Hey guys!

I recently started building again, and, due to my love of all things sailing ships-related, I built a frigate.

The HMS Merlin is a 20 Gun (counting top-deck cannon), 2 Mast Frigate.

She has a modular top deck and my attempt at rigging.

This is my first build, and any positive feedback/criticism is welcome!

At no time in any navy is she a frigate, but there's nothing wrong wit a brig sloop.

I like her lines and color scheme. I see a lot in this design one doesn't normally expect from first attempted. The bow and tumble home techniques add a little refinement to the build. I'd defiantly encourage you to continue refining this MOC, she's great start. Thanks for sharing.

Hi - off to a good start, and like it that you have considered features such as the tumblehome, and given thought to the sail plan too. The masts look well spaced - I am certainly no expert on these maters though! Kurigan is of course correct to state that this is not a frigate but a brig - frigates have three masts. Only my opinion, but I would work her up as a brig, rather than trying to cram an extra mast on - did consider doing that with my brig, and really didn't work.

All in all, think you have made a great start, and look forward to seeing more! The guys here are really helpful, and can offer excellent advice.

All the best!

nice start, you got some good techniques and in my opinion 2 masts ships look the best (shorter and more realistic)

Agreed.

I like the flushed deck layout.

Where did you get your figurehead? I don't have a Mr. Shiny, a person with ADD like myself should get one.

Has the captain's quarters been furnished in any way?
