allanp Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) An inline 6 would be physically too large to be in scale for this model. An inline 4 would be about right. Not concerned at all with adding two extra cylinders. Edited February 1, 2015 by allanp Quote
andythenorth Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I'm gonna place the things of my Unimog into this set. make the bed pnuematic and a few other things That's a good idea...my Unimog is junked in a cupboard, might take it apart completely. Maybe make a pup-trailer? Quote

SNIPE Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 The engine is huge compared to the res tof the scale of the model anyway so I doubela 6 cylender was easy or even possible, only when and if we get smaller engine parts can we maybe see something like this. I prefer flat or inline as it takes up much less space. Quote

paul_delahaye Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Dang, now I need 2 of this set, that B model is also very nice Quote

Haha I got mine in december as one of the lucky lasts and totaly redesinged the structure. Made a heavy duty gearbox, like Sariel's, in the center powered by an XL motor and geared down 12-20 and made 2 studs more ground clearance in the center. RC functions: -drive -steering -pump and PTO -gearbox Quote

Bricktrain Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I thought most Merc engines were of the V variety anyway. All our big cranes are V8 mercs, lots of their trucks used to be V6s Quote
dougstar Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 i just googled the official pics and seems that it is in fact a inline six. im sure the older merc models had v style engines Quote
Emmi Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Best video yet, great quality! (he talks in German) Quote
Dafgek81 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I am a big truck fan, and I know for a fact that the newest series of mercs does not have V6 or V8 engines, Mercedes stoped using them because of fuelefficiency. Quote

RC functions: -drive -steering -pump and PTO -gearbox Hey, I also used Sariel's heavy duty gearbox! , worked very well (2 XL motors) , it even destroyed the gears and shot out the hub axles under pressure i 1st gear! -So I replaced the gearbox with direct drive and put in an onboard winch and 2 large compressors to lift the bed with 4 pneumatic cylinders :) now its: -drive -steer -compressor/winch -open/close switch for bed Is there not a tread on making the awesome 8110 utimate ??? Ondra Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Look at video at time 2:43, there is probably L6 located between battery box and turntable. So everything is OK Quote
Emmi Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) ^ That's quite possible, yeah. Did you recognize that the yellow pieces at the rear - next to the rear tyres - are stored in wrong/another position this time. This definitely confirms that they are/can be used to prevent the trucks rear tyres from moving :) Nice touch there. Edited February 2, 2015 by Emmi Quote

nicjasno Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 The video confirms the turntable, that is a bigger version of the 28 tooth one. I love this. Quote
andythenorth Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) Junked in a cupboard Lol I think going by this and train forum u don't have any love for ur lego ha [Off-topic] It's just ABS. Official sets, I couldn't care less if they're in one piece, or totally disassembled - as long as the parts can be found any official set can be reconstructed any time. The MOCs I've built I'd be more sad about junking, because a lot of work was sunk into them. This one particularly, took fricking ages just to build the rear bed, so many pins https://www.flickr.c...rth/4826895221/ Edited February 2, 2015 by andythenorth Quote
tripletschiee Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I'd really love to see the suspension working. Quote
Emmi Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 There's working suspension - both on front and rear :) On rear I think it's pendular suspension, on the front tyres suspension similar to the Unimog suspension. Love that! Quote
Epic Technic Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I believe the front suspension is trailing arm suspension. Quote

Love that! Yeah, I know! :-) But it is not visible in the videos, how it works. This guy is never pushing the vehicle e.g. sideways to demonstrate the function of the supsension! Quote
Rishab N Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 That's a good idea...my Unimog is junked in a cupboard, might take it apart completely. My Unimog is all junked up. Went from one of my favorite sets to being cannibalized for parts. Still haven't got around to restoring it Quote

Jockos Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Can be just a 4L motor instead of 6? Because I see it just 4... Quote
