LennyRhys Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I notice it's also for sale on Amazon UK, but there are only 4 sets left. Selling like hotcakes! Quote
SNIPE Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) I am planning on making the outiggers like in the mobile crane MK 2 (42009). instead of adding an extra function to the gearbox im having the motors axle driving the pnumatic pump however it can still use the gearbox, this gives an extra function for the second stage of the outriggers. Lime = 12 Tooth Gears (for outrigger gear racks) Light Grey = 16 Tooth Mesh Gear Dark Grey = 16 Tooth Idler Gear Red = Selection Clutches. Black = Axles The top output of clutch A is meshed with that lime gear and it connects to the other lime gear using two 8 tooth gears, because the lime gears cannot be offset and also must rotate in opposite directions and at the same speed./ The bottom output of clutch B has a gear on top of it which has been removed for clarity, this is the shaft that runs directly above the L motor. allanp Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 As soon as I can get more new cylinders I'll make the outriggers extend and raise/lower pneumatically. Quote
SNIPE Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) As soon as I can get more new cylinders I'll make the outriggers extend and raise/lower pneumatically. That is a good idea for space saving however I think it will be a bad idea using pneumatics for the outriggers as they will need to be synchronized and you cant really do that because of differing air pressures in each cylender. You can more accuratley control LA's and are probably stronger Edited July 25, 2015 by SNIPE Quote
probey Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Great news from Toronto! Bumped into one at lego store yesterday and bought it right away. Shopkeeper told me they just received it yesterday, limited to 1 per family and 1 per lego VIP. Quote
GI_Jack Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I got one from Lego store in Liverpool today. Wasn't expecting it before 1st of August, but since they had it, I just couldn't resist it. Got the crawler crane too :) Quote
M_longer Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) I have disassembled my copy and I could not resist using new pneumatics in something. I tried to make an alternate model for this set, but I ended with this: Actros clamshell parts put side to side look like ditch cleaning bucket, so I decided to make a wheeled excavator. Unfortunately, it will be not finished. The arm works quite well, except the centering of the bucket (pneumatic tubes collide with bucket links). The superstructure can be rotated by using warning light on the top of the cab. Front wheels can be steered by that bevel gesr under battery box. The blade and stabilizers are missing and I have no idea how to make them working with parts that are left. Whole excavator has got some major problems with stability, and that is the main reason why I will not continue building it. Also, I am used to have smooth shapes in my models, and all those holes and gaps look weird for me. Edited July 25, 2015 by M_longer Quote

You can more accuratley control LA's and are probably stronger Why do they need to be synchronised? They are not in real life. The truck I saw at work had individual control valves next to each outrigger so they had to be operated separately and one at a time, which is required when not on perfectly level ground. And besides, in practice the pneumatics will be stronger. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I envy you too much , I need them for my dumper... Quote

You can more accuratley control LA's and are probably stronger Synchronized outriggers for a crane truck like this (or pretty much any crane truck I know of, at least) is not realistic at all.. Ideally one would have individual controls for each side, both for extending/retracting, as well as deploying of the outrigger pads. Often you see these kind of trucks working on one side only,so it only needs to fully extend its outriggers on that side. Typically when working on the side of a road etc.. Quote
Patman Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Arocs and crawler crane are on the shelf at TRU in Vancouver, Canada. $269, and $179 respectively....... Got shoulder surgery scheduled in the winter, so will likely get them then-its a long recovery, apparently...... Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Can't wait for my MB to arrive.. Have to wait till friday or saturday. Quote
Nalyd997 Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 How come so many people have gotten it early? Quote
LennyRhys Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Some stores had stock available before the official release date. It's been available online for a few days now. Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 (edited) And because I couldn't wait till Christmas Allap what's the price at Argos? Bytheway I've got the crawler crane on Amazon UK for £85....how much is the official price? Edited July 27, 2015 by TheItalianBrick Quote
allanp Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 In Argos (which is usually the official price), 42043 is £170, Crawler crane is £110 and fire plane is £45, so £85 for the crane sounds great. Quote
boatbuoy Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 That's great news. Argos website is usually out of date anyway. I find it bizarre though, that its in the shops before the release date. Note to self: Take a walk to the shops. Enjoy it. H Thank you both for the heads up. It is on 3 for 2 until tomorrow aswell! Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Thank you both for the heads up. It is on 3 for 2 until tomorrow aswell! On the Argos website it doesn't list the new sets, also they say the 3X2 it's valid only if purchased online.......but they do have them in the shops, not sure what to do! i'm tempted! Or I should wait till saturday for the official release! Quote
paul_delahaye Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 (edited) Not impressed at all with Argos for removing the Merc set from their website before the 3 for 2 offer! Edited July 27, 2015 by paul_delahaye Quote
boatbuoy Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 The 3 for price of 2 is available in the actual stores until close of Tuesday. Wouldn't have known they were available early without the other posters, so thank you. I picked up 3 today... seemed a bargain and hopefully a few parts for any MOCs that come up in the near future. The difficulty is finding a store with that many, when you can't search online. Need to go instore and look at stock levels at customer services who were really really helpful. Quote

echo three Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I went around about 15 or so stores in the north east and could only ever find a total of 2 stores that had one in stock and as such decided to give up on the idea of the 3 for 2 and just went to the Lego Shop instead. Quote
sm1995 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Anything like this but with inverted colour? But without the dump bed Yes! Great minds think alike Beautiful. BTW does anyone know why TLG decided to use DBG pulley wheels for the rims instead of LBG ones? It makes no sense to me.... Quote
Freekysch Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I like them in DBG, they give a nice contrast with the rim. Maybe that is their idea too. Quote
