This is what I thought you were assuming and that is what is pinging me about you.

I see where you're coming from now. All I can really say is that it was the assumption of a newbie Oak.

What happened to your comment being fluff/common banter? You're contradicting yourself. Floundering even. You're caught in quite a predicament and it will be difficult to rebut the accusations against you. Your rebuttals are less lackluster than lacking sufficient justification.

I agree that I am caught in a difficult predicament, but I don't see how I can justify myself even more. As for the banter comment, see the PM I sent to you.

Maybe using meta isn't very appropriate, but Clem is definitely playing differently than he was in "Party Lines". He's more aggressive and inquisitive now, and this change of playstyle does imply a different alignment from too- ergo, he is likely to be an Oak. Or else he's changed his playstyle deliberately to throw people, but that's getting into Wifom territory...

But seriously, I must have missed something, why would such an assumption be bad exactly?

Woah mate, this is only day one, the spanish inquisition isn't supposed to start until day two

I know Simon has already mentioned this, but why do you feel the need to defend me? Are you sympathising with me or merely a scum trying to buddy me?

Vote: Bruce Spruce (Tamamono)

Out of a few suspicious treefolk, I think Mr. Spruce is most suspicious. His seemingly helpful calling out those talking about mechanics and his weird incriminating ping me so to speak.

That said, at the moment, Berty Birch seems to be acting out the popular dance move: The flail.

At least he has Bobby to defend him.

If you were in my position, I doubt you could have "flailed" any less.

For excessively useless posts...

I Am Groot! :sweet:

Just a random comment to see if anyone would even notice. Would a random comment help Oaks find and root out (no pun intended) the Maples? Absolutely!

Not really, random comments this early in the game are just that...random. Later in the game it might be more telling.

This is just a game (...not really, it's life and death in the forest :cry_sad:... ) so go ahead and laugh. :sweet:

...and for accusing people merely because they were suspicious of her first.

Well, good morning to all! And what a lovely sunny day it is. :classic:

What a way to wake up than to find out that some of the male trees stayed up till all hours of the night (those in different time zones excluded) talking tree trash about the only female tree amongst them. I'm a female tree, in case you hadn't noticed, with all your male banter going on, so of course I'm fluffy. Day one is supposed to be fun and fluffy! And I do sleep, at night time, which I did.

Now I will say that I find Waldorf Walnut and Bruce Spruce suspicious for what seems like trying to get rid of me. As they are the instigators of the tree trash talk about me.

(I guess now she'll be suspicious of me too )

Vote: Hazel Hazelnut(Goliath)

Because his(her?) only post at all in this entire thread has been fluff. In previous lives, I have been fooled by people who stay under the carpet and don't help. I'm tired of dying because I don't pay attention to the people who don't talk. Hazel, it would be nice if you chipped in and actually tried to find the maples like the rest of us are doing.

Thing have happened while I've been gone! *oh2*

Right now, Bobby and Bruce seem most suspicious to me. Bobby for his editing shenanigans, and Bruce for his curious behavior.

I'm going to hold off and see what Bruce has to say before I vote...

Berty and Alastair are both doing the mega scummy poke thing. They're both maple.

vote: Berty (Dragonfire)

As for people voting/saying I'm scummy - explain why voting me is more beneficial to town than voting for someone else. For example, William, you say that Berty is also flailing - what makes keeping him around more attractive than keeping me around? Additionally, whats the problem with calling out people for being utterly useless?

I'm fine with being under scrutiny, but those who suspect me will be held to a high standard as to why their actions are beneficial.

Wow, I just realized we have 2 people with one post and 3 more with only 2 posts, come on folks!

But my real reason for this post is because I realized I formatted my vote wrong

What is curious behavior? Am I being too curious? Where's the man in the yellow hat?

Nothing, unless I do it apparently... When I do it, it becomes "super scummy".

