thomol Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 I haven't seen it in technic, but 10225, UCS R2-D2, had bags numbered 1-10. That's the most I've encountered! Quote
talos Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 I just found the set I was thinking of, that I have...it goes to bag 11, it is set 70728, "Battle For Ninjago City" Quote

thomol Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 10243, Parisian restaurant, has bags numbered 1-4 and almost 2500 pieces, so obviously part count has nothing to do with bag numbering. Instead it seems like age range, theme, use of sub models and such determines the numbering. Quote
TechniChriS Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I have made a "poor man's version" of the B model. As I don't have all the white stuff for the cab, I've changed it for black with some red so it don't gets too dark. LBG panels of the lorry changed to green. The back of the cab is a bit 'open', you can see part of the fake engine, so I closed it. Halfway building the crane, I realised that the new pneumatic cylinders are only one stud wide so I couldn't use my old cylinders. Therefore I made a sort of mock-up by replacing the cylinders by yellow beams. Probably next wednesday will my official set arrive, then I will make some side by side photos with the 'real thing'. Rail Co Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I am getting jealous of everyone who has already received there Truck , as mine has taken 13 days to ship and there is still a few more days to arrive (ordered on Aug. 1st...) Getting impatient great additions to all though who have already modified it. -RailCo Quote
MaxSupercars Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) I got mine on wednesday and finished building yesterday (8,5 hours in 3 days)... I must say that it looks much better in real then on photos... A lot of photos are taken from bad angles... I recommend it to buy to everyone! It's worth of 170 €... better than Unimog... The steering and suspension work really good... the crane also... I like everything instead front grill and front lights... They will be modded... :D I like that TLG is hearing what people say and probably is checking also this forum because the Battery Box got improved middle position stop... really step forward in details... :) Max... Ngoc Nguyen Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Anybody has any idea why trucks like this need 4 steering front wheels instead of 2? Quote
MSc Shobaki Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Anybody has any idea why trucks like this need 4 steering front wheels instead of 2? It is due to the heavy loading capability of the truck. As you drive a fully loaded cargo bed and want to steer, you'd need a steering type that needs to take up the forces, both tangential and centrifugal. With only one steering axle the truck might lose grip on the surface and the steering would not enable smooth turning of the vehicle, as the load is not evenly distruted and push the cargo loads forwards into the steering axle. By having a second axle, the load is distributed more evenly and enable smoother steering. Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Anybody has any idea why trucks like this need 4 steering front wheels instead of 2? When wehicle is turning, each wheel follow it's personal trajectory. Non steered wheels too. So, for any number of axles only one axle can be fixed to make perfect turn. The point of keepenig 2 axles fixed in trucks like this - sacrificing this perfect turning geometry a bit for more simple and more robust construction that can handle heavy load. Quote
Bering Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Is it possible to install a manual pump here? Does somebody know the part number of the pneumatic pump you have to push manually? Or does the functions work to slow in that way? Quote

Bering Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I can use the motor for steering or driving the vehicle. I have some ideas. But is it possible? Quote

D3K Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I can use the motor for steering or driving the vehicle. I have some ideas. But is it possible? From experience; manual pneumatic pump on a truck with all wheel suspension is not the best combination, unless you have very solid and stable outriggers/stabilizers close to where the pump(s) will be mounted Quote
Bering Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 should be - but I'd recommend an airtank or two.... or use two pumps like 8455 does... Thanks for your info, is the pump in 8455 the newest manual pump available? From experience; manual pneumatic pump on a truck with all wheel suspension is not the best combination, unless you have very solid and stable outriggers/stabilizers close to where the pump(s) will be mounted Good point, didn't think about that issue. talos Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 For all Arocs Dump Truck owners! Please don't drive like this! :D Good grief, did they not know the box was up, I would think it would lock out the drive if the box was not down and locked in place if traveling over a low speed...crazy! Quote
N-4K0 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I have no experience with truck driving, but... I don't understand how a person can drive a truck and NOT notice that the cargo bed is up like that I can only think that it takes an idiot to manage that... Quote
Blakbird Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I just made it, except for the new parts. I'll upload the LDraw file when they have been released, feel free to use it as you see fit Nice work! Would you be willing to share your crane file so I can add it my truck? I can replace the new parts later. Quote
Henkl Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Don't know if it is allready said but is the cab from the a model the same as the cab from the b model. I want to tear it apart and build the b model but if it is the same then thats not done. Quote
gmshades Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) Yes the cabs and bumpers are the same. Matter of fact, a lot of the frame in the front is the same, including the structure behind the cab. Compare the instructions before you tear everything apart. Blakbird Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I finished the LDraw file sans hoses. The following parts still need to be replaced: Grille emblem replaced with Captain America shield Long pneumatic cylinders replaces with dummies Grabber buckets replaced with dummies Telescoping rack gears and brackets replaced with dummies Quote
D3K Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Nice work! Would you be willing to share your crane file so I can add it my truck? I can replace the new parts later. I'll wait with uploading it until I have fitted the parts myself, I think, at least the pneumatic ones, as the hose ends need to be connected to the cylinders.. Unless you have started using LDcad yourself? Quote
