We do seem to be getting some excellent B models. Maybe TLG have worked out that the collectors will buy two copies if the B model is good?

Alternative model looks good but I would prefer something more original (different) like helicopter or boat. This one is just another plane...

Well, I went to pick up the Arcos today and look what also seems to have fallen into my bag!

It was a very fun build and has quite a lot of play-functions too. Working flaps, prop, engine, waterdrop. You get a lot for what you pay for it.

Was a pretty good build. Liked how the "tank" works. Rudder moves, but it is not mechanically connected to the control stick, only the ailerons, and elevators are. Flaps are immobile. Prop is connected to the wheels, so when you roll it, the prop spins. Overall a pretty good model for the price. Picked mine up last weekend at TRU.

Nah, doesn't appeal to me aesthetically. I like this one a lot, so it'll stay this way. I'm in the middle of something bigger at the moment, anyway...

I predict it will be less than a month before someone claims they can make it fly by motorizing it!

Someone already did it:

This set is a real winner - adults can easily recognize it, kids think it looks like Disney's Dusty Crophopper, and it actually performs its intended purpose (dumps "water").

It is a substantial size in the hands, without being too big or taking too long to build. It contains newer parts, it looks just as good with or without stickers, and the B-model is both interesting and functional.

My only gripe is that it can be difficult to take smallest pins out of the new triangular pieces, you may need the edge of a knife to push in the slit behind it to pop those out.

Just bought this set this week, my only set of the year. I was never a fan of lego planes for the simple reason you can't make them fly, but having bought 9394 last year I was impressed. What I like about them the most is the controls.

42040 is a good set, it's fun, looks good and provides some new parts for the collection. The white panels and parts are nice too.

i'm glad I got it.

Received this set as a Christmas present, a good fun build, and a lot for your money, question is, do I now go and buy one for myself to do the 'B' model :classic:

Finally got this set, after wanting it since June '15. Not disappointed. The only con is the size of the otherwise awesome looking stickers - applying them obsessively-compulsively-perfectly took me probably half of the building process, but it was worth it. The plane looks, feels and works awesome, lots of functions and a huge size for the price. Actually it paid to wait as I got it new but discounted for 65% of MSRP (so it was 6 euro cents/piece) because the box was slightly damaged. Inside everything was 10/10, so it was a win.

Hello guys I'm new to the forum but I have to say I got this set few days ago and I got to say it is so impressive for that price.
