Steph 104th Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 That review was great, it only made me want the set to come sooner. I'm reasonably confident in the themes hopes, but it got me thinking. If this theme took off it would be mainly populated with small/er sets. Quote
DuckBricks Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I think this is a great set, but I wish the TARDIS doors opened in a more realistic manner so that you could have just the TARDIS displayed in a street scene with the Doctor stepping out of the TARDIS. Yeah, this is one of my only disappointments for the set... Quote
BrickOn Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I am tempted to buy 3 sets... Two to play with and one to keep incase I lose pieces in the others... (Although msybe that's because I want more angels and daleks). Eek I am so excited I hope they make more sets, I want to have Clara with mini tardis from the graffiti episode :-) Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I personally am holding out for them to make more sets. I want a Tardis, but I can't imagine this will be the only Who set... let alone the only one with a Tardis. I think it's probable they'll release a set with just the tardis, like a UCS, or something. I'll get that. This, however doesn't have much for me, 'Cept the Angel, that I can't get from the cheaper Dimensions set. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

This is a limited edition set; as such, that would be extremely unfair to whoever loses out because you bought more than one set. Quote

This is a limited edition set; as such, that would be extremely unfair to whoever loses out because you bought more than one set. Hmmmm strange logic, I am sure the number of sets made will be to match current demand, with an initial run to test the demand and a second run to meet it... I hardly think Lego will want desperate customers paying third party prices for a set, I am sure they will make enough, it will just take a couple of production runs to get the numbers right. In a couple of years time there won't be enough to meet demand, sure, but I am not the kind of person who will sell my lego for profit (I am having a hard enough time scraping together some minifigures that I am willing to part with at the moment) so I don't think I need to feel guilty about buying extras. And tbh I don't really mind the people who do that anyway since it would tough to get hold of lego we missed out on if others hadn't bought extras earlier. Quote
craiggrannell Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I imagine also there's limited and there's 'limited'. The Research Centre and Mars Rover both sold out in insanely little time, with the former eventually getting another run. The Ecto-1, though, is still on sale well over a year after its debut. The clear differentiator is the brand. Given the popularity of Doctor Who, I'll be bloody amazed if the new set's on sale for a day and then that's it. (Early availability might be limited, of course.) Quote
deskp Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Really happy lego put 11 in the set, he is by far the best fig in the set aswell, his closed mout face is the best and lookks the msot like Matt Smith. I'm hoping for a full theme as well, would be cool to get River Song. Quote

8BrickMario Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Perhaps she could use the Banshee's hairpiece? Quote
LEGODalekbuster523 Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Perhaps she could use the Banshee's hairpiece? That's a nice compliment for Alex Kingston. Quote
8BrickMario Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Well, River's proud of the wild hair...don't know if Alex is. Quote
BrickOn Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Or she is back in the Christmas Special, so we might get her in that if they prefer to take from the more current shows, if they continue the theme... but I would really like Silence in the Library Quote

deskp Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 That hair is so perfect for her... lego would probably use something else Quote
Hulk_Smash Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Well I used it for a custom of her I did and it's perfect, except it's translucent and not blonde but TLG can fix that :) Quote
Tariq j Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Agreed, its definitely a suitable and accurate choice for River. Quote
Mr Greeble Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015  Started watching Doctor Who over the summer and now I'm hooked, so I can't wait for this set so I can MOD the hell out of it! The Daleks are really growing on me, and they'll look good next to the new cyberman. Until then, it's time for me to customize some new villains! Quote
LEGODalekbuster523 Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I'm confused. I thought you could pre-order the set on the LEGO Store but there's no 'add to bag' function. Quote

That's really stupid if so, especially with a set like this being released close to Christmas that lots of people will want to buy. They shouldn't release sets this close to Christmas if they're not going to let people ensure they can get a copy by pre-ordering. Edited October 9, 2015 by LEGODalekbuster523 Quote
8BrickMario Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I think LEGO knows what they're getting into here. With a combination of two enormous fanbases, LEGO won't underestimate demand. And seriously? Pre-ordering a LEGO set? Quote
Jacob_9821 Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 This set it totally neato dorito. I'm glad the blue window frames used in that preview video were just stand-ins, would've looked weird. The design of the TARDIS walls is quite nice, and although it's essentially a clone of the Ideas submittion it was a good design and I am glad to see it carried over. As for the console, I personally like it more than the original submittion. The addition of the new computer panel prints really top the console off. Speaking of prints, there must be about 35 printed parts in here! No stickers either? Sign me up! As for the figures, first and foremost I have to say, I'm a tad disappointed with the choices, but then again I'm pleasantly surprised. For the Doctors, I was hoping for Tennent and Matt Smith. Capaldi isn't a bad Doctor or minifigure at all, I just was pleased with getting him in the Dimensions pack. Nevertheless I'm overjoyed to get a purple suit, we don't see those very often! (Yes, I know the Joker has one but that's too colorful for my tastes) Matt Smith was done very well, the jacket, the faces, the hair, the legs... I have no issues with him whatsoever. Clara is another one done right! When I first saw her I was a little thrown off by the face, but her alternative expression captures Jenna Coleman to a T. Now, those Weeping Angles give me the creeps.. I'm loving them! Glad to finally be buying a set that includes the clear neckbracket piece, haven't bought amy DC sets that have it yet. Lastly we've got the Daleks, one of my favorite brickbuild characters I've seen period. I like the Ideas and Dimensions one, but I think I like these just a tad more. I adore the use of the new 1x1 with bar being used on the eyestalk, ingenious! I don't have many grievances with the set, but I'll list them nevertheless. I wish we could open the doors in a more realistic way, but I can't think of another way to do it without it looking odd. 4 minifigures and 2 brick-built figures for a $60 set? Was expecting a 5th, being a Cyberman or a second Weeping Angle. These are nitpicks so I can't say I'm too mad about the issues. Won't be getting this day 1, (As much as I want to) but I instead will be getting it Christmas day and build it watching the Christmas special. I don't think there's ever been an option to pre-order on shop.LEGO.com. You're thinking of Amazon maybe? Wasn't there one for the UCS Falcon? Can't remember honestly. Regardless they almost never do it, if ever. Quote
