Oky Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Wasn't the first game pretty much already a Lego Avengers game? I just don't see what they could do different in this one other than having a different story and a few more characters from the movies. I would have preferred a direct sequel with another original story and even more characters and locations from the comics rather than limiting it to what we see in the movies, or an entirely new game for a different license altogether. On the other hand, if they do it like LotR and use the voices from the movies, that might actually be an improvement, especially for Iron Man and Nick Fury. I don't think there is enough material in the two Avengers movies to base a whole game on and it would be foolish not to include the MCU GotG, so I'm pretty sure it will include the rest of the MCU as well. I'm hoping for an Agent Carter DLC. Quote
DuckBricks Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Eh, based on ONLY the Avengers? Sounds like LEGO is stepping backwards from making the world more diverse. Hoping for big DLCs that tie-in to other franchises. Quote
Quicksilver Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 All the lead characters in Agents of SHIELD... They could do that like the Kingpin and Howard the Duck missions from the first game, in which they are side missions that don't add anything to the plot. Also it would be pretty sweet if I could play as Mockingbird, Quake and Quote
Quicksilver Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 This Image of Ant Man was posted in the Marvel thread by AmazingBricks. It looks animated in the style that the Avengers were in the advertisement for the game. So Ant Man may be in The game. Quote

K-Nut Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I think that's just a render from flickr. If done right, this game could be very good. I'd have preferred a LEGO Marvel 2 Game, but if this can encompass all the MCU films, it could be very cool. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Personally I think this game could be very promising. I've played through a number of LEGO games, and the ones I like most are the ones that are actually based on movies (or TV in the case of SWIII: Clone Wars) and not original stories. LEGO games are always going to be pretty much the same as each other, so the fun for me is seeing how LEGO and TT decide to cover source material in the LEGO game style. Marvel Superheroes and Batman 3 were both a bit dull for me (though the scenery in Batman 3 was amazing, especially the Lantern planets) because it's just more of the same smashing things nonsense without any source material pulling me in. Lord of the Rings and Clone Wars (as well as the older SW games) were a lot more fun because it was LEGO's take on something I'm already familiar with. So personally, if this game does the story line from some MCU films, I'll be quite excited for it. I think there's really plenty of material there too - just the first Avengers film alone has enough different fights and scenarios for a good six levels once the scenarios are drawn out with puzzles in the typical LEGO way. JackJonespaw Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I think there's really plenty of material there too - just the first Avengers film alone has enough different fights and scenarios for a good six levels once the scenarios are drawn out with puzzles in the typical LEGO way. But generally in a game there's roughly 18 levels, six levels each for each movie. So Lego would have to choose two other films as well. Age of Ultron, most likely, but what about the other? Quote
Clone OPatra Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 There are so many films to pick from at this point, they could do almost anything. It would probably make the most sense to do one or two levels from a bunch of different films, maybe even to lead into Avengers just like the movies did. So, an Iron Man level or two, Thor level or two, Captain America 40s style level, etc. Quote
npgcole Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 LEGO The Hobbit had only two movies (I don't think the BOTFA DLC is ever coming ) Quote
TheLegoExperience Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I wonder who the exclusive figure will be? Hopefully it's Coulson or Odin, but we won't know till August probably. I don't like how they are downsizing the universe. The last one was comic-based with some things from the MCU sprinkled in. I like that, it gives us more capability for variety in levels and characters. Quote
Cagast Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 LEGO The Hobbit had only two movies (I don't think the BOTFA DLC is ever coming ) That's most probably because The Hobbit, theme, is discontinued. Marvel is still here, there won't be levels based on only two movies in game. Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 (edited) I think that's just a render from flickr. If done right, this game could be very good. I'd have preferred a LEGO Marvel 2 Game, but if this can encompass all the MCU films, it could be very cool. Me too on preferring a comic-inspired sequel to a new, exclusionary direct film adaptation. I was already bummed out enough from the exclusion of Nightcrawler and Rogue last time. C'mon. And like Oky just said, the first on was overly derivative of The Avengers/Avengers Assemble to begin with. Shield/Loki/shawarma being uncreatively center stage. Coulson's high presence gets a pass because he's really Clark Gregg, has a colossal gun, and plays in the best Deadpool level. I'm not saying the game didn't succeed in being fun and eventually allowing the world of the comics to dominate (which is what we're losing now), but mainly that Joss Whedon made an absurdist gag out of superheroes getting Mediterranean food, but that does not need to be referred back to like it's now a representative part of Marvel. It's like that thing in the last year where every blog post about Lego had "____ is awesome!" as the title. There are so many films to pick from at this point, they could do almost anything. It would probably make the most sense to do one or two levels from a bunch of different films, maybe even to lead into Avengers just like the movies did. So, an Iron Man level or two, Thor level or two, Captain America 40s style level, etc. This is what I'm expecting too. Two movies is too little but doing two multi-level Avengers movies along with abbreviated Phase 1 and Phase 2 groupings with a level per movie sounds like the ideal way to represent the series. I wonder who the exclusive figure will be? And here's the reason I'm getting the game. (it'll be okay, wallet) Oh no i just realized we're gonna get a loop of the lame Pinocchio reference tune they're so damn proud of crammed down our ears as we get blasted apart in the final battle. On the flip side if actual Pinocchio gets a cameo from that, that would be a clever jab. I'd nosefight. Edited January 31, 2015 by SpiderSpaceman Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Um, guys? The original description said " Avengers, Age of Ultron and more." What do you think the more means hmm?! Quote

