Sorry, but I'm a bit late to this thread. Has there been a release date given on the SW Battle Figures? I started a discussion about this sor of thing over in the SW thread, but a moderator movedit into a general 'future sets' discussion where it was quickly swallowed up. My thread was aimed at asking people what they wanted to see, specifically from future SW 'constraction' (new descriptor for me) sets. The main discussion then moved on to TFA sets, so if there was any news of the SW Battle Figure release dates it didn't appear over there.

These six sets are due for release in September, though I'm not sure of the specific day.

As for other characters I'd like to see, I think Chewbacca, Leia, a B1 Battle Droid, a B2 Super Battle Droid, a generic Imperial Stormtrooper, Boba Fett, Ahsoka Tano, and Mace Windu would all be interesting sets.

I think droids and characters like Vader are the best options, since human/organic characters doesn't always look good IMO, like Luke.

Luke might seem lacklustre, but Obi-Wan looks marvelous, the other of two extremes. I wouldn't diss organic Constraction figures completely.

I agree. If the range was limited to just droids and the like it would have limited appeal. Stormtroopers are at the top of my list, as is Darth Maul and Alec Guiness Obi Wan. Not sure how they would carry off a Chewbacca though.

Oooh . . . how about Jar-Jar Binks??!!

KIDDING!

Hey, if it brings us stuff like tan or dark tan bones I'm all for a CCBS Jar-Jar.

I know the TFA Star Wars sets are slated for a September release (according to other threads), but why couldn't these Constraction sets be released in August along with the second phase of G2 Bionicles? It would certainly take the sting out of waiting so long for the other sets, and help spread the pain/payments.

Maybe they are aiming to catch the hype for the new movie? I mean, at least for me it's not quite there yet.

As an evil, evil person, I'm all for this.

Not to mention that if they were released at the same time as the summer BIONICLE sets, they'd be more likely to cannibalize each pther's sales.

I would not mind a Jar-Jar to use as a generic Gungan head. But in all honesty I'd prefer a generic Gungan warrior, or Captain Tarpals.

Anyway, both seem unlikely to happen, sadly.

Maybe it also had something to do with the design time and process? I note that BIONICLE doesn't use the newer parts from Star Wars (and Star Wars only uses the skull torso once, which I think is the only specific part it borrows), unlike some past years Ultrabuilds.

Of course, although Luke doesn't have the best look, Obi-Wan looks nice, so there is hope for human characters  I guess droids fascinate me more in general.

Ahsoka would be wonderful, if they do her head correctly of course. Obi-Wan turned out great but sadly I just can't force myself to like Luke

All of the other figures in that set look great, so I will be forced to buy Luke anyway (it's a kinda OCD thing) if I already have five out of six in this first wave.

Thinking about it, this range could be huge. Emperor Palpatine, Yoda, Dooku, Darth Maul, Ashoka, Plo Koon, Mace Windu, Han Solo, Chewie, Leia Princess (Tantive IV)/Hoth/Slave Girl . . . (perhaps not before the watershed), Anakin - Pre/Post Dark Side, Padme, Magna Guards, Scout Trooper, Droidekka, Battle Droids, Super Battle Droids, Genoshans, C3PO + R2D2 (twin pack), Boba Fett, Lando Calrisian, Darth Malgus, Revan, Sith Warrior, . . .

Even if they only released 6 new figures a year there are strong candidates for maybe 4-5 years of figures.

I agere with you. Luke is kinda meh, but Obi-Wan. Vader and Grievous are likely the best of this wave.

EDIT 2: Corrected.

So it's a Comic-con exclusive?

Nope. As it says in the article: "fans will have to wait until January 1, 2016 to purchase their own".

Which is a good thing. This guy looks awesome. Glad to see 2015 isn't the end for this line.

No, it's going to be on display at Comic con, EW explained that it wouldn't be purchaseable until it hits retail in January of 2016.

Given the standard/trend for releasing six of these beauties at once, I wonder what the other five will be?

I imagine they will all be EpVII themed, so that means that there will be three protagonists, two antagonists, and this Stormie. I am guessing Finn, Rey, Poe, Snoke, Stormie, and the Sith seen in the trailers.

*picture of awesome new Stormtrooper action figure*

Well, that's new.

Also, check out that blaster!

Source.

I've never been so excited about a Lego set with a Stormtrooper until now. THAT HELMET AND THAT BLASTER.
