GK733 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) Pyrox* Worriz gave us dark red 5M shells (and they will come back soon in the Hulkbuster set, IIRC). But there isn't that much brown on Obi-Wan, his outfit is mainly white and tan. Lego tends to change colors but yeah, might not in this case. Tan could suit him fine setwise.. What I did really forgot was that these guys are supposed to be 20$ sets. Now this looks like a 15$ one. Edited February 1, 2015 by GK733 Quote
Leewan Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) Well, I hope it's gonna be tan, or even dark tan, rather than dark red. Redish brown would be nice too, though. Now this looks like a 15$ one. With the Star Wars factor, I'm sure the 20$ sets will look like 15$ sets anyways. Edited February 1, 2015 by Leewan Quote
Vinyl Scratch Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Good god Commander Cody yes. Constraction Clone Trooper, I'm in heaven. Quote

Shakar Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 "Lewis, why don't you ever buy Star Wars Lego?" This is why. Yeah..pretty much. SW sets are stupidly overpriced and in Europe it's even worse. I hope they don't pull out the crap they did with Marvel, with 20 dollar sets mysteriously getting a 27 EURO tag. Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 If these SW Constraction sets have a similar build to any of the £13 Bionicle sets and they got priced at £15, honestly I'd be okay with that. If they were £18 however, I would not be impressed. I would probably be even less impressed if the rumoured $35 set translated into 35 British pounds yet it turns out as big as, say, the Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder set coming up in Bionicle. I still can't forgive LEGO for doing that with the Queen Beast set. But if CCBS Grievous (if he's the big set) turns out to be the same size as his System UCS counterpart (unlikely I know), that would be, well, better than awesome. Yet I would still probably buy them all in any case as I take pride in having every single CCBS piece in every colour that has been produced. I never know when an MOC of mine might need a certain part in a certain colour Quote
DraikNova Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 If you think that's ridiculous, please take into account that the Queen Beast costs like 54 euros here. Quote
ZORK64 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 If you think that's ridiculous, please take into account that the Queen Beast costs like 54 euros here. Wait, what? I live in Germany, and Queen Beast costs 39,99€, according to the catalogue. I don't know, Cody and Vader are essentially heavily armoured people, and the chest add-on looks very natural as human armour. It'd be neat if we got some new armouring though (be they shells and/or add-ons). The chest add-on looks a bit too beefy in my opinion. On super-muscular comic heroes, it works fine, but I think on the supposedly more lean characters it would look kinda odd, at least to me. I'm more concerned by the shoulder armour though. Torso shells would be waaay to big here. Just so everyone knows, there is a chance that discussion of these sets may be moved to the Star Wars forum, given that up until this point, basically everything Star Wars has been located in that forum. I would rather the discussion, MOCs, etc be kept here, but this is a matter that is being discussed. That kinda makes sense, even though a few pages earlier it was mentioned that the SW forum wasn't all too fond of constraction figures, so maybe we should keep them here...? Quote

TheOneVeyronian Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Oops, appears I've accidentally opened a can of worms mentioning the Queen Beast as part of me giving thoughts about the potential pricing of the Star Wars constraction figures. But 54 Euros? Ouch Anyway, to bring this back on topic, I agree with many people saying that the super chest and using torso armour on the arms would be a big mistake with these sets - they're not hugely muscular superheroes but rather averagely-proportioned humans (well, Grievous isn't but you get what I'm saying ). Simply slapping on some shells onto them would be enough here, maybe the occassional shell add-on would be acceptable I think. As for moving this thread to the Star Wars forum: I can see why you would want to (since the Technic SW sets are in the Star Wars forum), but all sets involving constraction, including licensed ones, are here I believe (judging by the review index at least) so I think it also makes sense to keep it here. But I guess that's for the moderators to decide, just thought I'd add my thoughts on it Quote
GK733 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) Just to get people mad these sets could include a one special minifig per set :D Edited February 3, 2015 by GK733 Quote

Also it seems that a lot of people on the Star Wars forum hate the idea of constraction Star Wars anyways, not sure why they would want the main thread on it there. Quote

Agreed on both counts, I think we'll get a much more fruitful discussion of these sets here. I can't wait for these sets. I'm pretty sure we'll see a new mold for the lightsabers, but I'm more excited for new armour pieces! Quote
VBBN Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Believe me, we know every aspect of the forums and what themes are placed where. There are always exceptions and special cases that have to be dealt with to make the most sense to the community. It seems we have reached an agreement to make Action Figures the home of the Star Wars CCBS sets. Really all that means right now is that this thread will stay open and remain to be separate of the Star Wars 2015 rumors thread. When the sets are revealed and we are for sure sticking this decision, I'll make a quick announcement in the AF forum discussion thread to let you know exactly what things will belong here. Quote
npgcole Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Confirmation of constraction figures: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/a-battalion-of-new-lego-star-wars-sets-arrives-for-2015-300034958.html 2 are confirmed to be Darth Vader and Luke, and the rest will be unveiled throughout the year. mysteriouspi Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Each set is $19.99 or more? Either those are some hefty action figures, or I can smell the licensing. Quote
Leewan Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) So they'll be released in September and not in October ? That's great ! BTW, I hope they will allow photos at the NYTF. Edited February 12, 2015 by Leewan Quote
Shakar Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Each set is $19.99 or more? Either those are some hefty action figures, or I can smell the licensing. I fear it's the second. I bet the $20 (..20 euro? More?) are going to be as big as mid size sets like Lewa, Gali, etc. SW sets are ridiculously overpriced like that. Really curious about those $35 sets though. I doubt we're going to get something as huge as Witch Doctor again but that extra money has to go somewhere. Grievous was described as being "very big and impressive" so we can count on him being one of those upper price sets, but I hope there's another big one (DV?). Quote

I'm hoping that it will be a two-pack of two characters battling. Perhaps something like 'Mace Windu VS Darth Maul'. I doubt it will be a singular large figure like a CCBS Jabba or Grevious. Quote

I doubt it will be a singular large figure like a CCBS Jabba or Grevious. That particular pairing would be...slightly non-canon. I doubt they're two-packs. Considering the singular figures are $20, I don't see how a $35 set (where did this price come from btw?) could have two figures, unless one is really small. Thus I think a $35 General Grievous figure isn't out of the question. Quote

And sorry for the uncanon-ness of my suggestion, it was just a random idea thrown out. (I'm not TOO knowledgeable on Star Wars.) I'm mostly worried that a $35 Grevious would be too large to look good with other sets. Quote
Agent Fusion Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Maybe a Yoda and Sideous/Dooku pairing could work, a la Mask Maker Vs. Skull Grinder. Quote

The Kumquat Alchemist Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) Darth Vader looks like a decent figure, and a wonderful (if expensive) parts pack. Luke looks about as bad as I would have expected. On a per-parts basis, the new shells used for the legs look interesting, and, though perhaps lacking the armor attachment points of normal shells, also seem useful. I wish I could be as optimistic about the new body armor, but it is less appealing to me. Though it might be neat to own one or two, I'd imagine it will be about as versatile the chestpiece used in 2014 CHIMA ultrabuilds, which is, not very. I'm also guessing that it was designed with Stormtrooper or Clone ultrabuilds in mind, judging from the detailing. Edited February 14, 2015 by The Kumquat Alchemist Quote
