the adult sets are made to cater for us, and I would speculate, are likely to continue being made.

Third, if a theme is marked 5 and up it is obviously designed for younger kids, it will be more basic in structure and building style (it's actually very difficult to design for 5 year olds and under) and probably hit only the iconic aspects of that concept. (See the latest Castle and Pirate lines). If the sets are marked 7 and up they will be more complex both in story and building style, probably appealing slightly more to AFOLs. Sets marked older are pretty complex, almost AFOL sets, enjoy them!

Can't comment on the rest, and as you noticed none of my facts are really 'historic' related, sorry about that! I will be able to talk about January sets (whatever they may be) from either 15th November or 1st December (I need to check) - I'm sure by then you guys will have figured out a way to know one way or another if this theme exists or not. Until then, cheers.
