Hinckley Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Well no, but it does involve drilling a hole or using an axe/machete in order to get the sap out. Now, as a tree, I think that'd hurt. Well, as a tree, my leaves and limbs fall off all the time. Wind tears at me, squirrels live in me, beetles bore in me, kids climb me and every Autumn I freeze almost completely to death and then return to life in Spring. Yeah, life's a bitch and then you die...at 400 years old.
Tamamono Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I'm a tree. I use Bing. I'm a tree too and even I know the value of browsing the web in style. I'm hungry, someone water me.
Fugazi Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Tapping a tree for syrup doesn't kill it. It may not kill it, but I sure don't want a hole and spigot stuck in me and then my precious sap (do we oaks even HAVE sap?) leeched out... Well, I'm sure that proper syrup extraction can be enjoyable... provided that you know how to go about it. Anyone interested in some sick-amore syrup?
JackJonespaw Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Could we just grow our seeds out into the world and amass a giant Oak army? An army of saplings versus a few Maples, could take a while to get to that point, but it'd be worth it in the end.
Lady K Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Silly Maples, can't you just stop complaining, give the humans good maple syrup and shade and live in harmony with the rest of us? I would uproot you myself, if I could just move from my spot.......... Yeah! Look at Catarina, she's content with her shortness! Wait... if the maples are complaining about a lack of sun, don't we just chop down all the short trees first? Am I short or tall compared to the rest of you? Couldn't we just get sun therapy lamps to share for everyone and sing kumbaya while we sway in the breeze? Stupid maples. See, this is my point! We are all beautiful trees so why don't we live in harmony. But yet you suggest cutting down all the short trees first? I am content with my height, someday I will grow into a really big tree. You are a medium height tree, are you complaining about lack of sun? Or are you just being sassy?
Hinckley Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Well, I'm sure that proper syrup extraction can be enjoyable... provided that you know how to go about it. Sometimes I wake up rubbing the tree next to me.
Fugazi Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Sometimes I wake up rubbing the tree next to me. <insert woodie pun>
Zepher Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Hello fellow trees! Nash Ash here, and what a lovely morning we have! So much sunlight! I am absolutely certain that we will absolutely cast out all of the Maples in our woods absolutely! I would like to speedily proclaim that I am a nice Oak. Heck, if I'm being honest I might just be Oakiest of the Oaks. I'm absolutely dedicated to rooting out all the Maples in our forest.
Brickelodeon Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Wait... if the maples are complaining about a lack of sun, don't we just chop down all the short trees first? That's racist... And also: That's racist...

Walter Kovacs Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Elder Alden Alder speaks out: "I have received a Personal Message from a player, and I realize it could potentially lead to violations of Rule 5: Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. "So, in the interest of having a level playing field, know this. All Vanilla type trees (i.e. non-scum, non-PR) were told that they are 'Garden variety Oaks.' "Continue with your pun-fest. That is all"
Scaevola Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Oh dear those rotten maples. Why can't they cope with what they were habituated and set up to be? Hello fellow trees! Hinckley Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Oh dear those rotten maples. Why can't they cope with what they were habituated and set up to be? You'll excuse me if I don't confide in this as of yet. What? You mean green text and declarations of Oakliness don't convince you? It's fun to pick on those trees that decided not to grow in this lifetime. I feel the need to say "Hi Speedy, we love you" but not sure why I would. That would be out of character and I don't pull shit like that. Or maybe he's not picking on anyone. I just remember he inherited his oakliness not unlike royalty.
Zepher Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I don't know why anyone wouldn't trust me immediately. I'm an oak just like my father was an oak just like my grandmother was an oak! After all, isn't green an oak's favorite color. Oh dear those rotten maples. Why can't they cope with what they were habituated and set up to be? You'll excuse me if I don't confide in this as of yet. I feel like only a maple wouldn't confide in an oak.

Heck, if I'm being honest I might just be Oakiest of the Oaks. I'm absolutely dedicated to rooting out all the Maples in our forest. Surely you mean Garden Variety Oak... Either way, I don't see how we all have to be Oaks or Maples. I mean, I'm a Birch... in fact, none of us are Oaks or Maples at all!
Zepher Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Either way, I don't see how we all have to be Oaks or Maples. I mean, I'm a Birch... in fact, none of us are Oaks or Maples at all! I don't know about that. I'm okay with being oaky. Bada bing, bada boom!
Fugazi Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I would like to speedily proclaim that I am a nice Oak. Heck, if I'm being honest I might just be Oakiest of the Oaks. I'm absolutely dedicated to rooting out all the Maples in our forest. I can definitely believe that. I feel like only a maple wouldn't confide in an oak. The colours totally help me understand your point, it's appreciated. I don't know about that. I'm okay with being oaky. Bada bing, bada boom! Hokey.
Scaevola Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I don't know why anyone wouldn't trust me immediately. I'm an oak just like my father was an oak just like my grandmother was an oak! After all, isn't green an oak's favorite color. I feel like only a maple wouldn't confide in an oak. Only a maple wouldn't confide in a confirmed oak.
TheLazyChicken Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Larry Larch is ready to begin this day! I can definitely believe that. If you put it like that, I can totally believe it! Wait, on second thought, I'm not so sure...
Bob Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I can definitely believe that. As long as you're not defiantly believing it.
jluck Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I guess that is what trees do shiver and... Stand tall, in one spot. That was the total amount of RP I can come up with regarding trees, so I am done with that. This is a big game with 25 players, so we could think 4-5 scum. Also considering the fact that there may/probably is a neutral among us. Haha, oh sorry. Blackhawk, is that some kind of tree also Given all the babbling yew trees are doing, I figured I'd comment on the only piece of gameplay so far. One of the main mistakes I've seen in my games is the town underestimating scum numbers. 4 is too small in a game this size, imo. Maybe, MAYBE, 5 and a 3rd party, but definitely not 4. These early assumptions can be a bit...shady.
jimmynick Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I'm a tree. I use Bing. Being of a majestic and ancient walnutty disposition, I prefer AltaVista What? You mean green text and declarations of Oakliness don't convince you? >tfw someone says greentext If any of you ever decides you need to get your kinky branches on, come on over to me for a taste of my walnut whip!
Zepher Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Hokey. I don't know what it is about you, Sammy, but I like you a lot! Let's enjoy the sun together, fellow tree! Isn't it just great being a tree? Only a maple wouldn't confide in a confirmed oak. You sure talk about maples and what they might and might not do a lot!
jimmynick Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Given all the babbling yew trees are doing, I figured I'd comment on the only piece of gameplay so far. Zepher Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I think it's a safe bet that there are six maples in this forest, given the size! But maybe five and some other sort of tree! Those are my bets! But what do I know, I'm just a happy simple oak sucking in the sun.
