TheLegoDr Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 That is really neat. I hadn't heard of the use of fiber optics or micromotors before. I skipped over that whole generation of LEGO. So if LEGO would have went bankrupt, I would never have noticed probably. But I would have enjoyed that as a kid I'm sure. Are these micromotors still around? Interesting that Mattel lost Disney Princess line. Quote
dr_spock Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 But I would have enjoyed that as a kid I'm sure. Are these micromotors still around? They are no longer made but you can still find them on BrickLink, etc. Quote
Inzane Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Speaking of the fibre-optics, I recently pulled out a couple exo-force sets and built them on a whim (the Sentai Fortress and the Bridge Walker) a few weeks back. I had forgotten how cool the light brick + fiber optic effects were, and wondered why we never saw anything like that for so long since. Such a shame... Quote
Faefrost Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 But I would have enjoyed that as a kid I'm sure. Are these micromotors still around? You can get them on BL although they get kind of pricey, especially fro the odd mounting brackets. They also dont have a lot of torque but put out a tremendous amount of noise. Those sounds on that video. That's not a sound effect. That's the micro motor. Quote

KringlesBricks Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I still have a couple of those motors from the Police Boats (turned the radar in circles)...and the LED fiber optic tubes from the Alien set. that shot red light through the tubes when the motor would turn in circles - cool stuff; but, yes very pricey on COG's Quote