I was thinking that they'll do something along those lines, but I hope they'll drop The Incredible Hulk. If they want to limit it to three or four full movies (no abbreviations), I would think that they'd include the ones which affected the MCU the most: Avengers, Winter Soldier, and AoU. They could throw GotG in there if they wanted to play off its popularity or make an Ant-Man level or two just to help promote the new movie. Edited February 1, 2015 by Master_Data Quote
Ultron Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 or make an Ant-Man level or two just to help promote the new movie. Well Antman will have already been released by then and most likely out of theaters as well. Quote
Marvelfan120 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 re: the 'ban' on the x-men and the fantastic 4. While I have seen a great lack of FF in new marvel stuff I have seen some x-men. The x-man are all over contest of champions for instance. I think Marvel/Disney is willing to give up on the FF but may be more resistant to dropping something as big as the x-men and would not count them out of the next lego game. FF has been a non factor for Marvel for a long time, the x-men on the other hand have been huge in the comics and in marketing. Quote
legofanatic12 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 More movies! Phase One Iron Man The Incredible Hulk Iron Man 2 Thor Captain America: The First Avenger The Avengers Phase Two Iron Man 3 Thor: The Dark World Captain America: The Winter Soldier Guardians of the Galaxy Avengers: Age of Ultron Ant-Man It's only from the phase one and two films. Plus some from the TV series as DLC. Quote

Krulis Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 When was this announced? He is propably just speculating. It's obivious that "and more" doesn't mean all MCU. Quote
ToaDraco Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I am really looking forward to this! Hopefully the character roster won't be too limited, I really want to play as Ghost Rider again!!! Playing as GR in the MCU levels would be awesome. Despite the F4 , Sony and Xmen ban, they will more than likely still include members that have been Avengers in the comics like Wolverine and Spider-man. There could be some really awesome dlc levels in the future covering Doctor Strange, Black Panther, etc. Quote

I speculate Ant-Man will be a DLC like BOTFA was supposed to be, but can't think of anything else. Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I'd say it'll include all the MCU characters (and everyone Marvel Studios has the rights to) as well as Spider-Man and the characters from Ultimate Spider-Man (which is likely the only reason Marvel isn't putting a harsh ban on Web-head, too). I'd like to see the guys from Agents of SHIELD, and the majority of the heroes and villains from the upcoming Netflix shows. (Purple Man minifig??) Quote
K-Nut Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I could see them having the main game, then doing a bonus DLC for each Netflix show. They could do it just like the DLCs for LB3. I'm not thinking that AoS will make it into the game besides maybe their characters showing up, but these other heroes definitely could. Quote
