The kid is good :)

And you had to spend a fortune to get all this pieces to assemble this army.

Thanks I'll be sure to tell him when he's back from school!

Actually not as bad as you'd think - to start with I got a good deal on a bulk of elves - then selling the heads and the hands helped pay for the other bits... and it gets added to over time... and it just meant not spending money on other stuff instead!

That's the hard part  I would have one of the greatest Lego armies in the world if I focused only on a single project but since the reason I spend money for a hobby is to relax and have fun, variety is important to me. So I move from one project to another otherwise I get bored :classic:

Some people are consolidators (happy to do the same thing over and over) whilst others are expanders (need to be constantly doing new stuff)

Neither is better or worse... That's life!

Of course neither is better or worse  I was just describing my hobby attitudes :classic:

And I thought I have many elves.

This is unbelievable!

And now they have to change yellow into skin color. :p

If I'm not mistaken the flesh color is used for the "Licensed Themes", right?

Personally I have no problem with either the flesh or yellow color. As long as the Minifigure looks cool, it's fine for me :classic:

Heh - hoping that means I get a thumbs up then?

Of course. You have a very impressive army and the Minfigures do look cool so everything is fine

Here your thumbs up

Btw do you plan to expand your army further? Also let me know how you "table-top war-gaming rules" project goes. I'm very curious :classic:

Yeah sorry - the core troops have been exposed on their own for too long - been buggy at our Lego household - have all the models ready just need to find time to film and post them (and not get too distracted by other projects in the meantime!)

Don't worry. I too get distracted by several projects at once  Do you like only Wood Elves or do you some project regarding, just to use the classic Warhammer-like definition  , "High Elves"?

Btw I'll look forward your new stuff :classic:

Nah have loads of army plans... Just little things get In the way... Like time... and cash... and life!

It's so much easier to do wood elves... TLG don't seem to have the right torso/legs in the right colour combos for high elves - and forget about helmets for them (or the lack thereof!)

I suppose high elves could be customised, with a decal here and a lick of paint there... But that's not so easy for me as I'm just starting out in that area and have limited skills.

But there are so many other factions that can be made so much easier without customising that I'll end up going in other directions first!

Time, cash and life: the three things that always stand between us and our hobbies

High Elves in Warhammer style is indeed a very complex project. I was thinking more about something "loosely inspired by". Namely Elves without the "wood" part :classic:

There are surely other "easier to make" factions. Has anyone ever thought about using some "Chima headpieces" (I'm not a huge fan of them, though) to create some Lizardmen?

I know it wouldn't be very accurate but I'm very curious :classic:

I thought about High Elves a lot and its almost impossible if you look for making them white. For some reason, there is a distinct lack of parts with white/Silver combinations. One important step towards this was the CMF Greek battle Goddesses torso in white and gold, but this is only one part.

Lizardmen I would enjoy seeing. There are lizardmen heads by brickforge and lots of dinosaurs to make bigger units.

I know, making them in white is impossible. Let's hope in the future we'll get more white/silver parts :classic:

Regarding the Lizardmen: this year we'll get a lot of dinosaurs, they would be perfect as Lizardmen's mounts. After the mounts they get in Warhammer are de facto dinosaurs :classic:

I would add Wife as a fourth... but mine is lovely and lets me play (with my son's Lego!)

Nah - all we need is some ED-209 magic and either a friendly neighbourhood pad-printer guy/gal - or someone who's a dab hand at the old licky sticky decals and we'd be away! (apart from the helmets.... :sceptic:)

Can current decal-makers make decals that have real metallic paint on them? Also on legs?

Well I'm not married so... lol I just have a very special person and, of course, she is more important than any hobby but this is not a thing relevant to the topic :classic:

I'm sure some of them will be able to do it. Personally I'm not a fan of decals but I recognize there are circumstances where they can be very useful :classic:

Having said all that...

A LEGO ELVEN PRINCE

very nice work (again as usual) by Baron von Brick (hmm wonder if he's on here?)

That's very similar to what I was thinking about when I mentioned "High Elves". Great work, indeed :classic:

The Baron has some great Elves there, but the helmets are the one thing we need. You cannot make a true High Elven force without them.

  • Author

Do you hear that "Thrash"?

The people have spoken - we want High Elven helmets... and we want them soon! (I would say now but it's a bit aggressive...)

That's at least 4 people that will buy them... (and I bought over 200 of them for my last army!)

much love

D

That's crazy-awesome. Very impressive army!! And cute kid too

Some more golden high elves ---> http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=106617

I gave a quick look. They are nice, sadly a little "too much aggressive ads" on the pages he linked but overall and interesting army :classic:

+1 to the ad pages (perhaps we should encourage him to post in a more viewer friendly site?) but yes - definitely some good ideas there!