Don't try to group what you do with what I do. I know you watched that tree tv show about the politicians. The bad guys in that show all "poked" the quieter representatives in hope of looking town. You weren't as bad with your vote in hazel as Berty is in his poke, but I fail to see how vying hazel at this point helps. Call her out, she's dropping the ball by not saying anything. But a vote is totally unwarranted at this point. (Although I reserve the right to take her to the cleaners if she pings me when she does speak up.)

I on the other hand raised an important question about how useful it is to question the number or scum in the situation - an action even you were indulging in.

I dont feel I did a good job explaining this difference, but I hope you will get what I mean, especially seeing the pokes of legends past

Voting, not vying

And yet you seem somewhat dismissive of the Maple possibilities.

Correction, alternate possibilities to what has already been suggested, if you find having a point of view other than yours pointed out to you then I beg your forgiveness for being cautious about this.

It was an accident.

I was going to bawl you out for fluffing, but then you gave this defense.

I'm interested to see your explanation of Bruce's behavior, care to explain?

Also, I'm pretty sure that what Bobby did was a mistake, he did that in the last mafia game.

It didn't seem like caution or discussing other possibilities. It seemed dismissive. So what are these alternate possibilities as you see it?

I am going to have to disagree with this vote and statement. I also don't see why calling out people talking about game mechanics would be maple-y. I see that more of just a suspicion an oak would do.

I don't find any of your reasons really helpful either.

I'm going to Vote: Agnes Cyprus (JackJonesPaw) in an effort to get him to speak up.

Apologies, I've been at school tree...learning... for hours now. But I'm not an overly large fan of this attention-grabbing move you pulled. - rather than defend yourself against suspicions against you with good argument, you attempt to shift the attention to me and my silence.

As for the whole "garden variety" thing, maybe it seemed like an accident to you, but it seemed too much like fishing to me, and I can see I'm not alone in this thought. Not to mention the fluff and contradictory defense.

Vote: Larry Larch (TheLazyChicken) partly because he refuses to put his damn name in his signature as has been repeatedly requested, but moreso for:

Defending two people for seemingly no reason. Specifically because you are trying to stop people for voting for other people but not offering any alternatives, reasons or votes of your own. You tell William his reasoning is off and then you say he's not helpful. Well, is he just dumb? Inexperienced? Uninformed? A Maple himself? Similarly, you defend Bobby's post-editing to Chester and again seem concerned with the argument for voting for Bruce.

I don't like Bobby or Berty's behavior either. Berty, for the reasons I've already stated and Bobby for defending him. I know Bobby says he wasn't but I think his justification has holes in it too.

My internet has been down for a majority of the day so I couldn't help. It sucks now because I'm clueless as to what is going on and it's going to take a little while for me to actually comprehend what is going on.

As for now, I'm going to abstain because I'm not sure what's going on and I would like to catch-up with what is going on and vote for whoever appeals to me as a likely suspect.

Please speak up. I don't think you've posted anything today. At least, I haven't seen anything from you. It might have gotten lost in the sea of fluff that was pages one through four.

I'm not defending anytree really, It's just that I don't see anything overtly Maple-y in what has been said so far, muddled Oakyness yes, but nothing that screams Maple. I think I've said this before.

Okay, I looked back and caught up with all the puns and some the "morning wood" joke, very funny by the way, but I'm not set on a tree to mark the beginning of this deforestation simply because there's too much puns by too many people. So I don't see a tree to vote for right now at this very second in my eyes, if I had eyes.

Who knows, I might just cast in a vote on a random tree...

Allow me to explain then. I believe that Bruce Spruce made the statements calling people out to appear as oak. That's what it seems like to me. As a real oak does not need to APPEAR helpful, I think this behaviour is suspect. Combine that with the baseless maple read situation and I feel confident in my vote.

Bruce, as to respond to what you adressed to me, I believe Berty's statement that I call flail became clear in his statement before my vote of you. He's definitely my number two choice for voting, but I'm not sure at all if it's just him trying to subtly declare himself vanilla town and a bad explanation or something like that. I need to think about and reread it more. For me it's not about keeping around people for a better prospect or whatever you meant exactly by that, it's about finding maples, and that's possible even on day one.
