Posted January 27, 201510 yr Hi, all, This is my first MOC and I'm trying to build a DT-54 tractor which is an old tractor made by soviet. Its production began in 1949 and lasted at least to 1979. It will be more or less like below, of course to meet the 4 PF functions requirement, I need to put a blade in the front and a ripper in the behind. Motorized functions: -drive 2xL motor -blade 1xM motor -ripper 1xM motor -power standard AA battery box Right now the chassis is half way completed and I just started building the upper body. Will post some WIP pics later, stay tuned Final model: Video: More photos: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=552423 Thanks for watching and hope you like it Edited February 14, 201510 yr by falconluan
January 27, 201510 yr Author interesting suspension setup, Looking forwards to WIP photos. There they are: The final version will be red. A close look at the track part: track tensioner and shock absorber: Some comparison pics: Edited January 27, 201510 yr by falconluan
January 27, 201510 yr Interesting MOC and very nice suspension system ! Did you think how would the blade should look like ? Will it be PF or pneumatic ? Edited January 27, 201510 yr by Freekysch

January 27, 201510 yr Author Interesting MOC and very nice suspension system ! Did you think how would the blade should look like ? Will it be PF or pneumatic ? It maybe look like this I think. Unlike using pneumatic in the real world though, I'll go with PF, cuz I don't familiar with pneumatic very well and the space of the MOC is very limited.
January 28, 201510 yr Seems to turn out quite realistic, I like it! The suspension setup reminds me somewhat of the Citroën-Kégresse half tracked vehicles. I really have to get back on them and you gave me the perfect inspiration, спасибо!
January 29, 201510 yr You could use only The sprimg od tge shocks To obtain a more realistic suspention system,But your system looks Great! Edited January 29, 201510 yr by PKW
February 1, 201510 yr Author Here is some update: Right now the tractor itself is complete The door was designed to be slide-open in the prototype, however, with two receivers added into the cabin, there is no room for the tracks... So, it really needs a SBrick! The M motor is obviously for the ripper, still has to figure that out Right now is working on the blade, below pictures are WIP of course. Thanks for watching and advises are always welcome Edited February 1, 201510 yr by falconluan
February 1, 201510 yr Beauty machines, yours and real one. IMO you can make it taller, you gain in realism and you have more room anyway is beautiful. Tracks very well done  .

Thanks for your advice and praise After reading your comment, I think the cabin is a litter lower too. Will recheck the scaler of the height of the cabin Edited February 1, 201510 yr by falconluan
February 1, 201510 yr Ver clean lines and design! I like it a lot! Not sure that many people like this type of machinery, but for sure you made me and jorgeopesi happy! :)
February 1, 201510 yr I am loving it! I think the only thing that you may want to consider is adding the wedge wheel belts (BL part 70162) around the Technic pulleys (part 4185) ya got going in the track system. It will make it run smoother.

It will make it run smoother. Thanks and that's a good advice, it actually runs a little rough right now. However, I think I'll keep it this way since its real world counter part does not have rubber on those wheels either. Very nicely built. I think you can make it a bit taller. Thanks and jorgeopesi also suggested that. After recheck the scale of the cabin height, I agree with you two and will make the cabin one stud higher.
February 1, 201510 yr nice progress, may I suggest making the dozer blade taller by a couple studs, and lower the attachment points of the side lift arms, they appear to be almost on the ground.
February 2, 201510 yr I'm pretty sure it will run on ANTICAPITALISTIC SPIRIT! actually, in soviet russia, dozer runs on you! Great idea falcon - prototype looks like it's coming along nicely. Hope you're keen to finish it, because i'm keen to see it! Edited February 2, 201510 yr by bonox

Hope you're keen to finish it, because i'm keen to see it! Thanks and some update: Modified blade and the cabin is 2 studs higher now Added a simple ripper, borrowed some idea from 42028 Both blade and ripper at the highest position: lowest position: Still need to improve the blade and ripper I think.
February 2, 201510 yr The new cabin looks a lot more proportional and realistic. I the blades front part is too long.
February 2, 201510 yr a fine effort. That track assembly really makes it look special compared to all the other tracked vehicles using the TLG standard.
February 2, 201510 yr For the blade try To use angle 4 connector and only one liftarms, maybe the other fixed up the first (if there is enough space) I think the blade coud look better ;)
